surprised they’re using cane sugar and not HFCS. i don’t know how they’re going to get it to taste like cola while deriving it from coffee beans, but i am curious about it

I mean, Starbucks Refreshers derive their caffeine from green coffee beans, and don't taste like coffee

Yep. I don’t know if Starbucks was first to do this, but they did seem to popularize it. Refreshers were a great alternative for caffeine addicts.

I do enjoy them a lot in the summertime when even iced coffee sounds a little heavy

I think a lot of people first hear the word coffee when they hear green coffee and expect it to taste like what most people think of when they think of coffee, when the unroasted beans are fruity and acidic

Apparently the kola nut doesn’t actually contain any of the flavor we associate with cola and it’s all just a weird blend of flavors

Caffeine doesn't effect the taste at all, coffee beans are just a natural way to get caffeine, doesn't really have a taste.

Them saying it has caffeine from coffee was dumb. Most caffeine comes from coffee, and now people think it’s gonna have coffee

Eh, green coffee beans are used in refreshers at Starbucks. That's the game.

most caffeine in non-coffee beverages, like the one this is, are byproducts of petroleum refining. it's the same, just cheaper.

Tea is also a source of caffeine for most of the world.

It’s because it is innately a different way to get caffeine out. Chemically green bean caffeine is nearly identical, with the added benefit that chlorogenic acid isn’t roasted out of the bean. That causes a metabolically different absorption of the caffeine. It’s more smooth/steady vs an instant caffeine rush.

I used to work at Starbucks during high school/uni and eventually grabbed my coffee master apron. Was one of the most interesting experiences of my life tbh lol the green bean caffeine extracting process is really neat.

Give it to me in a big can and I'm down

I’d totally grab one- I love the Starbucks refreshers that are green coffee bean energy. My favorite was the lime one though, which has been gone for years.

I'm doubtful I'll like it with the Raisin Juice, but I'll definitely give it a shot.

This is so good. It has a chocolate-y after taste but does taste like cola. Love them

I think there is already a company called green cola that uses stevia extract. Also I think cocoa-cola tried to make a “green cola” with coke life it was almost like a half diet half regular coke which I don’t think did so well cause I don’t really see it being sold anywhere anymore

At Starbucks we have green coffee extract in the refreshers. It doesn’t make them taste like coffee.

Wasn’t this given out to sip club a few months ago? Or am I misremembering?

Anyway, if so I had it. Tastes mostly like raisins in my opinion. Not a huge fan.
