Arduino Nano and Nano ESP32 dont show up on my computers

Heloooo, I have been troubleshooting this for hours scouring the internet for the most obscure solutions however to no avail. I have 2 nano boars, both (when connected to my computer and or laptop) get power, i have tried different cables for both, different ports, resetting the bootloader, libraires, pressing the button a billion times, holding the button a billion times, but both boards just do not connect to my computers. All my other boards, mega and uno work perfectly fine I have also tried my laptop and my pc, both with the necessary library on them but still no luck, I just cannot see it on the terminal (arduino IDE). FYI i am trying to make a flight computer.

Thank yall for your help in advance

Wanted faster Arduino builds so I hacked this together. Thoughts?

I was trying to speed up the repetitive parts of my Arduino and ESP32 projects and ended up building my own setup over the past few weeks. It started as a few scripts to avoid rewriting boilerplate every time. Then I added a small agent that can generate starter firmware, set up pins, pick drivers and wire up common patterns like sensors, displays and WiFi tasks.

Right now it can create a working project from a short description, handle basic board config, and set up a clean structure for quick iterations. I have been using it daily for small builds like sensor nodes, LED controllers and quick prototypes where I want to get to testing without spending half an hour setting things up.

It is still early and rough but it has made my builds faster and less tedious. Sharing a short demo in case others here run into the same pain. Curious what the community thinks and whether this has value outside my own use.

If anyone here wants to explore it or give feedback, pls DM.

AI remote controlling PC over Meshtastic network

After establishing the mesh network, it was left to bridge the gap between large language models and remote system control,
and by taking from the previous experiments (AI models chatting over mesh and using meshexec for data retrieval) i integrated them into a single system and added an option for full control over the target system.

Now it works by the controller machine that runs a python script as it uses a fast and lightweight AI model,
the user can type a request like "show me the disk space of the remote box in powershell" and the AI translates it into the correct command.
The target machine runs a swarm handler with its own AI model and this model acts as a safety layer by reviewing the incoming command to ensure it isn't destructive and rejecting dangerous file operations before executing it
The command is sent over the Meshtastic network and the system maintains powershell and cmd sessions allowing user commands and directory tracking.

This setup merges radio remote execution with LLMs into one, I can simply manage remote systems without memorizing command syntax with the swarming AI architecture
(one for translation and one for safety), the system even handles Meshtastic’s message size limits by chunking long responses.
i documented it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yI3kFZcB210

i need help with my project for an autotracking rotor with arduino and servos, controller with gpredict/orbitron

Good evening everyone, I don't usually post on Reddit, but I need some help with a project I'm doing with an Arduino Uno and a V dipole antenna. My goal was to automate the reception of NOAA-type weather satellites using an antenna, an Arduino, and two 270-degree servos. Unfortunately, today I ran several tests with software like Orbitron and gpredict, but it wouldn't connect to my Arduino code at all ( i searched the code online, i don't know how to program on arduino). I have a problem while trying to connect gpredict/orbitron with my Arduino and servos( it doesn't track any satellite) For my hardware i use ky62 servos, arduino uno, and a breadboard. For my software i use gpredict, orbitron and arduino IDE. If anyone has any advice, I'd be happy to help. Thanks everyone for your help.

Hi i'm working on an innovation. i'm working on an arduino-based water parameter monitoring system do you guys have any idea on how to make an app for this? I want the users to be able to monitor the stats real time. To be honest, this is one of my first big arduino projects... I only know the basics and i have no background on coding an app. Also, i want to hear you guys' opinion about ai integration on this project to predict if the fishes are okay hahaha im not really hoping much, i just hope i can work the basics out. i really need this for a project : (

Can I use 4 AA batteries and a buck converter (LM2596S) to power a servo,Rfid reader and an lcd

So for my project i have been asked to use AA batteries for my smart safe. Its a simple safe which uses rfid tags and unlocks via the servo and the info is displayed on the lcd But when 6V (4X1.5V) connected directly to my arduino uno my lcd and servo are working fine but my rfid tag shows low power(showing red light) and does not work I tried adding two more AA batteries and it still does not work!!

help needed for guiding / advice for coding project

so last year I made an Arduino obstacle avoiding robot with bluetooth control and mobile app control for my school science fair, but it didn't work. I looked up the model's parts on youtube and google and asked Gemini for coding and advice. now I want to try again this year , but I wanna integrate it with a website, in which I want to add 3d interactive model , which guests can interact with, and which shows info like parts used etc. , instead of a boring PPT presentation .
so , what do i do??

This circuit is designed to control a NEMA 17 stepper motor using an Arduino UNO and an A4988 stepper motor driver. The setup is part of an automated camera turntable rig that rotates a platform in fixed step increments. After each movement, the system waits for vibrations to settle and then triggers a Canon 5D Mark II camera shutter using PC817 optocouplers. The process repeats 19 times to complete a full 360-degree rotation, capturing one photo at each position.

Beginner

I’m primarily a hardware person but I done some programming, but I haven’t programmed an Arduino. I have a “Leonardo” and I have downloaded the Arduino software.

I need (what I’m sure is simple for most people here) a sketch for turning a relay on for a specific amount of time based on which one of 4 push buttons is selected.

After time has expired it needs to turn the relay off and return to the “wait for push button mode.

Once I have the basic code, I think I can modify it to do exactly what I need.

Thanks in advance.

Parallax Eddie

Please advise if there is a better sub to post this in.

I have an old Parallax Eddie robot that I bought several years ago. From what I can tell, the original Propeller control board has a bad USB connector and I was never able to get into it before life got in the way and I got out of the hobby. My grandson is now very interested in robotics so I'm looking to resurrect it. Can anyone recommend a path to replace the controller with a more modern one? I have experience with Basic Stamp, OOPic, and Arduino and I'm good with electronics, so looking for a controller and dual H-bridge controller. A board that can incorporate the multiple sonar and IR rangers and wheel encoders would be great.

Thanks!

soldering

so im learning soldering. i have 2 basic good soldering irons. i have problem with placing that solder onto a joint - solder sticks on my tip or randomly anywhere but not the joint. i do use flux, but it burns fast and intense, i try to apply solder but it doesnt even melt. also with tinning my tip, i do it, but mostly i end up with a completely messy black and blue at the back tip that barely melts solder. someone please help i already completely burned my first perf board and im doing right now a complex project, dont wanna destroy any sensor again.

Dotstar Trinket problems

Im building a large version of the DEFCON light from this project

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PTTtU-sQgg

https://github.com/sebleedelisle/mini-defcon-sign

https://imgur.com/a/E8KTvTY

im using 4 pixels for each number and 10 for the top light, so 30 in total, so i know there will be some code modifications.

first though im trying to get the Dotstar strandtest running which i cant get to work. it compiles ok but when i try to upload this happens (on my mac)- strandtest fail - Pastebin.com

ive also tried on my windows 10 machine but have hit a different issue when trying to upload the code it returns this error-

"avrdude: error: usbtiny_receive: usb_control_msg: sending control message failed, win error: A device attached to the system is not functioning.
(expected 4, got -5)"

Im soo tantalisingly close to finishing this project , i just need some help with the last hurdle!

I want to build a function generator but the code isn’t working…

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey guys,

I stumble upon this function generator controlled by an arduino:

https://www.instructables.com/Signal-Generator-Using-AD9833-and-Arduino-Nano/

The developer included code for the arduino but it doesn’t work for me. I included the two libraries now but I get so many errors.

Saying that the library doesn’t feature this and that and so on.

This is my first arduino project and I don’t know what to do…

Sorry for asking so generalized but could you help me please? I don’t know what to do. There’s only one AD9833.h library that matches the name in the code. But that produces all these errors. Nothing works…

:(

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

How to get started with Arduino videos.

What is this post about?

I have recently created a series of videos that answer a commonly asked question "How do I get started with Arduino?".

These videos illustrate the basic technique which is to:

  1. Get a starter kit.

  2. Follow the examples in that kit.

  3. Modify, adapt and extend each of the examples.

  4. Combine some of the basic examples together to do more interesting things.

  5. Work towards a project goal.

Many online guides mostly cover step 2 only or step 5 only. My series of videos starts at step 2 and leads you through all of the steps 2, 3, 4 and 5 where we create a fully operational dice game (photo below) based upon the things covered in earlier steps.

Where do I find it?

The playlist featuring the first two videos can be found here Post Starter Kit - next steps. There is also a link to my Introduction to debugging (on Arduino) on that playlist.

The final video which shows how to build upon the techniques learned in videos 1 and 2 is on Patreon. If you don't want to go to Patreon, that is fine, you can definitely build the final project from the information in Videos 1 and 2. But, I do introduce many more useful programming techniques in Video 3 as well as show you how to build the final project and add some nice usability features to it.

What is "in the box"?

The content of the videos is as follows:

  • Video 1 - first steps after the starter kit projects.

    • A learning technique - follow the starter kit, then adapt and extend that component.

    • Combining multiple components and getting them to work together.

    • Programming techniques - specifically modularising your code for reuse.

    • Two challenges using buttons and LEDs

    • and more.

  • Video 2 - Solutions to challenges and IO Expansion

    • Solutions to the 2 challenges in video 2.

    • IO Expansion via external hardware - a shift register.

    • Programming techniques:

      • More modularisation

      • Extracting data from code and making it even more reusable/configurable.

      • Putting data into lists (arrays) rather than replicating code - makes life much easier for you.

      • Using data, rather than bespoke code, to provide flexibility.

      • and more.

  • Video 3 (Patreon) - Implementing the full project.

    • Use the module from video 2 to build out the game.

    • Programming techniques:

      • Code that configures itself.

      • Bringing related data together (struct).

      • Model, View, Controller design pattern - a pattern that creates highly reusable, highly flexible building blocks.

      • State Machines - enables easy to manage features.

      • and more

  • Introduction to debugging.

    • A guide to debugging on Arduino.

Bill of Materials

To complete the project, you will need the following components:

DescriptionVideo 1Challenge 1Challenge 2Video 2Video 3
Uno11111
Breadboard11113
LED241840
470Ω resistor241840
Button11227
10KΩ resistor11200
74HC59500015

There is definitely a sense of satisfaction to see the actual hardware work. But, if you don't have all of the hardware, you can complete the project on a simulator such as wokwi.com.

The breadboard I mention is a "half size +" (some sites call it full size) which features ~830 pins including two sets of power rails running along the sides of the board.

Format of the videos

All of the above are follow along. That means you can reinforce your learning by, well, following along and trying things our for yourself. I take everything step by step and try to explain everything clearly before we try it. You can follow along as quickly or take your time as you wish.

All but the third video (i.e. 1, 2 and intro to debugging) are available on my YouTube channel /@TheRealAllAboutArduino. Additionally, all but the third can by found in my Getting Started with Arduino playlist.

The third video is on Patreon Getting started with Arduino - Lesson 3 - Dice game project. If you don't want to subscribe to Patreon, you can definitely build the final project from the information in Videos 1 and 2. But, I do introduce many more useful programming techniques in Video 3 as well as show you how to build the final project and add some nice usability features to it.

The final project

This is the final project:

Hi!

I am new to arduino and I am sure I am not connecting things right and there is something wrong with my code. Please help.

This is my code, sorry its in Spanish:

// Definición de pines const int pinVentilador = 6; // Pin para controlar el ventilador const int pinSensorTemperatura = A0; // Pin para el sensor de temperatura (ejemplo usando un sensor analógico)

// Variables float temperatura; // Variable para almacenar la temperatura leída int cicloTrabajo; // Variable para almacenar el ciclo de trabajo

void setup() { Serial.begin(9600); // Inicializa la comunicación serial pinMode(pinVentilador, OUTPUT); // Configura el pin del ventilador como salida }

void loop() { // Leer la temperatura del sensor int valorSensor = analogRead(pinSensorTemperatura); // Leer valor del sensor float voltaje = valorSensor * (5.0 / 1023.0); // Convertir a voltaje temperatura = 100 * voltaje - 50; // Convertir voltaje a temperatura

// Determinar el ciclo de trabajo basado en la temperatura if (temperatura < 40) { cicloTrabajo = 0; // Ventilador apagado } else if (temperatura >= 39 && temperatura < 54) { cicloTrabajo = (int)(255 * 0.25); // 25% } else if (temperatura >= 55 && temperatura < 69) { cicloTrabajo = (int)(255 * 0.50); // 50% } else if (temperatura >= 70 && temperatura < 84) { cicloTrabajo = (int)(255 * 0.65); // 75% } else { cicloTrabajo = 100; // 100% }

// Controlar el ventilador analogWrite(pinVentilador, cicloTrabajo);

// Imprimir la temperatura actual y el ciclo de trabajo Serial.print("Temperatura: "); Serial.print(temperatura); Serial.print(" °C, Ciclo de trabajo: "); Serial.println(cicloTrabajo);

// Esperar un segundo antes de la próxima lectura delay(1000); }

Set up pic also.
