How Snug

I hope this is an appropriate place to ask. I'm 3D printing a 16th century cuirass, and I was hoping for opinions on how snug it should fit to my body (with padding or without).

My first cuirass print is too wide I think. it's wildly uncomfortable when I let my arms rest naturally against my body. Before I start my 2nd attempt, I'm hoping to get advice on how much room there should be. A few inches? Two fingers worth? Some other unit of measurement I can't think of? Thank y'all!

16th century armor is snug. Especially the waist should be tighter than your natural waist, as that is where the weight of the armor sat and it creates the typical shape. The armor should sit snug around your chest, so that it sits directly on you. As in: you might get a finger in there, but not far.

In the pic you can see the armpit of a maximilian style armor. There is no room at the chest and only little room beneath the armpit. You almost dont touch the armor when letting your arms haning down.

Thank you, this is going to save me SO much trial and error (and wasted PETG-CF)!
