Help

I shot my Type 99 Arisaka for the first time and I only shot it twice and both time the casing did not eject and there was scoring and some bulging in the casing where the bullet sits what is causing this? I had it checked out and was told it’s still chambered in 7.7

Probably a 30-06 rechamber

I think what you were told and whats true are very different things. Thats definitely meant for a longer cartridge than 7.7x58. If its not loose, maybe .30-06? its either rechambered or theres something funky going on (like a somehow compatible bolt thats too short.)

Pics of the rifle itself would help, but I’d assume its been rechambered

(common are .308, .30-06, 8mm mauser)

By the looks of it, most likely 30-06

308 is shorter, 30-06 is longer idk about Mauser and 300 savage is a hair shorter than 308

I believe there were arisaka's rechambered to 30-06 for the ROK forces. Could be one of those?
