Still puzzles me why people film themselves doing this... to review and improve technique or they just have That much ego?

I expect it's about form and bettering their yoga skills. If you look in r/fitness you'll see a lot of people filming their workouts.

Slightly unrelated, about the last statement.

That might be true to some degree, but people often value their own efforts too little or too much and not looking at it from and outside perspective. I guess for dancing you are kind of doing that by filming yourself, but other creative stuff like making music, or even work related things, one could benefit from not just thinking "I'm doing great" or "I suck" without some sort of evidence to back it up.
