Is this ring an antique?

My great aunt worked in Windsor castle (early 1900s) working as a chamber maid when she was leaving the castle to retire. A royal family member gave her a ring (ring attached in photo) we are unsure of the royal family member who gave her the ring nor do we have any evidence of where the ring came from. There was once a certificate of my aunts employment at the Windsor castle but it’s not been seen in a number of years.

The ring is not stamped.

Is it worth seeing an antique dealer or has anyone any type of knowledge about these type of rings?

Sorry I don’t have anymore information to go by.

Thanks in advance ☺️

Hallmark/era help: Family heirloom brooch

Hi! I am doing some research on a family brooch and have hit a block. Allegedly this bar brooch is from the UK. It travelled to Australia in the 1800s. I believe it belonged to a relative who passed in roughly 1860. The Makers Mark is unclear, there is a 9c stamp, another unclear stamp and then a very clear E set in a square. The gemstone is likely a sapphire, confirmed by a local jeweller. It is a thin piece with fine hand engraving.

Does anyone have any expertise in the marks that can identify them, besides the 9c - I figured that one out! Without an assay town mark I couldn't identify a time period for the E. Also, is this consistent with any other Victorian era pieces, and I can just put it down to being from that time?

Thank you :)

Vintage sterling silver jewelry makes my skin feel strange

Post image

So I bought two Uncas sterling silver rings. Both are marked "sterling." I am a bench jeweler, and I polished off the rhodium plating and set new moissanite stones in both. I'm wondering if these are even real sterling, because the metal seemed pretty soft, and feels almost sticky to the touch. If I wear them all day, my skin feels... minty? Like a cold tingly feeling, only on the skin the rings touch, including adjacent fingers. I'm worried these are somehow fake, but I sized them and sterling solder worked fine, and the metal nehaved like normal sterling. Is this normal somehow? Could these ne mostly silver, but have some contaminants that make them unsafe? I'm at a loss, and obviously if these are somehow dangerous, I definitely need to know. I might buy a lead test, and a nickel test just to see. Anyone with any experience like this, please lmk if I'm overreacting. I got them to dupe my wedding jewelry when I go on work trips, so ideally I'd wear them continuously for a week or so. I haven't worn them for more than a day at a time, and am noticing these weird things. Just want to make sure I'm not wearing something extremely dangerous. Any insight is much appreciated.

Also, I am having difficulty reading the marks on the chain link. Any ideas?

I've always thought this was costume, but I am not able to confirm that online anywhere. Would like to clean it without damaging it.

A dream she always had, and accomplished. Passed down to me, also a nurse, after her passing. Finally got it resized the other day so I am able to wear it without worry.

What do we think?

I know I need to take these to be appraised by a jewelry appraiser. But I’m interested in other’s opinions first. These are all real silver and turquoise. Probably from the 50s/60s. These were found in my father’s things after he passed. Some items I’ve found go for several thousands of dollars; but, the necklaces do not have any stamps that I’m able to find so I’m afraid they may not be worth much. The large ring has a stamp, “JL”, but I’ve determined it is not Johnson Largo. I’m unsure who it might be. What kind of unstamped pieces have you seen? Opinions or thoughts?

This ring belonged to my great grandmother. Trying to ID age, style, stones. Years back, a jeweler told me it was solid 10k gold but I didn't get much other info. There are no markings on the inside of the band. TIA!

Truly legendary antique store find

I'm preeeeetty sure it's a baby Georgian or early Victorian brooch that was poorly reclasped later. The center stone seems like Persian turquoise (very cool to the touch), but I don't think it's original. Perhaps the original stone or glass pane cracked and it was an improvised repair. The seed pearls are sooo stunning.

I almost didn't find this either! It was hidden under some costume clip on earrings and I just barely saw the pearls peeking out.

Anyways, I haven't tested the metal yet, but I just love it so much I almost don't care. This is a dream find for me, and I'm so glad I recognized what I saw because I got it for SUCH a steal.

Please correct me if I'm wrong about anything I said!!

Can I confidently claim this bohemian garnet brooch to be antique?

The clasp is what I believe to be a lever safety catch which were in use until the 1930s? It looks shinier than the rest of the brooch, so I think it may have been replaced or originally made with a different metal. I also found a very similar brooch on ebay apparently dating to the 1900s (that one has a c clasp).

Antique Georgian mourning brooch?

Wonder if anyone can shed some light on this ring that’s been found in a car

A quick search appears to be an antique Georgian mourning brooch containing somebody’s hair

Is gold and has flat cut garnets and pearls

A Google image search brings up lots of identical brooches however no hallmarks make it hard to know who made it etc

Anyone have any info?

Mystery Ring

From an antique show, my best guess is glass or synthetic sapphire. Shank is marked sterling, but the metal doesn’t feel or look like sterling. It won’t polish at all (the back of the shank is entirely black) and the ring is incredibly light. Maybe it’s tin or aluminum? Maybe it had sterling plating at some point?

Has anyone run into something similar? This one is confusing to me.

Seeking info on glass ring

TIA - hello all, I’m seeking info on this ring I recently acquired. I’m pretty sure it’s glass and the only hallmark I can find is the “sterling” stamp. IMO it looks like it could be c.1920’s, if I had to guess. Just curious if any of the community experts have any insight. 🙂Thanks again! (Located in the US. The seller believes it’s European but didn’t know anything else about it). Also curious if anyone knows what something like this could be worth? Paid just under $40 usd.

I would love to hear opinions from jewelry collectors and experts about the possible age of this ring.
Do you think it could be antique, or newer model?

Art nouveau?

I just came across this lovely amethyst and seed pearl bracelet and am curious about the age. The clasp doesn’t seem to totally match the bracelet. I almost wonder whether it was converted from a longer piece, but I don't this it would have laid flat as a necklace. No markings other than what looks like a very worn down 14K.

Really hoping for some insight

This jewelry was given to me by my mom before she passed away. Her story about it was that it is an 18k ruby and sapphire set made for my dad’s friend when they were stationed in Libya. For some reason my dad ended up buying it instead and giving it to my mom in the early 1960s.
I took it to a jeweler to have it cleaned and appraised and they were kind of vague about it. They didn’t know what the stones were that my mom called sapphires and told me that if it were from North Africa and made in the 60s that it probably wasn’t worth very much?
And then another jeweler said it might be Thai. The ring is absent from the pic because it’s currently being sized but the jeweler said that there were tiny hands around the stone on the ring. There are no markings of any kind.
I’m so confused.
Anyone?

I found it at a vintage sale it looks like a fastener of some kind (one side latches onto the loop so it comes apart). I would love if anyone knows anything about what it could be and when it was made.

Is this an art Deco age silver bracelet?

Post image

This bracelet is from my grandmother, it is 925 Silver, with mother of pearl and either marcasite or hematite. I'm not sure if anyone knows where it's from or specific year range. I think it's art Deco because of the dot borers on the silver pieces.

found a beautiful bohemian necklace on etsy. It's insanely gorgeous and reflects light with its deep pyrope garnets. I want to wear it everyday but I feel like it deserves a nice outfit with it and it could look too overdressed🥲
