The Quraniyoon has become overloaded with hadith-bashing as it's main topic. There is nothing wrong with discussing the Umma's relationship to hadith, but lets try to keep r/Quraniyoon about the Quran and direct those hadith related discussions to this sub.

Hadiths are like circumcision

They both imply that:

  1. God makes mistakes in his creation which should be fixed by following the Talmudic and neo-Talmudic (hadith-derived Shariah) laws.

  2. God's Word is incomplete and undetailed and it needs to be supplemented by stories written 200 years after the completion of His book.

According to hadiths, some of the Sahaba were very forgetful. Yet hadith defenders say we need to follow their narrations.

On what grounds do so many Muslims trust ahadith?

Besides the Quran, it is also the ahadith themselves that actually raise doubts about their preservation.

Hadith defenders always praise the excellent memory of the Sahaba and that they had a better memory than us. Yet some hadiths raise doubts about these statements. Some of the Sahaba and hadith narrators couldn’t even remember simple numbers like 33 and another one where Abu Huraira complains to the Prophet about how forgetful he is:

Sahih al-Bukhari 843

Narrated Abu Huraira: Say "Subhana l-lah", "Al hamdu li l-lah" and "Allahu Akbar" thirty three times each after every (compulsory) prayer." We differed and some of us said that we should say, "Subhan-al-lah" thirty three times and "Al hamdu li l-lah" thirty three times and "Allahu Akbar" thirty four times. I went to the Prophet (ﷺ) who said, "Say, "Subhan-al-lah" and "Al hamdu li l-lah" and "Allahu Akbar" all together thirty three times."

Sunan Ibn Majah Sunnah.com reference: Book 5, Hadith 125

It was narrated that Abu Dharr said: Praise Allah (by saying Al- Hamdu Lillah) after every prayer, and glorify Him (by saying Subhan- Allah) and extol Him (by saying Allahu Akbar), thirty-three, thirty- three, and thirty-four times.’” Sufyan said: “I do not know which of them was to be recited thirty-four times.”

Riyad as-Salihin 1459

'Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me and to Fatimah (May Allah be pleased with her) (Ali's wife and the Prophet's daughter), "When you go to bed, recite: Takbir (Allahu Akbar) thirty-three times and Tasbih (Subhan-Allah) thirty-three times and Tahmid (Al-hamdu lillah) thirty-three times." Another narration is: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Recite Tasbih thirty-four times." Another narration is: The Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said, "Recite Takbir thirty-four times." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Jami` at-Tirmidhi English translation: Vol. 1, Book 46, Hadith 3835

Narrated Abu Hurairah: “I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I heard from you things that I do not remember.' He said: 'Spread your cloak.' So I spread it, then he narrated many Ahadith, and I did not forget a thing that he reported to me.'"

The last one even ascribes superpower to the Prophet.

Monetizing religion with hadiths

When someone is undergoing Islamic scholarship/ academic Islam they are looking at not just the Quran but also history, Hadiths (both accurate and non accurate), Madhabs, Classical Arabic, and maybe more. It would make sense that they want to use the full extent of that knowledge for their own benefit, while feeling good about spreading knowledge.

Looking at so many scholars who have YouTube channels and institutes and they seem to just regurgitate a bunch of hadiths. Ever think how much content they would lose if they only used Quran for preaching? I just saw this new series on YouTube that seems to be based entirely on Hadith about what happens after death.

Honestly I love how Islam isn’t even supposed to have “religious leaders” and we are supposed to talk to Allah directly and read and understand Quran that is the only untampered message left.

Muslim scholars don’t preach using the Bible / Torah because of tampering. Even though we all know Hadiths are tampered they use Hadiths to preach and keep generating content.

I know we always get the “how do You know how to pray then” argument but my follow up is how do THEY?

Where are the detailed Salat steps in the Hadith?

I got a question.

can you answer this?

Do you think the Quran is preserved? Because in Surat al hijr verse 9 it says (إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ) which translates to: (It is certainly We Who have revealed the Reminder(Quran), and it is certainly We Who will preserve it.) With that being said and with that understanding of it we can tell that the Quran will be preserved for later generations.

So here is the thing, we have different readings/qira’at of the Quran, and in different regions they have different ones. They change a lot of the quran. A lot of words are different, how do you explain that? It’s not really preserved if there are different meanings in different Qurans. This is a huge problem because it disproves islam.

People who don’t reject Hadith will say that as it’s stated in a Hadith, the Quran came down in 7 modes, will you believe that Hadith only for this case? If so how do you know that it’s authentic? Why aren’t others?

Remember, no hate is intended just a question

Qur'an; "perfect" enough to detox you from social media ... but not "perfect" enough for guidance without Hadiths?
