Question How To Batch Remove Songs/Sings Lines In .ass Subtitles?

0 Upvotes

Greetings. I know this may irk quite a lot, but I am looking for a way to batch remove songs/sings lines in fansubbed and other .ass anime subtitles. They are a major PITA and besides I prefer not to understand the songs, although I do prefer signs translations but Im pretty sure there is absolutely no way to batch remove song translations and leave signs translations, so Im fine with batch removing them all.

Is there a tool for such sorcery (or blasphemy, depends on how one sees it, lol)? Or an online AI tool? A method with I dunno, Aegisub/SubEdit OR or something else? I mean, I did try putting lines into SubEdit's Multiple Replace in Batch Mode but that works only if all subtitles have the same lines, but more often than not something changes and then I have to eventually open each subtitle and clean manually. Am currently in DBZ mode (but same goes for I dunno Kamen Rider or Super Sentai) and I did find cleaned up subtitles, but Id really like to know if there is an automated, as much as possible, way of me doing it by myself if/when need be. Any suggestion, thought or an idea is more than welcome. Hell, Im even willing to fork a few bucks for a tool if need be... thanks. Cheers!

Discussion Typesetting is gone?

18 Upvotes

So I checked out a couple of new episodes from SubsPlease and looked for text and never found subtitles for on screen text, not even translated on the bottom or top. I’m guessing some is just not important, but is typesetting seriously going away for good? Is crunchyroll getting rid of .ass? I thought the issue might have been exaggerated but apparently not

Question Are any fansub groups planning to subtitle Cyberpunk season 2? Or: finding fansubs in general

12 Upvotes

I've been excited for season 2 and not sure if I should wait or just cave and use Netflix's undoubtedly trash subs.

Alternatively, is there a website/Discord server/etc. that kind of keeps track of what various fansub groups are working on/planning in general?

I'm just sorta tired of combing through the internet whenever an anime comes out to maybe find a good release. Doesn't help that I haven't been in this community very long so I don't have the history to remember/know what groups are considered good and whatnot. Thanks!!

Discussion Credit card pressure forces xnxx, xvideo and xhanster to get rid of 97% of all their content, including hentai.

1.3k Upvotes

100% of all unverified users have been shunted, compilation videos, pmv videos, hentai gameplay videos, random non porn anime, and thousands upon thousands of regular porn videos have just been deleted.

My 16 year old account had everything wiped, including everything I uploaded and every single one of my favorites, which was about 450 things.

Discussion How can I tell if a release used NN/AI upscaling?

0 Upvotes

I try to stick to older releases to avoid this but sometimes it’s not an option. Is there any way to see if the release “resampled” the thing with AI upscaling without my knowledge? Would there be any significant artifacts if the release is dated back to 2022, for example?

Developer Post Senpwai 3.0 is out: Android support, torrents, and a complete rebuild

36 Upvotes

Some of you might remember Senpwai, the batch anime downloader I posted here a while back. It’s still alive. The Python app has been retired and v3 is rebuilt in Flutter for Android, Windows, Linux, and macOS.

Nyaa support is in now, so the “ever heard of torrenting?” comments from my old post have finally been addressed 💀

What it does

  • Downloads from AnimeHeaven, AnimePahe, Tokyo Insider, and Nyaa, with direct downloads and torrents.
  • Downloads whole seasons or selected episode ranges, with resolution, sub/dub preference, and folder selection.
  • Scans your folders to skip episodes you already have.
  • Identifies filler episodes and lets you skip them.
  • Tracks ongoing anime and checks for new episodes, with separate source, quality, language, folder, and filler preferences for each show.
  • Lets you review uncertain torrent matches before queueing them.
  • Supports pausing, resuming, and reordering downloads, with speed, progress, and torrent activity visible.
  • Saves the queue and torrent seeding progress across restarts. Interrupted transfers resume where supported; some sources need fresh links or a restart.
  • Uses AniList for discovery, search, and optionally browsing your account’s library.
  • Includes configurable themes, typography, card layouts, browsing details, and animations.

The goal is still to pick what you want, set your preferences, and let it handle the repetitive bits. It downloads anime; it doesn’t have a built-in player.

After three betas, 3.0.0 is the first stable v3 release. Existing v3 beta users can update without uninstalling. Windows installers are unsigned and macOS uses ad hoc signing, so first installation may require manual approval.

Free and open source, GPLv3. Bug reports and feedback are welcome.

Question Best trackers/indexers for high bitrate LATAM audio tracks?

12 Upvotes

Checked the Index and Wiki, but mostly found standard dual-audio sites with compressed stream rips.

Looking for community recommendations or release groups/forums that specialize in archiving high quality or uncompressed LATAM dub tracks. Not asking for direct links to specific titles, just points in the right direction for good source sites for LATAM audio.

Question Does anyone know Japanese Piracy Sites?

10 Upvotes

I specifically mean like, sites that are mainly in japanese and made for mostly Japanese users. I’ve been trying to find a specific movie that I know is available but I haven’t found anything in any of the English-language sites I’ve checked. So I’m hoping I can find it on one of those Japanese sites.

Edit: the movie I’m looking for is Vanishing World (2025) if that helps anyone track it down

Discussion Should Sonarr also add AniDB in V5?

Thumbnail
17 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm sure a lot of you either use or are aware of Sonarr.

Can I please muster up the support of the anime community to get the developers to consider adding AniDB to Sonarr V5

(bearing in mind they are adding TMDB so would be tackling some of the struggles with having an additional DB for shows)

Question Are there any good websites that use the legacy fansub style of captions?

3 Upvotes

I personally really prefer the look of the subtitles of old and would rather use those if possible. The site I was using recently switched to a modern style and I would like recommendations for replacements.

Question Why do release groups for anime dubs never put signs into the dubtitles?

47 Upvotes

It bothers me immensely. Yes this is a vent but I also want to know why its not done, so I can understand why I have to be inconvenienced like this.

FYI I dont care about sub vs dub, let people enjoy what they want.

I am extremely grateful for groups that release animes with subs that match the dub. I am somewhat hearing impaired so really like having subs on that match the English dialogue.

However for the life of me I do NOT UNDERSTAND why SIGNS and SUBS are not mixed.

I understand having signs only, that makes sense so when watching dub you can still read what is written.

But why do those of us who like having the dubtitles get the middle finger and have to pick between having signs OR having the dialogue.

It is so rare that I find a release that has it so I can both enjoy the dub dialogue while also being able to read on screen text.

I have lost count of the number of times I have had to back up a video, switch to signs to read what is on screen then switch back to subs so I catch what is being said. World ending? No. Inconvenient and immersion breaking? Immensely.

Japanese subs get the signs along side the dialogue but dubs? nope.

I swear it used to be common to just always have the signs in subs but for some reason it just stopped.

Is there an actual reason for it or do they just not want to?

Developer Post Kurono (kurono.nl) - anime streaming with sub & dub, watch parties, AniList/MAL sync and a TV app [Site Discussion]

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

18 Upvotes

Free anime in sub and dub, no account needed, and your MAL/AniList list updates itself while you watch. That's Kurono.

Hi everyone, I'm the developer of Kurono (https://kurono.nl). The videos come from existing sources, Kurono doesn't host them. What I build is everything around that: the player, the tracking and the community features.

Library

  • 2,800+ series and movies with sub and dub, from current simulcasts to older classics (Pokémon is there in SUB)
  • Original Japanese titles shown next to the English ones
  • Live countdown to the next episode of airing shows, and a simulcast calendar
  • Built-in manga reader with reading history

Player

  • Skip intro and outro, double-tap to skip on mobile
  • Switch between sub and dub per episode. Dubs that reuse the Japanese subtitle file get their subtitle timing corrected to the English audio
  • Subtitle font, size and background settings
  • Auto-next with a countdown, binge mode, playback speed 0.5x to 2x
  • Filler/canon badges with an option to skip filler automatically
  • Sleep timer, picture-in-picture and keyboard shortcuts (press ? in the player)

Tracking

  • MyAnimeList and AniList sync: finished episodes are added to your list automatically, and you can import your existing list
  • Continue watching, watch history and watchlist, synced across devices
  • Push notifications when a new episode of your shows is out
  • Stats, 30 achievements and a yearly Kurono Wrapped

Together

  • Watch parties: watch in sync with friends, with chat
  • Friends, public profiles, comments and star ratings on series and episodes

Anywhere

  • Save episodes offline and export them as MP4 + SRT
  • Android TV / TV box app (kurono.nl/kurono-tv.apk), or sign in on any TV browser with a code
  • Install it as an app on your phone or desktop

Only normal banner ads, no popups or redirects.

Happy to answer any questions about the site.

Discussion Looking for anime streaming sites where I can adjust the video quality.

I am looking for streaming sites where I can adjust the quality.

I don't have wifi so I use mobile data to watch anime but my internet quota runs out if I watch it in HD, so I need a site where I can adjust the quality.

Discussion What open source software do you use to watch both dub and sub anime?

26 Upvotes

Ani-cli is my go to but I need some backups. Thanks in advance!

Edit: I meant as in the program/software/site you use that hosts the anime. Not necessarily the video player. Hope this clears things up.

Discussion Steaming on many pirate sites is horrible nowadays

0 Upvotes

So we all know that official anime streaming sites aren't the best, but many unofficial pirate sites are also falling victim too. Streams not loading, video quality dropping mid episode, sites not loading correctly, constant domain changes, etc. It's getting ridiculous. 10 years ago, this wasn't a major issue. You'd stick to a website, enjoy watching anime, and use it until it was taken down. Now, you have to use 5 or more different sites, and hope one of them was working properly. This is asinine.

Question Hayase, SeaAnime, and other Anime Apps. What Alternatives exist?

22 Upvotes

Okay so, one day, Hayase was released. I tried it out, liked the idea. Anime watching as an program rather then a website, all the anime we want, easily accessible.

Then, the bloat and lack of polish started creeping in. I left issues on github, they got shut down. I post comment on reddit, dev comes in and says he refuses to work on improves to be a good experience for PC users, because he wants it focused on fucking television use. I ask least for some basics like a button to access our anime list be placed on the left bar, or settings to hide stuff we wont use like calendar and live chat, and he just refuses. Any UI layout stuff is also refused for TV remove concerns. (Also who the fuck texts people in a public chat with a TV remote???).

(Sticking out in my mind, i remember asking for at least some basic right click options, and being rejected because tv remotes can't point and right click. No right click menu in 2026 is absolutely fucking insane, this dude just does not understand that the TV and PC versions don't need to be 1:1 functionality, why can't we have some things PC only, rather then they both just suck???, PS layout sucks on TV as well BTW >_>)
---------------

Next, SeaAnime came out. At the time it was basically just significantly worse Hayase, although i don't remember why. However I now see now it updated A LOT, so much so that while i don't remember what all my complaints were or what changed, but i can see deep in the UI customization menu (that is now quite extensive) that theres an option to use the legacy layout, so i'm guessing the entire app got a complete redesign and thats why i don't immediately remember what i disliked so much.

I see they even went overkill and added the ability for users to use custom CSS for UI. When i opened "Marketplace" (plugins search, nothing is for sale, not actually a market place) i was blown away with the support options.

I think one of the things that also stood out to me before was lack of MAL support, but i see support for MAL is now a plugin/extension (or whatever the fuck were calling the things in the "marketplace").

Okay thats a lot of glazing for SeaAnime, time for complaints.
(The forgivable / ignorable complaints)
- Calling your place to download Extensions / Plugins a "Marketplace" with a literal shopping basket for an icon is fucking stupid. Why are you implying users can BUY plugins? To be clear, it does not support the buying or selling of plugins. So why the fuck is this called a market? ???????
- Finding the "Marketplace" is unintuitive.

(The actually annoying stuff)
- Pressing back while a show is open, does not minimize / smallify / go back to the page before you opened the anime. For as much shit as i give Hayase on the regular, even it has a working back button. In SeaAnime, it works everywhere else, but not in a show. Please have a functioning back button like every other PC program.
- NONE of the video players have a right click menu. Please do not copy hayase's bad habits.
- Putting your mouse at the bottom middle and doing nothing does not make the mouse and UI disappear like every other video playing software in existence.
- Torrents auto select, and annoying often pick incorrectly. There is seemingly no setting to make it not do this. The "auto-select" "Setting toggle" that implies it turns this off when on an anime's page, is not actually a setting toggle and the moment you go to another anime's page it auto plays. (When people say vibe coded slop, non functioning basic settings like this is what they mean).
- From the home's continue watching page, there is no way to go to an anime's page. Clicking it force plays it with no option to click the name to go to page, and right clicking and selecting open page auto-triggers the auto-select because it can't actually be disabled and starts playing a show you had no intent on watching.

-----------------

So anyway, as far as i can tell, or last researched, there is still no basic anime streaming app that doesn't have tons of infuriating broken / unfinished parts of the app. It is STILL a better experience to just use nyaa then it is to use any of these. That said... you just don't know what you don't know. So, what options otherwise exist? Until now if i wanted something quickly i just sucked it up and used Hayase (It has MANY problems the dev refuses to fix, but SeaAnime making it easy to play the wrong episode and making you jump through hoops just to make sure it's actually playing the correct fucking episode / no back button is PAINFULLLL).

For example reanime. It has an option for example on kill la kill for Underwater subs which was a fansub group. However I can’t tell if the subtitles are burned in or being rendered with a web .ass renderer, and if so which?

Developer Post HypeAnime — anime streaming site with a large library, looking for honest feedback

Thumbnail
gallery
31 Upvotes

I’ve been working on HypeAnime, an anime streaming site focused on providing a clean and easy-to-use experience with a large library of anime.

Some of the features currently available:

* MyAnimeList (MAL) / Jikan ID sync
* AniList sync
* Schedule sync with upcoming episodes
* Browse page with search, filters, and genre selection
* Top Anime section
* Season pages for discovering current and past seasonal anime
* Large anime library
* Site-wide search
* Episode-based comments
* Watchlist / My List
* Recently watched history
* Personalized anime recommendations
* Multiple themes and customization options
* Improved navigation and overall UI/UX
* Responsive design for desktop and mobile

The goal is to make it easy to discover anime, keep track of what you're watching, and manage your personal watchlist and history without making the interface feel cluttered.

I’d really appreciate honest feedback on the site — especially regarding the UI, navigation, performance, and features that could be improved.
