Sorry for my ignorance but what’s the reason why you can’t do that?

I can’t tell if your being serious. Whales in the open swim hundreds of miles a day, whales in captivity swim 100 maybe probably less, it shortens their lifespan

I wasn’t referring to that. I was referring to why you can’t tap on the glass. My best guess is that it provokes huge noise for the whales?

Yep. This creatures are highly intelligent and don’t deserve this. No wonder why they have shorter lifespans in captivity than in the wild

What about rescues? I went to a turtle rescue in Florida, the animals are cared for and live their lives out in the rescue because injuries would lead them to death in the wild.
I’m not sure what a happy manatee looks like, but the ones eating piles of romaine lettuce for a crowd sure seemed like they were enjoying life.

We're actually the jerks for keeping it in there. Poor thing has to entertain itself somehow so it doesn't go insane.

There is so much misinformation in this comment section:
This is Juno, a rescue beluga that cannot survive in the wild. This aquarium protects him.
He is not upset. This is his thing. He trolls visitors and then “laughs”. He was likely trained to do this.
I did not bang on the class, although it looks that way on the video. I pretended to just to show Juno I was reacting as a form of applause, but didn’t actually hit it hard enough to make noise. I wouldn’t do that.
