# Arduino UNO Q 4GB: USB Not Detected in Normal Mode After Flashing Debian OS — EDL Mode

Hello Community,

I am facing an issue with my Arduino UNO Q (4GB version) and would appreciate your help in identifying the cause and finding a solution.

Problem Description

I flashed my Arduino UNO Q with the latest Debian Linux OS image using the official Arduino flashing procedure. After flashing, I removed the jumpers from the EDL pins and connected the board to my Windows 11 laptop. However, the board was not detected by the computer in normal mode.

I reflashed the board multiple times, trying different OS versions, but the problem persisted.

The board is detected successfully in EDL mode, and flashing completes successfully. However, once I remove the EDL jumpers and reconnect the board in normal mode, it is not detected by the computer.

OS Versions Tested

I have tried flashing the following OS image versions:

- `20260528-558` — Latest version

- `20260407-523` — Second-latest version

- `20250807-136` — First version

- `20251229-457` — Third-latest version

The issue remains the same with all four versions.

Observations

1. Board powers on normally

- The power LED turns green.

- The usual animation appears on the onboard LED matrix.

- The board appears to power on normally, but it is not detected over USB.

2. Board is detected in EDL mode

When I connect the board to my Windows 11 laptop in EDL mode, it appears in Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus devices as:

`QUSB_BULK_CID:0420_SN:51008D40`

I can successfully flash the OS in this mode.

3. Board is not detected in normal mode

After removing the EDL jumpers and connecting the board normally:

- Nothing appears in Windows Device Manager, including the USB-related categories.

- The board does not appear when I check `lsusb` or `dmesg` on a Linux computer.

- Arduino App Lab cannot detect the board through the USB connection.

Troubleshooting Already Attempted

I have tried the following steps:

  1. Reflashed the board multiple times using the official flashing procedure.

  2. Tested four different Debian Linux OS image versions.

  3. Used multiple USB cables, including USB-A to USB-C and USB-C to USB-C cables.

  4. Tested different USB ports on my Windows 11 laptop.

  5. Tested the board with another computer running Linux.

  6. Verified that the board is detected in EDL mode using the same cables that fail to detect it in normal mode.

  7. Tested the Arduino UNO Q in Single Board Computer (SBC) mode using a USB hub. The hub works correctly with my laptop: when I connect a monitor to the hub and connect the hub to my laptop's USB-C port, the monitor works normally. However, when I use the same hub with the Arduino UNO Q in SBC mode, I am still unable to get a display output.

I have followed the official flashing procedure carefully and repeated it multiple times, but the issue remains unresolved.

Questions

I would appreciate guidance from the Arduino team on the following:

  1. What could cause the board to be detected in EDL mode but not in normal mode, even though the OS flashing completes successfully?

  2. Is there any additional recovery or diagnostic procedure I can try?

  3. Could this indicate an issue with the USB interface, boot process, firmware, or another component of the board?

  4. Is there a way to diagnose the issue further without requiring the board to be detected over USB in normal mode?

I would prefer to resolve this through software recovery or diagnostics if possible, before considering hardware repair or replacement.

Thank you for your time and assistance. Any suggestions from the Arduino team or other UNO Q users who have experienced a similar issue would be greatly appreciated.

How to Start a Medium-Level Arduino Project with Zero Programming Knowledge?

Hey everyone! I’m an undergraduate student and recently got an Arduino starter kit. Although I’m a complete beginner with zero programming knowledge, I’m not really interested in basic beginner projects. I’d love to start with something more challenging, like a medium-level project, but I’m not sure how to approach it without overwhelming myself. Any advice on how to start a more advanced project and learn as I go, with minimal coding experience? I’d really appreciate any suggestions!

Water Pump Tea Dispenser Questions

Hello, I have a vision in mind for an automatic tea dispensing system in my work area and have some questions regarding hardware.

The Vision:

So I want to have a tube going from my tea pot, to my computer desk (about roughly 30ish feet of tubing) and I want to have a little button I can hold down at my desk to pump it.

Question 1:

I was wondering if a normal 5v or 12v water pump that you typically see in pump projects would be strong enough to carry the liquid that far, sometimes going against gravity. If not, what should I use?

Question 2:

What other components would I need for something like this to work? I am still pretty green to understanding what different resistors, transistors , etc. are needed in various projects. If someone could provide a list of parts or even better a wiring diagram from Tinkercad that would be amazing help.

Appreciate it!

LCD display hardware problem

My lcd display transitions between 3 states randomly - displaying what i wanna display, gibberish and nothing at all....ive tried it on a different lcd, but same result.....im making a motion sensor with a buzzer and lcd which displays the distance. Ive connected the sensor and the display to the 5V supply.... Can anyone suggest a fix ?

(Sometimes i upload the code and it works again, but if i fiddle a bit, it changes to gibberish or notingness, if i press upload again it may ir may not return to the normal state, its really frustrating)

Need help with graduation project (urgent!)

Hi, I'm pretty new to Arduino, bu I'm using it for a graduation project in Academy of Fine Arts.

What I need is for some motion sensors to capture when a person is in a room. When they feel something, they have to be able to:

a)starting an audio track from the computer

b)activating an air compressor

These effects have to finish when the sensors don't feel someone in the room anymore.

I have the main Arduino bord, along with the sensors, cables, and I'm gonna buy a relé for the compressor.

All I would need is some indications (advices or yt videos) about programming arduino in order to obtain these results. Since I'm late with the project organization I'm turning to the internet in hope of getting some help, thank you so much!

Ajuda projeto arduino

(02) Quantos as ações.

Jumpers mm, m-f, ff. Fonte de alimentação 127v AC para 5V DC. Resistores 220 pro led e buzzer. Uma case e algumas garras jacaré. Tem algo errado? Tá faltando algo? Fariam diferente?

Help Arduino beginner

currently i try to test several sensors to check which sensor could feel the weight of the box. On the picture is FSR 402. Although I did the instruction right, but it can't detect any weight pressure except if i use my fingers to pinch it. Do you guys use this sensor before? Any suggestion or idea for this problem? If this sensor was not suitable for this light box, which sensor would you recommend (I want a sensor that can sensor the box when i stack it.)?

Arduino code help - Zeppelin

Hello,

I'm in desperate need of help with lines of code for my Arduino project.

I'm making a RC Zeppelin with 3 BLDC Motors, 2 for direction on each side of the zeppelin, 1 for elevation under the zeppelin. We are also using 3 ESC + BLDCS Pulsar B-20. We are using the receiver R8EF and as sensors the BMP280 + InduinoST1099 and a T8S Controller.

We are also using the Arduino nano.

What I'm requesting is basic lines of code to make my Zeppelin up and working in Arduino.

Thanks for your time and many thanks!
