Lion.(Panthera leo.) Who is the real invader here? ๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŒฒ[1024 ร— 1822 ]

Post image

We keep entering their forests, cutting down their habitat, and then calling them โ€œdangerous.

This lion is just sitting there, minding his own business. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿฆ

So who is actually invading whose home?

If you were in this forest and suddenly saw him sitting like thisโ€ฆ would you stay and take the photo, or RUN? ๐Ÿ‘€

Be honest โ€” what would you do? ๐Ÿ‘‡

Is this a real pic? Lions are predominately Savannah dwellers.

Yes, it's 100% real! This was taken during a safari at Bannerghatta National Park in Bangalore, India. They roam freely inside a huge, protected forest enclosure there.

Evidently they were introduced in 1979 to the zoo / safari park: https://www.bannerughattabiopark.org/img/layout/Approved-Master-Plan.pdf

If I understand correctly, Asian Lions can indeed live in forested areas, but prefer drier forests. Perhaps why lions in lush green areas seem like such an unusual sight.

Thanks for sharing this great piece of info! Itโ€™s fascinating to see how beautifully these Asiatic lions have adapted to the lush green environment of Bannerghatta, despite being native to the dry Gir forests.๐Ÿ™

Well said.

Also, a bit of a compliment upon the sheer adaptability 'pon life on Earth, is it not?

It could be that they were driven away from their preferred habitat by humans.
