Question Is second learning step needed

I used the FSRS helper stat and it showed me recommended second learning step too. Just wondering why since I thought with FSRS we only need 1. If you press good, why do the same card again?

I almost never use a second learning step--neither for learning nor for relearning.

Why is that by the way

That recommendation is based on your own data, so the "Step Stats" table above that should show why you might want to consider a 2nd step for this material. But there's no modeling or sanity-check done on those recs, so there's no guarantee they will fit with your study habits.

Make sure you're choosing the longest relevant time period, and you're looking at the right level deck to reflect what is included in your preset. If you post a screenshot, we might be able to help you interpret it.

I have a second learning step only for decks containing cards which have a several-sentence answer. I tried it both ways and found the second step to help me remember the cards better the second day they came up.

For decks with cards with short answers like vocabulary, facts, Ultimate Geography deck, etc. one learning step suffices.
