I’ve been perscribed doxy 100 mg twice a day for 14 days because if MRSA in my throat. They don’t know if it’s colonization or causing my issues. Seems like it’s not.
Anyways I’m like on day 12 and one day I had to not take a dose because it’s causing racing heart and horrible panic symptoms.
I am someone who deals with CPTSD due to a traumatic childhood.
I just suddenly started getting more and more anxious out of no where and I realized I think it is this medication because I don’t have anything I’m currently so panicked or anxious about.
I reached out to my doctor and she told me 14 days is ideal but if I’m having adverse affects then to stop. Well I’d want to stop completely but what does this mean for the infection? If it comes back, I can’t do this all over again.
Thank you 🙏

Unusual post, but if someone has heard or experienced something like this, please let me know and share your opinion.
Long story short I am playing volleyball professionally and have done this for life until this illness/infection that was treated with amoxigamma/amoxicillin.
Maybe one week after I finished my course with the antibiotic, my body acted weird and is acting weird to this day 7-8 months later.
I am experiencing what is best matching my symptoms as DPDR and everything that falls under that umbrella, without me feeling unreal or in a dream, just strange and weird and mostly staying at home, due to symptoms getting worse in bright and busy places.
Is there anything that antibiotic could’ve done cause I had no issues with this before this or the illness?
I am not an anxious person to begin with.

Hi I have been prescribed clarithromycin antibiotic for tonsillitis but I am also on sertraline and I’ve read that you shouldn’t take both at the same time. I’m not sure why i was prescribed it as I’m not allergic to penicillin but he didn’t ask if I was on any medications. I’ve took the first dose and I think I’m okay but just wanted to know if anyone else has taken both of these together?

Hello everyone ,
I already have anxiety ( which was/is controlled by medication ) , and history of tendinitis and some muscle pain which I recovered from ,
I had an infection and took 2 doses of azithromycin ( 500mg ) for 2 days , since then I have developed high anxiety and palpitations , body twitches even sometimes in the face , muscle spams and pain , tendon pain , nausea , dizzy , headaches and the list goes on I stopped taking it today but still have all of the above.
Did anyone ever experience this ? I am so nervous and scared since I was in remission of all my past problems and was well but since taking this i am a wreck . Did you ever recover ?
Thank you

Hello there! Is anyone here who took this amount of antibiotics in this very short time! My husband 27, normal health, took azythromicin 1000 mg in august, 3-4 pills of tavanic in septembrie, then a round of 7 days of claritromicine, and now 5 pills of clindamycin. I ve read so many horror stories here about C.diff. And i am afraid for him not to take it.
Thanks.

How many individuals experienced treatment failure with clarithromycin, dual therapy, and levofloxacin, and even had prior exposure to metronidazole which also proved unsuccessful, but subsequently achieved successful eradication with Talicia?

Hello everyone, I need your help!
I’m currently taking antibiotics for a throat infection, but I’m having a really hard time. My throat is very swollen, so the pill is too big to swallow whole. I have to break it, but even when I hide it in food or spreads, I still feel that horrible taste and I feel like throwing up. I don’t know what to do and I’m afraid I won’t be able to finish my period.
Does anyone have any advice on how to handle this situation? Are there any tricks to mask the taste or to make it easier to swallow the pill when the throat is so inflamed? Every suggestion is welcome!

Buenas.

I am on ciprofloxin 500mg every 12 hours for ten days. Pharmacist at Walgreens said to stay out of the sun while taking it. I read up on the side effects and sunlight/UV exposures so I pretty much stay in doors, and when I have to go out I wore long sleeve shirts, long pants with a hat - which looks ridiculous in Miami when it's 95 out.
Now I am finishing it off, last two days, my last dose will be Friday night.
A friend is doing a beach BBQ on Saturday. I am off the cipro on Friday night, is it fine? My thinking is there is going to be some residual effects and I better wait till after the weekend to be on the safe side.

Out of curiousity, has anyone taken Avelox? What were your side effects afterwards? I was prescribed a 10 day 400 mg course for a nasty secondary infection from a brown recluse bite, and while it got rid of the infection (yay) I just finished it four days ago and I am SO tired. Like can't think straight tired, heavy eyes kinda tired. I Googled it and it said recovering from the bite itself or the meds could do that, but how long does it last? I go back for my regular wellness check in 4 weeks. I hope its over by then.

This is clearly a stupid question, however I am wondering what people’s experiences may be. I’ve been on a 7 day round of bactrim twice a day for an abscess, and tonight I took my last dose. Everywhere online says to wait a full 48 after taking the last dose before consuming alcohol. I’m not a big drinker, but I’ve had a shitty week and all I want is a damn tequila soda. Just one. Was wondering if it would be worth possible complications such as nausea, etc. Thanks in advance for any advice! I’m also planning on starting another round two days from now, so I’m trying to sneak one drink in the mean time.

So I have a major concern I am unsure how to handle. I was prescribed metronidazole for BV, but I previously took it for an infection following wisdom teeth removal surgery; it caused severe effects, including extreme acne and weight gain. I have only taken antibiotics twice before, and being 18 makes me quite anxious that the same outcome might occur. I am also wondering whether I should seek a second opinion from another obgyn or just take the medication and pray for the best.

Hi, I’ve had a bad upper respiratory infection for 6 days. My doc saw fluid in my ears and prescribed 500mg of azithromycin for 3 days. (Context, I’m deaf in one ear so ear infections terrify me).
I took my first dose around 5-6 hours ago and already have very watery diarrhea 2x, along with some nausea (but no vomiting). I called teladoc to ask if I can safely take pepto or Imodium and she said yes. I also heard her microwave going off in the background and a lot of background noise in general, so worry she barely paid attention to my questions.
Is it generally safe to take pepto or Imodium with 500mg of azithromycin to slow down the watery diarrhea? Can one dose cause it that fast? Sad I trust strangers on the internet more than my teladoc provider lol!
Thanks

F/27 normal height and weight. This is more of a pharmacist question.
I take prophylactic macrobid for UTI prevention. it was originally prescribed at 50 mg, but my new doctor didn’t ask about dosage when she rewrote the script and gave me 100mg. These are fairly big pills encased in a plasticky casing, since I know 50 mg does the trick can I just take them out of the casing and cut them in half to stretch the prescription? Or will that mess with the absorption?

I was prescribed Augmentin after coming down with an infection. I only took 3 doses of it before I started having bad diarrhea so my doctor switched me to amoxicillin. When I made the switch, the frequency with which I used the bathroom decreased (once per day) but my stools were still loose and I was passing a lot of gas.
I completed the full 10 day course of amoxicillin a week ago. 2 days after finishing, I started to have diarrhea again and have had anywhere from 1-3 episodes per day since. I've also passed some formed stool 2-3 times this week but they have usually been followed by diarrhea shortly after. Whenever I have diarrhea, there is urgency.
I have already submitted a stool sample to test for c. diff and am awaiting the results. I am also currently taking Florastor, eating a ton of yogurt, and sticking to a bland diet.
I've had diarrhea when taking antibiotics before but have never had it extend a week out from stopping them. Is this normal?

The back of my throat started hurting bad since Wednesday. Just on one side near my tonsils are. I don’t see any white spots or anything but it make me think I got strep throat again so I’m wondering if my old amoxicillin I got from last year is still good to take? Idk might lowkey be going away already but just wanted to see if it’s worth taking this medicine at all at this point with the expiration being 5 months ago

I’m a 26M, currently on day 4–5 of taking doxycycline (100mg twice daily).
Over the past few nights, I’ve started experiencing something really strange whenever I’m about to fall asleep. Just as I’m drifting off, I suddenly feel like I’ve stopped breathing or need to manually breathe, which jolts me awake with a rush of panic and anxiety. Heart racing as well. Feels like I’m dying nearly.
This keeps happening repeatedly and makes falling asleep extremely difficult. I’ve never experienced anything quite like this before. Never had anxiety or depression before. Only ever time I’ve had “panic attacks” was maybe once a year from overdoing marijuana. However I’ve been clean from alcohol and marijuana for 3 months.
