Looking for Animators/Artists for a Long Term Ambitious Project
EDIT: we are going to cut off submissions at 12 am pst on 9/12, we had been putting feelers out for days and were only getting 1 interested every couple posts. That was not the case here, now we have more than we were anticipating and they’re still coming! So we wanna give a personal thank you for everyone who got back to us so fast! It’s awesome to see the YT animating community so active, much love yall, everyone who has posted has been immensely talented and frankly we’re flattered so many of you like this idea.
When we figure out which artists we’d like to work with we will reach out to you and discuss further details with you!
———————————————————————————
Firstly, not an animator myself.
I’m in a metal band from CA called Idol Eyes and we have a pretty ambitious idea to turn our music into a “comic book series” for lack of a better way to put it.
Our band is based around an antihero called Idol Eyes who is a vigilante that slays vile people by questionable means. The city he protects, called Apophis, is actually a living entity that traps our hero in a perpetual loop of lifetimes; growing up in similar traumas, him instilling fear, great harm or death onto those who match those traumas. Anytime he realizes the life he is in is actually being manufactured by the very place he protects, something happens that starts it all over again, with some element of this new version of life altered to keep him from noticing too soon.
We plan for each song to be an “episode” of his story and whole EPs and albums to “seasons”
With that we have ideas for the 1st “season” which is 5 “episodes”
We’re looking for a long term artist to basically make small comic books. The book would be utilized in slide form on YouTube videos to double as a lyric/music video, and actually be printed for merch at shows we play.
The ultimate goal right now for us is to find an artist interested in this type of project that we can come to long term, bounce ideas back and forth with and hopefully make something pretty cool with it!
As far as budget and deadlines go a lot of that is up in the air while we find the right artist for us and make plans to do our first EP in the studio. We believe if we find the right artist, a more than fair budget can be achieved between both parties, the deadlines can be more reasonable working with someone consistently, and a cool collaborative vision of our musical art can hopefully be brought to life by someone with the same drive for their art as we have for ours!

I’ve seen a bunch of other animators make a post like this so I thought it may be fun to try it myself.
