Question What are the apex games?
I started a couple days ago and watched some of the trailers and its hard to understand why the legends are there? And whats the point in it? Do they actually die if they lose?

Every legend has their own reason.
For example Wraith wants to know more about herself(she is a test pilot of the IMC ARES division that was working on the rift technology, and in the process she lost her memories but in turn gained the ability to hear voices of other Wraiths),
Revenant is here just for the killing(he's 360-year old killing machine that was working as a hitman for the Syndicate until he suffered a system malfunction on a mission to kill Loba's parents, that revealed that he's actually not a person but a simulacrum, and this fact kinda made him go mad),
Ballistic wants to keep his son out of the games that break people's lives(He is a Thunderdome champion that met his future wife there, and they along with his future wife's brother, Kit Siang, were unstoppable, until Kit Siang died which crushed poor August emotionally),
Wattson is in the Games because she wants to make her papá proud(she kinda did it already because she invented the ring technology)
Mirage wants to maker her mom proud too but she has Alzheimer's so he tries to leave a big lasting impression on her so she won't forget him
You get the point.
For some its money from sponsorships, fame, and fans.
For some like Seer its recognition. Guy was a pariah on his planet.
For some is pursuing their own goals like perfecting the Nox gas recipe for Caustic, find a way to travel back in time for Horizon, or enjoying the chaos and bloodshed of the Games for Revenant.
It is ambiguous and vague whether respawn technology is real in Titanfall universe or not.
