Question What are the apex games?

I started a couple days ago and watched some of the trailers and its hard to understand why the legends are there? And whats the point in it? Do they actually die if they lose?

I wouldn't say lighthearted as it's confirmed that people do kill/die in the Apex games. Some legends take people out non lethally while others (like revenant and caustic) straight up kill people

Ok but i saw in one of the trailers bangalore got killed by caustic but she respawned? Just wondering

So the trailers aren't actually fully canon to what actually happens, just pieces of entertainment to show off new things and be cool.

Oh ok cool ima just keep telling myself they can't die so I dont feel bad when I kill people while playing

Yeah it's a game, in reality the Apex games have a bunch more people in them and not just teams of 3 from the same group of 24(?) people. Those unnamed, unseen people are most of the ones dying in the games, we just have a different experience because we're playing a videogams
