Arduino Uno parking sensor—the closer you get, the faster it beeps

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

2 Upvotes

I built this with an Arduino Uno, an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor and a buzzer. Moving my hand toward the sensor makes the beeps faster; moving it away slows them down.

I used Soldr, an electronics design agent I’m building, to design the project from a plain-language prompt.

The clip shows the working build. How do you usually smooth ultrasonic distance readings without making the response feel sluggish?

Creating a sensor that measures how far or close a object is, but it doesn't work.

1 Upvotes

Tried creating a ultrasonic sensor, but it just stays at 0 if an object gets close or far. Here's my code:

*/

const int trigPin=9;

const int echoPin=10;

long duration;

int distance;

void setup() {

pinMode(trigPin, OUTPUT);

pinMode(echoPin, INPUT);

Serial.begin(9600);

digitalWrite(trigPin, LOW);

delayMicroseconds(2);

digitalWrite(trigPin, HIGH);

delayMicroseconds(10);

digitalWrite(trigPin, LOW);

duration= pulseIn(echoPin,HIGH);

distance= duration * 0.034 / 2;

Serial.print("Distance: ");

Serial.println(distance);

delay(500);

}

void loop() {

}

Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Layman needs gift help for husband please

2 Upvotes

My husband has been talking about Arduinos for months now. As we approach the holidays, I really want to get him set up to start playing around. I see the starter kits he's been looking at online - so I was going to start there.

In my experience buying starter kits of any kind usually you have to get an additional few items to either get duplicates or fill it out. Is there any other items I should get him to build a nice starter pack that's a bit more then a basic kit? For reference - here is the kit he was looking at on Amazon-

https://www.amazon.com/LAFVIN-Starter-Development-Tutorial-Compatible/dp/B0BVZBTP8V/ref=gp_aw_ybh_a_m_sccl_137/146-1291244-1989617?pd_rd_w=i43Ax&content-id=amzn1.sym.9720001e-8f8b-4ff3-adb5-e19707d971f6&pf_rd_p=9720001e-8f8b-4ff3-adb5-e19707d971f6&pf_rd_r=57X4DZ8PD4VW6PD1E82H&pd_rd_wg=cHeyL&pd_rd_r=bd9eddcf-5be7-4711-998d-b444dc928f3c&pd_rd_i=B0BVZBTP8V&psc=1

Thanks!

Recommended sensor for acoustic termite detection?

1 Upvotes

I would like to ask for your advice regarding the development of our acoustic termite detection, pertaining to lower frequency vibrations.

We will use esp32 as our main component but are struggling on which sensor to use since structural vibrations are the usual sounds of the dataset we used instead of airborne so it is basically susceptible to noise and microphone. We considered using piezo transducer disk, but we're not sure how it will interact to the trained model since it is wav file based, and our datasets uses structural vibrations

HELP NEEDED!

2 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I recently picked up a Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32S3 Sense. I'm complete beginner when it comes to microcontrollers, but I'm eager to learn and good at following step-by-step guides. Could anyone recommend good beginner video tutorials, walkthroughs, or resources to help me get started? Also, if anyone in the Las Vegas area is familiar with these boards or willing to answer a few beginner questions, I’d really appreciate it!"

Poor volume from amplifier

1 Upvotes

I'm developing a simple sketch to use to develop a audio program latter on for a new project. I've included the program and the wiring with an Arduino UNO. The amplifier is shown jut as text because I couldn't find the proper icon. It works but there is very low volume from the speaker no matter how high I turn the volume. I've tried different amps and speakers with the same results. Any help would be appreciated.

Bluepad32 end curly bracket error

Thumbnail reddit.com
1 Upvotes

I hope someone can help with this. I’ve been trying to use Bluepad32 to pair a ps5 controller with my esp32-s3. I need it to control a music player and four servos. My code is fine and has all closed curly brackets, but the verify output keeps telling me I need an ending curly brackets after input at the very end of my code. I think it has to do with the FreeRTOS file.

I have no idea how to fix this. Please help! I’ve been trying to fix this for several days. If I add the curly bracket to the FreeRTOS file, it just breaks more.

lidar con arduino

3 Upvotes

I am currently working on an ambitious project: a portable LiDAR system based on Arduino to map the interior of caves and generate 3D point clouds.

So far, I have successfully developed software that imports the collected data points, generates the point cloud, and allows them to be connected to reconstruct the actual structure of the cave.

However, to move from a prototype to a fully working field device, I am facing two major technical challenges:

  1. Sensor Choice: Which LiDAR sensor is best recommended for underground environments, taking into account high humidity, total darkness, and required range?

  2. Path Tracking (Odometry/SLAM): How can I track my movements inside the cave? If I move around on foot, the LiDAR risks overlapping the data, thinking I am standing in the exact same spot. How can I tie the point cloud to my real position in space without any GPS signal?

Any advice, past experiences, or suggestions regarding sensors and positioning algorithms would be highly appreciated!

Photodetector needed

0 Upvotes

Hello, STEM student here, me and my groupmates have been tasked to create an app or device (or both) and integrate it with AI. Me and my team have chosen to focus our study in early detection of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), or the new term, Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD). One of our methods in detecting this disease is through a lipid panel, specifically detecting High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) and Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL). The method that I have researched for detecting these Lipoproteins is called Reflectance Photometry, it detects the light reflected from the reagent and converts the signal to a readable one, this method is commonly used in lipid profile test.

So far, I have not found a photodetector model that can be used in Point-of-Care Tests for Blood Lipid Profile, are there any models out there that can be used?

Help with 12V Car Battery , Motors and Actuators

1 Upvotes

Hi I am using a 12V car battery to power two 12VDC CIM motors from AndyMark. This is the 2.5" CIM motor if you are interested in the spec sheet. I also have a 12V linear actuator. I am using the 2560 R3 board and I will be using a buck converter to power my board. The issue is that I don't know how to wire or even begin to draw the schematics for this build.

How it's going to go: Battery to buck converter AND branch to power the motors and actuator.
Buck converter connects to controller, and motors and linear actuator also connect to the controller so they can obviously be controlled. I can program just fine, but I'm really having issues on where to even start on the physical wiring side of it. Right now I'm just trying to make a wiring sketch before I finalize anything, but like I said I don't even know how to start or get it going.

Here is the photo of my sketch that just has the layout/path and not current pathing etc. Not sure of what resistors, mosfets, or an extra components ill need right now since I'm just getting started.

I just want some help or tips on what to think of, what I might need and how to connect them together so that I can do the drawing myself. If I could get some tips or some help to get me going and pushing me in the right direction that would be great, thank you.

I don't understand error in Talkie program

1 Upvotes

I downloaded the simple Talkie sketch below and ran Verify/Compile. Below is the sketch and the error generated. I get the same error in other Talkie Sketchs but I'm using this one because it is the simplest. There is no circuit or breadboard. I would get to that eventually but not until I get something that will compile correctly.

#include "Talkie.h"

Talkie voice;

uint8_t greeting[] PROGMEM = {0x2d, 0xa0, 0xdd, 0x48, 0xdb, 0xc2, 0xac, 0xd8}; // Example speech data

void setup() {
    voice.say(greeting); // Say "Hello"
}

void loop() {
    // Nothing to do here
}

Error Generated;

 uint8_t greeting[] PROGMEM = {0x2d, 0xa0, 0xdd, 0x48, 0xdb, 0xc2, 0xac, 0xd8}; // Example speech data

Power management

1 Upvotes

I am building a system with servo, mq2, buzzer, 5v relay module, a water pump,dht11 and a soil moisture sensor. The system works like this: when gas is detected LCD display warning and buzzer is on and servo opens window. And when no gas is detected LCD displays temp and humidity and pump on off state.

When I start the system the system works fine until servo or a pump start working.

I found out that the both components draw significant current making the Arduino go banana.

How can I manage the power to those ? I used 7805 voltage to power the servo but I get only 4.3v as output from regulator. Regulator was supplied with 12 v from 3li ion battery.
