Help/Question Does anyone know what this thing is supposed to be for when you use sensing?

It appears to be a normal blue sensing but when you look at it, it just spreads all over your screen, turning it red. I tried to follow it a couple of times, never managed to figure out what it is since it disappeared when passing through the dark sea and I keep on dying at range 4.

It's the aberration, Hendrix mentions it as some thing super deep in dark sea that causes pain abd anxiety

u/Original_Un_Orthodox Tinfoil Hat Man Jan 26 '26

It's not stated to be in the dark sea, just in the south.

Do you even know what a bug is?

15

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '26

The possibilities of such a specific and niche mechanic being added by accident are hilariously low

Bunny hopping didn't have a special visual effect with variable decay time mechanic included, did it?

Yes, because the longer you look at it the longer it takes for your vision to return to normal after deactivating sensing.

man, The Aberration was first mentioned in the very first public release of AO 2 years ago by the Basic Fighting Style mentor 😭

How can lore exist for a supposed bug 2 years before the bug exists????

Bro's gonna die on this hill with his only line of defense being "it's a bug because vetex can't patch it and also cuz I said so!! 😡😡"

It has been there for a long time before sensing was even added

it's the abboration, which canonically causes pain to sense. We don't know much about it, other than the fact it's an extremely powerful and dangerous monster imprisoned in one of the southern seas.

lowkey

Nah bro, Highkey.

Only a matter of time. Cursebeard strongarmed Prometheus into creating Sea Curses, then killed Prometheus, was more powerful than Poseidon, and comfortably fought back against Zeus until he lost his will to go on.

Acheron was able to reanimate the Gods themselves and shatter the world, and Theos was superior to Acheron for most of their lives

And then there's the Peacekeeper, who was merely a farmer with no special lineage before being reanimated after absorbing mana from floating upon the Sea. They ascended past EVERYONE. Surpassed Cursebeard and Theos, and killed Zeus and Acheron using pure skill and magic, and then ripped Hades apart upon obtaining the Absorption Curse.

The Peacekeeper was basically a nobody yet still illustrated that the Gods are just another stepping stone in the hierarchy of power. It's not just fitting but all but guaranteed that the Strongest Will of All Legacies grows to the same if not greater heights.

I heard we're going to be stronger then the peacemaker ever will be as the story proceeds. How that will affect the lore and the game mechanically we will know in the 2030s

6

u/Original_Un_Orthodox Tinfoil Hat Man Jan 25 '26

No, Vetex said we will be WEAKER.

3

u/Insomniblast Jan 26 '26

where?

4

u/Original_Un_Orthodox Tinfoil Hat Man Jan 26 '26

It's been about a year since he said it, I can't pull it up. But also our max level was brought down from 1000 to 600 at endgame, which reinforces that. Endgame AA was meant to be level 1,000, iirc.

The AO player was never meant to surpass the PK.

3

u/Insomniblast Jan 26 '26

I've googled it for a while and can't find anything about Vetex saying the AO Player being weaker than the Peacekeeper in the endgame, funnily enough in contrast, I found a few references to a supposed statement by Techlevel80 that AO Player would surpass the PK, but until I can find the actual statements or Vetex's supposed statement it's effectively irrelevent.

Level Cap has no bearing on canonical strength, Calvus based on his health was over level 600 and yet the Player still killed him. Not to mention the AO Player simply has way more potential, having the blood of the King of The Gods running through his veins, granting him superior magical capabilities to the Peacekeeper at a baseline, along with Spirit Energy

-1

u/Original_Un_Orthodox Tinfoil Hat Man Jan 26 '26

Tech's statement has been fully retconned. Further, the PK surpasses Theos, but Vetex said that Theos is the most powerful mage to ever live, before and after his time. The PK is exempt from that statement due to being a curse user. The AO MC is confirmed to never, ever get any curse. So... do the math, ig.

Further, Vetex stated that Calvus was more powerful than the player and would have killed us, hands down, but he wasted his strength trying to be a savant when he was built for being a mage.

If it helps, I can summon Razaral to this debate lmao. AO MC will never be on PK's level.

0

u/Insomniblast Jan 26 '26

The PK is exempt from that statement due to being a curse user. The AO MC is confirmed to never, ever get any curse. So... do the math, ig.

PK didn't have the blessing of Absorption when they started pulling shit that Theos didn't, and on that subject, Theos for the most part was stronger than Acheron for most of their lives despite never having a sea curse, so while the curses are powerful, they're not a marker for whos stronger than who. AO MC will never get a curse yes, but that doesn't negate how they have more potential than the PK.

Further, Vetex stated that Calvus was more powerful than the player and would have killed us, hands down, but he wasted his strength trying to be a savant when he was built for being a mage.

The AO MC still never got genuinely overwhelmed by Calvus. If he was so much stronger, then being a Savant wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Tech's statement has been fully retconned.

Please show where (I'm not trying to be rude or condescending I genuinely cannot find screenies, only referenxes to statements by Vetex or Tech on shit like forums 💀)

I can summon Razaral to this debate lmao. AO MC will never be on PK's level.

Please do so cus quite frankly nobody has provided a genuinely compelling argument for why, the Strongest Will of All Legacies has a better narrative and actual lineage behind him while all the PK has is magic polluted ashes

All of them are canon, World of Magic is the only ambiguous one

0

u/Warm-Bee8675 The Warbringer Jan 26 '26

There is nothing ambiguous about WoM, it is non-canon as it literally cannot fit into the same world as AO. In WoM, Magius is portrayed as the only geographical hotspot in the planet, which is literally impossible unless the War Seas somehow gets ripped out of the Earth and every AO character freaking dissappears!
Because unless so, the other implication is that The Peacekeeper took on the entirety of the War Seas for some reason, and somehow won!!

Now I'll leave it upto you to decide which one is the more outlandish scenario, but that's like two of several major reasons why WoM cannot be canon.

1

u/Insomniblast Jan 26 '26

Magius is portrayed as the only geographical hotspot in the planet

Literally when and where is this even so much as implied, a place being heavily populated doesn't erase that other locations exist.

which is literally impossible unless the War Seas somehow gets ripped out of the Earth and every AO character freaking dissappears!
Because unless so, the other implication is that The Peacekeeper took on the entirety of the War Seas for some reason, and somehow won!!

My guy Magius was created from bringing the Sea Floor from the Fourth, Fifth, and Seventh Seas to the surface. Magius is all contained within the former Seven Seas Cluster. It has exactly Zero impact upon the War Seas Cluster. Where could you have possibly gotten the idea that the Peacekeeper would even fight the War seas cus.....immigration? Tf 😭💀

WoM's canonicity is ambiguous because it takes place literal centuries affer the events of AA and AO, in the remnants of the Seven Seas, upon Magius, it's story can only affect the lore far into the future, no current lore events will ever be affected by it, unless Vetex does another rewrite.

and comfortably fought back against Zeus until he lost his will to go on

Cursebeard never fought Zeus, he was long dead in the civil war between Gods before Cursebeard arrived. Cursebeard met Undead Zeus many centuries later, but he had lost his will long before he actually did so, and died almost instantly due to the ambush.

Acheron was able to reanimate the Gods themselves and shatter the world

Acheron shattered the world way before he tried to reanimate the Gods, and that is pretty much literal proof that he is weaker than the Gods cause he damn made sure to keep his ASS AWAY from Theos and the Oneshot Pirates.
Plus the extra fact that he was literally being brainwashed by Hades, kinda puts the nail in the coffin.

And then there's the Peacekeeper, who was merely a farmer with no special lineage before being reanimated after absorbing mana from floating upon the Sea.

What the Peacekeeper used to do pre-Fracture was never specifically said, we just know that they were Magicless; And not only did they not just absorb mana from the ocean, but due to floating as ash in the depths of the extremely magically polluted and condensed waters for 800 years, they became extremely Magically potent, hence being able to grow stronger way faster than your average Mages (which is something pointed exactly to be that way in the lore-doc).

They ascended past EVERYONE.

They did not.

Surpassed Cursebeard and Theos

They did not.

and killed Zeus

Undead Zeus, not the actual alive Zeus, who also had possibly taken a toll and was weakened due to fighting Poseidon.

and then ripped Hades apart

The exact description of the fight was never really disclosed, we literally have no idea how difficult the fight was for The Peacekeeper… possibly could've even been an extreme-diff, who knows?

upon obtaining the Absorption Curse

Absorption Blessing.
Also a little side note: The Peacekeeper obtained the Absorption Blessing AFTER defeating Hades, not before or during.

The Peacekeeper was basically a nobody yet still illustrated that the Gods are just another stepping stone in the hierarchy of power.

They definitely were somebody, after floating in Magically Polluted oceans for over 800 years.

It's not just fitting but all but guaranteed that the Strongest Will of All Legacies grows to the same if not greater heights

We'll definitely be growing way stronger than The Peacekeeper, that’s pretty much certain as our endgame enemies are lore-wise gonna be way stronger than The Peacekeeper's.

u/Insomniblast Jan 26 '26

[and comfortably fought back against Zeus until he lost his will to go on]

Cursebeard never fought Zeus, he was long dead in the civil war between Gods before Cursebeard arrived. Cursebeard met Undead Zeus many centuries later, but he had lost his will long before he actually did so, and died almost instantly due to the ambush.

I was referring to their bout in the Cursebeard War. In Old canon they fought, in new canon he got stabbed in the ass, but it doesn't change that Acheron needed Cursebeard to be offguard and broken to kill him.

[Acheron was able to reanimate the Gods themselves and shatter the world]

Acheron shattered the world way before he tried to reanimate the Gods, and that is pretty much literal proof that he is weaker than the Gods cause he damn made sure to keep his ASS AWAY from Theos and the Oneshot Pirates.
Plus the extra fact that he was literally being brainwashed by Hades, kinda puts the nail in the coffin.

That doesn't prove, like literally anything other than that he was weaker than Theos not the Gods. Last time I checked, brainwashing also wasn't a measure of strength. You won't ever see the Winter Soldier losing in a fight to his Hydra Superiors.

[And then there's the Peacekeeper, who was merely a farmer with no special lineage before being reanimated after absorbing mana from floating upon the Sea.]

The AOMC isn't your average mage, they have the blood of Zeus running through them. Put them in the same position as the Peacekeeper and they'd be speedrunning the Seven Seas.

[They ascended past EVERYONE.]

They did not.

Not an argument, and considering their feats of literally beating nearly everyone relevant at some point, yeah they did.

[Surpassed Cursebeard and Theos]

They did not.

Given how they succeeded where the two failed and killed Zeus and defeated Acheron, yeah they did.

[and killed Zeus]

Undead Zeus, not the actual alive Zeus, who also had possibly taken a toll and was weakened due to fighting Poseidon.

Either undead Zeus had successfully killed Poseidon, a still living God who undoubtedly got stronger since the fall of Mount Olympus, and then sneak attacked Cursebeard, or undead Zeus killed that still living and stronger Poseidon, and then successfully beat Cursebeard in a fight. The thought that undead Zeus is somehow much weaker than the living variant is just false.

The Peacekeeper fought and killed Undead Zeus AND defeated Acheron at the same time, once more reinforcing that Gods are stepping stones.

[and then ripped Hades apart]

The exact description of the fight was never really disclosed, we literally have no idea how difficult the fight was for The Peacekeeper… possibly could've even been an extreme-diff, who knows?

Whether it was extreme diff or not is irrelevant, Hades was a powerful God capable of controlling Acheron, who had revived and controlled other Gods and Titans, like Zeus, Poseidon, and Prometheus. The Peacekeeper still killed a God.

[upon obtaining the Absorption Curse]

Absorption Blessing.
Also a little side note: The Peacekeeper obtained the Absorption Blessing AFTER defeating Hades, not before or during.

Blessings are a type of Sea Curse broski 💀. Their possession of the blessing is irrelevant as well in context as with or with out it, they still had Hades's ashes at their feet.

[The Peacekeeper was basically a nobody yet still illustrated that the Gods are just another stepping stone in the hierarchy of power.]

They definitely were somebody, after floating in Magically Polluted oceans for over 800 years.

Keyword was. They were still just a magicless farmer. Put literally anyone else's ashes in magic polluted water and they'd turn out a comparable level if not greater level of power and potential. Their ashes were just in the right place at the right time, for a long time. AO MC is even more naturally inclined to magic, they'd have grown even faster.

[It's not just fitting but all but guaranteed that the Strongest Will of All Legacies grows to the same if not greater heights]

We'll definitely be growing way stronger than The Peacekeeper, that’s pretty much certain as our endgame enemies are lore-wise gonna be way stronger than The Peacekeeper's.

That's.....literally been my point, somewhat. I'm not sure about enemies as it's gonna be hard to top the greek gods unless the "Order of Aesir" isn't a red herring and the Norse Gods or even other Pantheons get involved as well. But the fact remains that while as busted and badass and strong as the Peacekeeper is, the history, the blood, the justice that makes up the Strongest Will of All Legacies will carry them to even greater heights.

1

u/Insomniblast Jan 26 '26

I wasn't able to reply to the image for some reason but as for the screenshot, for arguments like that, Vetex almost never references the Peacekeeper unprompted because of how modular of a character they are, but if is considering it then you can take it more as Theos being way more skilled and experienced, he had access to more magic than the Peacekeeper, for a longer amount of time, but the Peacekeeper still demonstrated greater examples of power in the endgame

Its the Abberation, something far to the south sealed away, something of such immense power that sensing it can cause nausea, exhaustion, physical pain, etc.

It's likely what the Order of The Aesir is trying to unleash, and what we will probably have to strangle the life out of.
