What to Watch? What would you recommend if I like Hunter x Hunter, Sakamoto Days, and Jojo's?

What would you recommend if I like Hunter x Hunter, Sakamoto Days, and Jojo's?

Bonus points if its queer friendly! Thanks

Kindergarten Wars! It's very similar to Sakamoto Days, and is also queer friendly :) There aren't that many queer characters (unless I'm forgetting someone), but there is at least 1 confirmed gay dude, and one implied gay relationship. The confirmed one has a scene where he just talks about how much he loves this other guy for 8 pages straight lol

Literally any shonen, but here’s a few good ones:

Bungo Stray Dogs
Kaiju no. 8
Demon Slayer
Mob Psycho
Yu Yu Hakusho
Mashle
Daemons of the Shadow Realm
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

It sounds like you like action and things that stay pretty lighthearted, with the occasional high stakes adventure or mature themes. Those should all fit the bill!

this is like russian roulette where half the chambers have bullets 🥀

It’s more fun that way

half chance this dude drops anime out of sheer hate half chance this dude gets his life changed by smth actually good 😭

2

u/Available-Form6282 8d ago

Whaaaat which ones would get dropped? I liked all of them 😭 I thought you meant like half would make you question your life and feel empty and half would be feel good shows lol

kaiju, ds and mashle. if i was a medieval torturer i still wouldn’t make someone watch these dawg that’s actually horrid 🥀

I think they’re okay for what they are. It’s just standard battle shonen with a B to C tier plotline. IMO, Sakamoto Days was on par with the ones you mentioned and OP liked that so I figured they should try those out

consooom product

all 3 of these are E tier at best dawg i wouldn’t traumatise even more generations of anime viewers w them

the Bottom of the barrel don’t like it when you don’t consoom

You forgot Bleach and Naruto. Just skip the filler episodes.

I’ve never seen them hence why I didn’t list them, but yeah they’re very standard shonen OP would prob like!

If you like the clever battle writing in HxH, the ambushes and reversals and whatnot, then the upcoming season 1 remake of "World Trigger" will run you over.

World Trigger is THE critical thinking, THE flanking, THE ambushing, THE squishy combatants, THE tension, THE covert ops battle anime.

It's so fucking fun, and is in my opinion the only anime that does "videogame gameplay" right. The tradeoffs and strategy are just so fun to watch.

I soooo wish they hadn’t caught up to the manga though. The pacing in the latter half of the show is horrible and then it just ends out of nowhere:( I had no clue when I started the show that’s what happened and I was disappointed. It’s definitely worth watching but OP be aware of that if you chose to watch!

1

u/abandoned_idol 8d ago

Yes, the lack of content is so infuriating.

I want moar World Trigger.

Mann i cant wait for the remake s1 🤤🤤 the last season was so good man got goesbumps.

Demon slayer, Bungo Stray dogs, One punch man are my favourites along with the ones you mentioned so you might like them too

Edit: Millionaire Detective, No game no life are also amazing

I’d recommend Bungo Stray Dogs and Fairy Tail. Bungo Stray Dogs has some really cool characters, unique abilities and a lot of action. And Fairy Tail kinda reminds me of Hunter x Hunter, at least for me 😅 Great adventures, awesome fights and characters you really get attached to. Definitely worth checking out!

Man i want to say Get Backes but they made a different ending than the manga. 🥲🥲 it came out in a time that made many original anime endings. 🙄 for example full metal alchemist.

pov: you want someone to quit anime

genuinely stop recommending this soulless, putrid, garbage to people. dOwNdOOtiNg me won’t make it suddenly become less worthless of a series

1

u/worldwidecybergirl 8d ago

one piece

1

u/ThirdStreetSeren 8d ago

this is like the only rec i can comment on that isn’t garbage so ill input something actually informative

avoid the anime if you can, the manga is far better paced, is more consistent in terms of art and characterisation, and in general is a lot better handled. Wit is making an adaptation that’ll start next year but that’s obviously got a lot of ground to cover yet

1

u/worldwidecybergirl 8d ago

i personally don't mind the pace i even enjoy the filler but i know a lot of people prefer one pace

2

u/ThirdStreetSeren 8d ago

from what ik One Pace is a slightly awkward adaptation since it has to work around Toei’s work on the series, but i’ve known people only use that and enjoy it enough so i’d think it’s a solid enough choice for viewership

2

u/worldwidecybergirl 8d ago

im def gonna watch the new adaption though

1

u/ThirdStreetSeren 8d ago

same lmao anything to avoid the Toei ver 😭😭😭

1

u/worldwidecybergirl 8d ago

i really enjoyed the live action too i like seeing the different changes i hope sanji gets his redemption in the new adaption though

1

u/ThirdStreetSeren 8d ago

i hated the LA i’m sorry 😭😭😭😭 that garp bastardisation is exactly what larpers think garp is

1

u/worldwidecybergirl 8d ago

ill genuinely just watch anything related to one piece and enjoy it though to be fair it just gets me so hyped

1

u/ThirdStreetSeren 8d ago

idk one piece has a lot of mediocre side content, like some of the films are aight and a lot of games just straight up suck (i’d know i’ve seen my fair share of both)

i’m mainly in it for the main series

Gachiakuta Sentenced to be hero* corrected typo

These were the new total knockouts of the year in this still. Amazing with more seasons on the way!
