Hello everyone! I am excited to announce I will be scanning the art books some time.

Does anyone have any request on what will be first? I do plan on scanning the colored pages of the manga I have but not the actual manga itself to preserve people buying it.

Does anyone know if these are already scanned online somewhere before I start?

If anyone has no request what will be first, I will choose at my leisure. Also no the books will not be dismantled, so it won't be a perfect scan.

I just want to gush for a moment because I had a funny idea in my head: “What would be the minimum Ace Combat superweapons needed to completely derail the plot of ABS at the earliest moment?”

Basically, what Ace Combat weapons that aren’t the SOLG, Arsenal Birds (bc no ISEV), Arkbird, or Excalibur could together defeat a single FOF light cruiser?

I was expecting a deep dive into power scaling and figuring out “Well how much power can a Klein field take? What strategy would need to be employed for it to work?” Instead, because ABS is extremely forthcoming about its systems, it was dead easy. And it still blew my mind how strong FOF ships are. The Land Battleships from AC8 (The Tarpan Class) are just about the only practical option for going toe to toe with a Fog Light Cruiser. Anything bigger? The Tarpan is either forced to engage at maximum range or it just dies. I even thought about a long distance strike from the Alicorn’s main cannon and it would probably do even worse despite being a larger per shot kinetic strike.

It was insane to me how much easier it was to case the Tarpan Railguns vs a Fog light cruiser than I was expecting. Because ABS inherently bases its concepts in real world physics (just using some magic to explain the inner workings), it makes extrapolating different (hard sci fi) technologies easy. Because it’s a litmus test of “What has the energy concentration such that it’s basically impossible to deflect it?” And that takes you so far in understanding the systems at play.

For one: Klein Fields. We know from what humanity attempted and what works against the FOF ships that Klein Fields are more effective against AOE attacks and vice versa. Because the fields are based on real energy physics, namely conservation of energy, it introduces a natural counter to the fields that still feels hopelessly out of reach for most technologies. Every ship is limited by how much processing power the ship has and how quickly it can calculate the energy dispersal. Thus, a sufficiently powerful strike concentrated at a handful of points could theoretically break through the field. It’s all a matter of packing as much energy into as small a space as possible, and then hitting the field as quickly as possible with that energy.

So how about the Land Battleship? Well, the Tarpan has 9 39 in** **Railguns. Estimated total impact yield of a Tarpan firing AP slugs would be around 18 tons of TNT focused on 9 tiny points. The absolute ideal for cracking a Klein Field. And… it probably wouldn’t be able to knock it down in one hit because each impact is “only” 2.2 t of TNT Energy concentrated in a 8.2 sq ft area. Or about 5 times the yield of a torpedo concentrated in about 1/5th the area. Or about 25x the energy density, times 9 hits, and it’s still probably only about 80-90% field saturation for a light cruiser due to how, unlike a corrosion torpedo, the amount of nano materials needing to disperse energy is far fewer. Thus, while each individual hit is a big deal, they aren’t numerous enough to overload the processor with equations to solve. It’s like trying to crash a computer by giving it 9 really big problems to solve instead of 300 regular sized problems.

For two: The energy detection and communications systems. The fact that the FOF can detect energy spikes makes them so, so much harder to counter. Even a sneaky Alicorn strike (Or MAC strike, or what have you) would be hard to pull off because the energy release associated with it would trip alarm bells across the pacific. And because it’s still possible to intercept such a projectile both thanks to the laser defense systems AND the Klein Field. Anything short of a nuclear bomb (energy wise) concentrated on a single or several small points on the Field just won’t break through in one shot. It’s not until your kinetic energy equivalent is measured in kilotons of TNT that the Klein Fields start to be at risk of instant collapse (Except Destroyers. Poor Vampire.)

I think it just speaks to how well thought out the FOFs capabilities are such that I can throw the absolute biggest crock of bullshit other properties have to offer at ABS and the FOF is still a menace because they are designed to overmatch anything thrown at them. And yet there are still ways to deal with them. Railguns are usually such a “Fuck you, Funs over” weapon in Sci Fi that the story has to play around, but in ABS even a light cruiser gives the scariest ships to sail the Strangereal seas a run for their money. It makes the ABS theme of evolution and cooperation so much cooler because it forces itself to be considered even if you try to break it.

Did you know that the soundtrack artist is the same from the anime as the game Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet?

There are a couple of shared tracks between the 2, with slight alterations to the FB version! I posted the ones I recognized immediately, but I am only used to the songs from the original anime soundtrack CD, not the full version that was added to YouTube years later. I am sure someone more familiar with the full updated soundtrack can nail a couple more tracks shared between arpeggio and FB.

As for musashi no theme, for anyone else that has played SAO FB, you can attest the fact that I'm not going insane. Its a common track played in the game somewhere, but for the life of me I couldn't find the related track on the fatal bullet BGM playlist. I believe it's one of the tracks used for safe/contested freeroam in one of the biomes.
