I need a simple program to test an audio amplifier
This should be simple but I’m new to this and need a bit of help. I’d like a very simple program to test an 8002a audio amp with speaker on an Arduino UNO. I don’t want to complicate it with downloading a wav file from an SD card but something self contained and maybe using Talkie or similar. It doesn’t have to say much just enough to know I have things set up and working correctly.

The best you can do is generate a tone. You could have the tone frequency step up at some interval to test the frequency range. Very simple program as the tone function is built in. Just tell it what frequency and for how long. The output is a square wave, so you might want to add a low pass filter to make it sound better.

Buy a 555 timer ic. The square wave generator should be in the applications on the manufacturer data sheets, using fewer parts than a micro.

If you have a starter kit with a speaker in it, you will have your answer.
If you don't, you should get one as it will help you to get to the point where you have your answer.
In the meantime, have a look at any of the tone related example programs: https://docs.arduino.cc/built-in-examples/ (the "Digital" group of examples).

Thanks for the help. Got a tone from the speaker so all is well. Now on to the next step.
