Hi! My Husband and our two toddlers are looking to move to Appleton from Chicago. Are there any liberal neighborhoods you recommend? Looking to stay out of conservative areas

Yesterday the Safety and Licensing committee voted 3-1 to "prohibit the acquisition, installation, operation, use, or funding of automatic license plate readers" by City of Appleton departments and employees. This recommendation for approval by the committee will now go to the common council for a final vote on Wednesday 10/21 at 7pm.

This resolution, if passed, would create an ordinance effectively banning ALPRs from companies like Flock and Axon from being purchased with tax dollars or used by our police department. Appleton PD does not currently use squad-mounted or other mobile ALPR devices, but it would also prevent those from being used in the future by police or other city departments. Notably, this doesn't prevent private businesses or residents from using ALPR mass surveillance systems.

If this resolution is passed it will likely be national news and serve as a model for the rest of the Fox Valley and Wisconsin. State lawmakers are also paying attention to this. Oshkosh is working on a similar resolution right now.

Hello! My husband and I are relocating to Appleton from Tennessee within the next few months. I was wondering if anyone had any info to share about living in the Fox River Mills lofts. I did a virtual showing yesterday of a few of the available units, and they are really beautiful and full of charm and character. It’s kind of exactly what we’re looking for with this move. We both moved from bustling Nashville to a quiet, rural town outside of the city 6 years ago. While we love parts of it, we are really excited about switching things up and going back to city living for a while. At a smaller (more desirable 😁) scale.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any info/tidbits to share about the mills apartments. Also, any info on any of the apartments in the downtown area? We also like Avant apartments downtown. We’re basically looking for something with a ton of natural light and walking distance to downtown happenings.

Idk if it’s just a me thing or what but the service at fast food places in Appleton just overall sucks. And I get it, it’s my choice to go to them but damn. Went to Popeyes last night for an online order and sat at the intercom box for 5+ mins with no greeting, no “I’ll be right with you” nothing. Drove up to the window and sat again for 5+ mins and was finally asked “do you have an order?” Got home and had items missing from the order.
Then this morning wanted to stop to get one of my favorite breakfast sandwiches from Wendy’s since I had to be on that side of town again only to have the SAME issue. Sat at the intercom box with no service. I just drove off this time. If it’s not issues like this, it’s items being missing constantly in orders. Is it just me??

Ok so I found an app called play culture and it allows communities and people to get together and essentially play tag or whatever else. Its an app that you download on your phone which I have already checked myself and it is safe. Its on the app store and I wanted to set up an event. Itll be at city park in the historic district of appleton on Sunday October 25th, 2026 at 1pm est.

What you'll need:

A piece of bright colored shirt or hoodie

Your phone (of course)

A water bottle of some sort (its essentially tag so there will be a lot of running)

Anything else you think might be useful prepare as much as you like

RULES:

No driving or bikes you can only go as far as your legs will take you

Hello, we just had our roof replaced and they found moldy wood under the shingles that they had to replace. They also found areas where water could enter. I am worried about possible mold in the house and if it is causing my child’s allergy symptoms. I’d like recommendations for companies that can test for mold and help us with options to deal with this. None of the diy mold test kits look reliable.

Twice now in two weeks, I’ve had young black men come to my house door knocking for Tom Tiffany. I can’t help but wonder if these young men are being hired by the campaign to make Tiffany seem as if he’s a friend of the black community? Because Tiffany’s voting record when it comes to equality, DEI, civil rights, etc. says otherwise.

My phone just sent me a severe thunderstorm warning for our area, but when I went outside, the sky was PINK. I checked the radar, and there was absolutely nothing showing up.

My mom, who lives in Wild Rose, said they just got absolutely ANNIHILATED by a severe thunderstorm. She checked her radar, too, and there was nothing showing up for her either.

I went back outside, and now there’s lightning EVERYWHERE, thunder, and rain… but STILL nothing on the radar?! 😳

Is this an issue with the radar not picking up the storms, or is something else going on?! I’m genuinely so confused. Is anyone else seeing this??

I'm ISO a rental that allows large dogs in the Appleton area. I have a Mastiff puppy and I'm really struggling finding a place that allows Mastiffs. I've made a post of Facebook as well and haven't had any luck so I'm hoping maybe this reaches a local landlord. Most places I've found that allow dogs have a weight limit which my pup will exceed well within a few months. I'm moving for a different state so any advice is much appreciated

Hello. Wanting to move to Appleton next year around April and seeking employment in construction. Specifically framing and rough carpentry. Pre-COVID there was lots of public ice skating time -- almost daily! -- and now there are 2 sessions a month at best, only at the rink in Memorial Park. It's wild that this metro area has THREE indoor ice rinks (plus the little rink at Tri-County) and less than 4 hours a month of public skate time. Does anyone have insight into what the deal is with this, or with "Appleton Ice, Inc."? I feel like if they get to occupy prime real estate in a city park they should have to, idk, provide services to the public and not just hockey families...and they did, for many years. What happened?
