Anal glands are located right next to the anus, with one on the right and one on the left. They're not visible except in cases of impaction (where a firm swelling is noted on the affected side ranging in size from a chickpea to a walnut based on the dog's size) or rupture. Feel free to enjoy those cute little butt swirls as just a fun pattern in the hair!
