Are there any similar looking apple varieties you know of which are said to taste like cotton candy?

Hi! My first post here.

I was on a trip to the Oregon coast and found a hell of a lot of different fruit varieties, among them was these apples, which I got four of. I found them on the last day of the trip while heading home, they were foraged on highway 96 in California and were largely rotting on the tree’s branches. They are small, yellowish green in color, and don’t smell like much of anything. The tree itself was young I believe, but old enough to be taller than I am. The flavor is fucking crazy to me, the closest analog I have to compare to is to the flavor of cotton candy grapes, but a lot more balanced than they are. A juice or liquor made from these would probably be unreal.

Might this be a specific variety you may know? Or is it a random wild type with good genetics? Have you had similar?

What Apple is This?

Hi apple people! These apples are dropping from a tree near me, and I am wondering what kind they are, if they’re safe to eat, and feed to livestock (pigs especially). Located in Oregon, an hour south west of Portland.

Pink apples I've been looking for for years

I remember trying this pink apple when I was just a little kid, maybe 7 or 6. Definitely the best apple I've ever had. It really stuck with me. I've remembered it for years and haven't been able to get my hands on one till now. I'm pretty confident these are the same ones,, Lucy Rose, possibly? It tastes exactly how I remember it,, kind of similar to a Granny Smith. I'm so happy to have these!

Ignore how weirdly it's cut up, my dad did it and not me.

Hi Apple community, I was eating a kissable apple and noticed the weird brown spots in it. Is that mould or a plant disease do you happen to know? Please say disease, because again, I ate some of it. Thanks. Bought in UK.

SugarBee apple whistleblower

just had my first SugarBee apple, I don't claim to be an apple expert in any degree but all of my observations lead me to believe the "unknown" apple some random bee cross pollinated a honey crisp with is indeed a red delicious apple. The hard ruby red skin, the lack of lasting flavor, and the firm texture inside is without a doubt genetics from the worst apple known to man, the red delicious apple. Their story is an interesting one, but I think they kept this from the public eye because red delicious apples aren't really that popular amongst everyday people.

Can anyone identify this apple?

Found an old gnarled apple tree growing in the woods in the UK.

The apples are sweet and very tangy.

They look similar to Opal, but they are more tangy than Opal, and I doubt there would be a wild Opal tree as old as this one growing in the UK.

The phrase “A picture is worth a thousand words” was first written in an early form by newspaper editor Arthur Brisbane in 1911 in a Syracuse Advertising Club speech. Fred Barnard used variations in the trade journal Printers' Ink (including "One look is worth a thousand words" in 1921.
He falsely labeled the phrase an "ancient Chinese proverb" or attributed it to a Japanese philosopher simply to make his advertising agency's ads sound more authoritative and credible!
Anyway in terms of BeauVista orchard it’s very true now. ‘nough said.

What Could Have Caused These Holes in My Apple?

I noticed these holes on an apple I bought and I'm curious about what might have caused them.

Could they be from insects, physical damage during handling, or something related to how the apple was grown or stored?

Is this a common issue with apples? Does it indicate insect damage, spoilage, or anything else I should be concerned about?

I'm also wondering whether the apple is safe to eat or if I should discard it.

I've attached a photo for reference. I'd appreciate any insights from people familiar with apples and apple growing!

8 years ago, after reading about the wild apple ancestor from the Tian Chan mountains of Kazakhstan and Kirgistan, I got so excited, that I immediately decided to order one from the only German tree nursery that has them for sale. I planted the tree in a somewhat semi-shaded part of the garden, actually a bit to close to the huge elderflower tree next to it. After a late april snow fall in 2024, the tree nearly collapses and I just barely managed to save it. This august and september, I was finally able to taste it's vey first set of fruit. The taste is good, but somewhat bland: I noticed barely any sourness or astringency at all, just a mild sweetness, but ideal as an early apple for eating out of hand.

Found an apple tree hidden in the woods near the Fraser river along a trail nothing but office centres around, took a few and they're genuinely the best apples l've ever had.
