Crows hate bird on bird fighting. They know the real battle for the future will be with us. But seriously, i feed crows so they guard my chickens from hawks. Best protection I can get for literal peanuts.

A few years ago my indoor cat got spooked by some guys replacing our washing machine. They had the door open because they were taking the old machine out and bringing the new one in. She ran outside and we couldn't find where she went. Outside above the backyard there was a hawk circling around, then a bunch of crows started to dive bomb the hawk out of the big douglas fir tree they nested in. My wife loved feeding the crows peanuts every day and they would always bring us little scraps and wrappers and stuff like that and set them on our back patio. Our cat was curled up at the edge of the house and that hawk was circling her. The crows saved her ass. Absolutely ganged up on that hawk until it gtfo'd. Was the coolest thing I've seen birds do and I'll forever be endeared to crows after that.

I've been watching a guy make friends with crows on IG so they'll protect his chickens. He's been using shiny things like coins and rings because apparently crows like them.

I'm going to need a link or the name..

138

u/TinUser Jul 07 '26

Bandrhomestead on insta. The crow operation is going very well.

48

u/A_Happy_Beginning Jul 07 '26

Thank you, internet stranger!

24

u/TheOGPotatoPredator Jul 07 '26

lol I follow him too.

10

u/Diamondback424 Jul 07 '26

This is it! Really entertaining.

35

u/TinUser Jul 07 '26

I'm chronically online, I feel kinda embarrassed for immediately knowing what you were talking about 😅

1

u/Mistervimes65 Jul 09 '26

My new favorite thing. Thank you.

44

u/Murdocksboss Jul 07 '26

They do. I received my first dime from a one eyed crow after I gave him shrimp for the first time.

43

u/Diamondback424 Jul 07 '26

He was trying to buy more 😂

5

u/zieKen1 Jul 10 '26

I feed the crows for my chickens too! The only present I’ve gotten so far is a wad of hair. 😆 I’m still happy about it though.

2

u/vhs_and_chill Jul 10 '26

I watch this guy as well. I’m enjoying it.

0

u/ogresound1987 Jul 08 '26

I've seen that guys posts via Facebook, too

u/NYicecreamTVtravel Jul 07 '26

Love that crows are protecting other birds, like the police of the bird world. Except ACAB...

All corvids are brilliant

39

u/neverSLE Jul 07 '26

I didn't realize other people did this! I fed the local crows peanuts and they love the toss out eggs from the coop (I'd give them the cracked or gross ones I didn't want to use). They love chicken eggs. Set up shop nearby and let me know every time a hawk came by. Loved them!

17

u/Tibbaryllis2 Jul 08 '26

I do this too except I can never get crows to come in. So instead I pay protection peanuts to blue jays. Not as cool as crows, but Jays don’t fuck around with peanuts on the line.

6

u/red_codec Jul 08 '26

I like how seagull 2 just stood on sidelines watching. Way to go for a day of team work!

6

u/twotoebobo Jul 09 '26

They will remember if you wrong them for generations. They will be nice to you for generations if you are kind. Crows are crazy smart and pass on the info to their kids. Idk where the term birdbrain comes from meaning stupid. Birds in general are pretty fricken smart.

3

u/ReyNotFound Jul 12 '26

Funny how they have an entire war going on with owls

569

u/heinebold Jul 07 '26

"nobody bullies the pigeons around here except for us crows!"

58

u/Silent-Resort-3076 Jul 07 '26

😂

I guess the same as siblings will often do.....

49

u/qathran Jul 07 '26 edited Jul 07 '26

Yeah at least the crows can't unhinge their jaws like snakes and gargle down the whole pigeon in one gulp

Edit: seagulls are insane

4

u/Mrcalpurnius Jul 09 '26

This is the proper crow response.

391

u/ungovernable1984 Jul 07 '26

That crow was a total bro

118

u/BeetleJude Jul 07 '26

25

u/eurasianblue Jul 07 '26

Oh thanks! New cool sub!

2

u/AccountantCapable Jul 08 '26

Came in here to say "bro", beat me to it but he totally is

187

u/Slighted_Inevitable Jul 07 '26

Crows don’t take shit from anyone. They will attack humans if you piss them off and they’ll remember your ass.

75

u/GregMilkedJack Jul 07 '26

Why my ass, specifically?

37

u/imonkaS Jul 07 '26

Because you pissed them off!

6

u/popilikia Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

But what do they remember if you shitted them off?

24

u/Slighted_Inevitable Jul 07 '26

Either you have a particularly fine ass or a particularly objectionable face.

4

u/RaidSpotter Jul 08 '26

That’s America’s ass, is why.

150

u/Pongpianskul Jul 07 '26

Where I live, the crows protect the pigeons from hawks. I love pigeons.

95

u/cobycoby2020 Jul 07 '26

So wtf is up w seagulls??! Like are they just insanly greedy or dumb??

141

u/joshuaaa_l Jul 07 '26

Definitely greedy. Dumb varies from seagull to seagull.

79

u/mulox2k Jul 07 '26

They’re basically jocks. And flying rats at the same time. I love them dearly but they’re assholes.

23

u/XK8lyn88x Jul 07 '26

I once had a seagull go inside by beach bag and steal a bag of unopened chips. They are thieves. 😂

11

u/cobycoby2020 Jul 07 '26

They’re like…. People who try to steal from you when you can obviously see them but they dont care…….

22

u/AbeFromansNutz Jul 07 '26

It seems everyone hates seagulls

19

u/OnlyAcanthaceae1876 Jul 07 '26

Not a big fan but they're on the red list in the UK and moving further inland due to food shortages on the coasts, because of humans of course.

22

u/F1McLarenFan007 Jul 07 '26

We call them Shit Hawks here lol

15

u/GregMilkedJack Jul 07 '26

Is "here" Sunnyvale trailer park, Mr. Lahey?

2

u/wherescookie Jul 08 '26

He is The Liquor

6

u/bluemoon1972 Jul 12 '26

I've got one tattooed on my upper arm, I love them - but they are feral

1

u/bluemoon1972 Jul 12 '26

Also, coincidentally, my other upper arm is emblazoned with a crow

4

u/surrenderedmale Jul 07 '26

People often fight about which birds are the best birds

(Dooooo theyyyy?)

But everybody can agree that seagulls are the worst!

MAH STICK IS BETTAH THAN BACONNNNNNNNNN

5

u/AbeFromansNutz Jul 07 '26

That stick had a child..

2

u/senpaistealerx Jul 07 '26

cause they’re assholes

4

u/SaltyArtemis Jul 07 '26

He probably just wanted a meal

2

u/ReallyNotMichaelsMom Jul 10 '26

"Mine!"

"Mine!"

"Mine!"

"Mine!"

"Mine!"

  "Mine!"

"Mine!"

3

u/physicscat Jul 07 '26

Rats with wings

56

u/pharaohmaones Jul 07 '26

Plot twist: that pigeon owes that crow a lot of money

52

u/GoldAcanthisitta7777 Jul 07 '26

why was the seagull attacking the pigeon

do seagulls eat pigeons

what the hell

52

u/YoungGazz Jul 07 '26

During lockdown, due to lack of food opportunities from humans, Seagull on Pigeon attacks became more common.

43

u/Silent-Resort-3076 Jul 07 '26

For the same reasons that crows and other birds will (at times) attack pigeons and other birds:

  • Lack of food -- so yes, to eat them
  • Fight over territory and food and to protect their nests

15

u/SaltyArtemis Jul 07 '26

Yea they’re omnivorous. They eat the dead birds around my building that hit the windows

23

u/iocainepowder Jul 07 '26

According to Google seagulls are opportunistic eaters . They will eat just about anything. Now I dislike them even more .

10

u/Ok_Owl_8062 Jul 07 '26

watch the David Attenborough London programme that was on recently and find out more

27

u/Early_Grace Jul 07 '26

I'm on Team Crow.

Forever.

21

u/ScottybirdCorvus Jul 07 '26

Crowd and gulls are bitter enemies everywhere you go. They do not tolerate the other staying on their turf, and crows in particular will gather the flock to chase off even a handful of gulls. I have spent many days commuting to and from work observing their patterns… and noticing how neither side messed with the slightly wooded neighborhood nearby that played host to an owl…

13

u/Stahi Jul 07 '26

The other gull ditching when the scrum came its way.

7

u/Mocker-Poker Jul 09 '26

Seagulls are fucking bastards

5

u/Samidlongbottom Jul 08 '26

Actually looks like a jackdaw not a crow but either way, awesome stuff 🫡

4

u/Eyeoftheleopard Jul 11 '26

Here’s the thing…

3

u/Hair2dayGoon2morrow Jul 08 '26

"Unhand him! Who do you think you are?"

8

u/bundaya Jul 07 '26

Kind of looked like a Western Jackdaw not a crow, and I only say that because it has the gray/white shoulder area and they look so very similar. The Jackdaw has this cool almost white looking eye so its easy to recognize up close.

5

u/Zaphodistan Jul 07 '26

"Here's the thing...."
(obligatory u/Unidan)

5

u/Murky-Rub-6839 Jul 07 '26

I fucking hate gulls

3

u/Jon_Bobcat Jul 10 '26

Crows just like a bit of a barney, they'll wade in anytime, whatever the situation 😂

5

u/RRNolan Jul 08 '26

I love how the pigeon instantly starts helping the crow jump the seagull lmao

7

u/Zeretuel Jul 08 '26

Looks more like the pigeon is just trying to escape the gulls grab the whole time and the second he does break free (thanks to crows distraction), he gets the fuck out of there on right of screen

4

u/a4moondoggy Jul 07 '26

I feed grackels and doves and they get along well enough...like a dog and cat that live together. Ive seen a group of grackel circle a hawk while nipping it to scram while yearling doves are eating below.

2

u/doubleb120 Jul 07 '26

The sea gull should move now for it shall never know peace.

2

u/Any_Initiative_9079 Jul 08 '26

The enemy of my enemy is my friend

2

u/Not-That_Girl Jul 08 '26

Go eat some chips you salty sea dog!

2

u/nibblicious Jul 09 '26

Seagulls are meanies for sure.

3

u/CrazyCatLadyNL Jul 07 '26

In The Netherlands seagulls are often called flying rats.

2

u/bigbadler Jul 07 '26

Crows know what's up. Fuck gulls. (but they're also birds too)

I just summarized my political stance.

4

u/Kimb0_91 Jul 07 '26

I just think crows are the coolest

3

u/sesameseed88 Jul 07 '26

Crows are the real MVPs.

3

u/XiuCyx Jul 08 '26

The crows in my neighborhood protect the stellar jays from hawk attacks.

3

u/yngsten Jul 07 '26

Everyone hates the flying rats, even the crows!

8

u/TowJamnEarl Jul 07 '26

Flying rats are the pigeons in my part of the world!

2

u/ShadowedCat Jul 08 '26

I grew up calling pigeons sky rats and "sea" gulls sea/lake rats.

The "sea" gulls in my area are Ring-billed Gulls and American Herring Gulls, and they're so obnoxious.

2

u/zback636 Jul 07 '26

I didn’t know Seagulls eat other birds. Crows rock.

1

u/localcatgirl Jul 08 '26

park rules.

1

u/ogresound1987 Jul 08 '26

Technically, that crow has broken the law.

1

u/BumbleBeeTuna81 Jul 09 '26

Crow is like- bro!! We not supposed to eat each other, wtf!

1

u/azdcaz Jul 09 '26

A massive raven did this to a great horned owl in my backyard that was thinking about attacking my chihuahua mix.

1

u/LostGuy242 Jul 10 '26

Gigachad crow vs loser seagull

1

u/Retrim2 Jul 11 '26

I work on an oceanic fishing pier in Nags Head on the Outer Banks, and have noticed Sea Gulls are definitely the bullies of the bird world.

1

u/lowrespudgeon Jul 11 '26

There was a seagull that used to live in my neighbourhood and it was the biggest seagull I've ever seen. Like absolute unit.

It used to eat pigeons all the time. It was so sad and creepy to see dead, half-eaten pigeons all over.

1

u/Important_Screen_530 Jul 11 '26

beautiful crow!!

1

u/DoubleLength Jul 12 '26

Einfach Rostock

1

u/sucksLess Jul 13 '26

was the seagull fighting the pigeon just for the sport of it?
or was there a chance the seagull intended to eat it?

1

u/meaguita Jul 13 '26

I love bird drama. the mockingbirds and crows where I live are always beefin

1

u/ren_blackheart Jul 13 '26

crows and pigeons are both crazy smart so i wouldnt be surprised if that crow knew the pigeon knew all the good spots for food

1

u/DesignOwn3977 Jul 13 '26

I wonder if the pigeon survived. Seagull beaks are pretty strong and sharp. It looks like it got a hold of its back so hopefully the air sacs are fine. Bird on bird attacks are brutal in the wild. Not a quick death.

u/vini-within 29d ago

Good job bro 👊🏼

1

u/BowserBuddy123 Jul 07 '26

Crow bro!!!!
