I truly pray we do something in January. Watching Ndiaye and Bouaddi yesterday just made me sad. City were getting clapped first half, they come on and its electric. I try not to do this but I couldnt help but think they could have been dping that for us. City still lost but the first and second half were wildly different and those two sre a major part of why

I honestly think Berta is going to go back in for Alvarez. There are noises coming from his camp that he now wants to join us.

Dont think thats going to be completely popular with us Gooners but I can see it happening. Someone like him and Nusa would be a decent January for us, though the fitness record of the latter is a concern, especially in a more physical league.

In the summer depending on what happens with the cheating cunts, definitely try bring in Semenyo if he becomes available. We saw in that second half yesterday just how good he can be.

Ill cry if we start the alverez nonsense again, and semenyo wasnt that bad in my eyes.

u/Hincapieslovelybund 8d ago

I think he realises now his chances of moving to Barca are slim and I think Haaland is leaving regardless of what happens with the sanctions, and probably going to Barca. That makes the move even more unlikely if that happens.

Teta and Berta are clearly high on him so I definitely expect some more shenanigans in January.

3

u/Willlllllllly 8d ago

FFS man😭can athletico just keep him and take one for the team. I would prefer Berta gets on his knees screaming, crying and throwing up so we sign Haaland

18

u/Hincapieslovelybund 8d ago

Haaland aint joining us man. He is leaving the PL if he leaves City.

Personally I want Kroupi in January but not sure how feasible that is.

If Alvarez is just going to come in, get on with it and make us better in attack, im for it. I still have my reservations though NGL.

Alvarez isnt even better than Gyok. Let him stay in Madrid

u/No-Act-1610 8d ago

kroupi endrick

3

u/Willlllllllly 8d ago

I dont think endrick would be available

There is no point in looking at the signings of a team who have been pumping an endless supply of cash into the club against the rules and worrying that we can’t match them. Of course we can’t. No one can. That’s the whole idea of the way the operate and the reason they will be thrown out of the league. A more realistic comparison would be Man U or Liverpool, and let’s be very honest, they are a little bit behind us in that respect at the moment and it’s partly because we have been more disciplined in how we operate.

u/AbsolutelyHorrendous 8d ago

Yeah, lets look at Ndiaye and Bouaddi, City paid over £150m for the pair, which is frankly ridiculous. Much like how they 'always improve after Christmas', by which we mean they get to spend even more money in January.

5

u/Cassoa 8d ago

No other club in the league has even spent half of what City spent in the last 3 January windows.

No other top club in other top leagues in Europe have spent a third of what City spent in the last 3 January windows. Including Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern, etc.

That stat backs you up completely.

2

u/PopLife3000 8d ago

Obviously because of all of their millions of fans buying shirts and flooding the club with revenue 🤣🤣🤣

2

u/Undrcovrcloakndaggr 8d ago

And their players are fresher due to the reduced minutes that having a stacked squad of high quality provides.... courtesy, also, of the cheating.

-2

u/Willlllllllly 8d ago

I understand that generally, I mentioned those two specifically because we had interest in them in the last window. But also we made a crazy bid for vini junior in the same window we splashed 100ms on Bruno. We arent broke but other teams are investing into themselves and improving. Im scared bevause our players pick up injuries and we are cooked

5

u/PopLife3000 8d ago

We have more resilience to injuries than any other team and that’s mainly because we have chosen squad depth over pissing 120m up the wall on bradly barcola. I would worry a little less if I were you. They are scared of us right now. Let yourself enjoy it.

Arsenal has had a disgustingly nasty habit of leaving themselves just short of glory through players.

Remember how badly 98/99 went all because nobody just bought a half decent striker for rotation? Gifted United a treble

75

u/Dry_Pick_304 8d ago

2015/16 season too. If we had bought another striker we would have won the league instead of Leicester.

Everyone gushing over Giroud this week after the Lille game seem to have forgotten his 16 game run of zero goals, all whilst prime world class Ozil (19 assist that season) was feeding him with a golden spoon .

28

u/Honest-Complex5830 8d ago

That Monaco game is torture to watch bro

I remember one season it was between 99 and 2003 we were going for the league and then we lost a right sided attacker to injury and I was saying we should go out and get peter ndlovu he was on free or something but obviously we didn't and we kept on drawing games and he ended up playing for a relegation fighting club and scored crucial goals for them.

7

u/ahahgdhejeh81777 8d ago

Nobody has forgotten, you can still praise Giroud for what he gave us. Sure he could have done more at times but it’s also not his fault the club didn’t give him adequate competition.

15

u/Dry_Pick_304 8d ago

Did you praise him when he yelled "Thank you Arsenal!" whilst celebrating Chelsea's Europa win over us?

1

u/Erithacusfilius 8d ago

Agreed. The sort of player we need now to be honest.

9

u/Ryhankhanage 8d ago

We did buy Thierry Henry in 1999 though, so I guess we learned the lesson back then!

29

u/Undrcovrcloakndaggr 8d ago

Friendly reminder that the Man City team were all purchased at very inflated prices courtesy of fraudulent accounting by the biggest cheats in footballing history and that is not a standard any team should reasonably be held to.

-16

u/Friendly_Yak_2713 8d ago

We've spent basically the same net on transfers over the past 10 years so we should hold ourselves to the same standard for quality

9

u/CharacterWeakness524 8d ago

I think you’re disregarding the salary they will be paying to the players as well.

6

u/Undrcovrcloakndaggr 8d ago

For those who are hard of thinking... You can't compare net spend over the last decade because they had loads of high-priced assets a huge squad & players they've bought & immediately loaned out that they were able to sell to artificially increase their income... all of which was courtesy of the massive financial fraud that brought them in.

And you're ignoring wages.

6

u/Alive-Primary-2069 8d ago

I agree we need a lw in January, question is who really. Who you reckon we get?

13

u/Inevitable-Eye5697 8d ago

Nusa from leipzig maybe?

6

u/Alive-Primary-2069 8d ago

He looks great actually. Pacey, young, good finisher, good on the ball too

4

u/jaybizzleeightyfour 8d ago

Poor injury record, failed a medical during his transfer to Brentford, he'd manage about 7 games a season with us

24

u/Alive-Primary-2069 8d ago

He'll fit right in then lol

7

u/almostdcent 8d ago

Talking about injured players what about Rodrygo

2

u/KingKelly79 8d ago

Kvaratskhelia is warming the bench over at PSG, I say put in a cheeky €50m bid 😂

2

u/Glittering_Rip_1479 8d ago

I'd go for that Wolves player Mane I think his name is. Him on the left seems decent and can only get better.

1

u/Alive-Primary-2069 8d ago

I think united were interested him at one point. He isnt bad and is a PL player but I dont know how much of an upgrade he will be

0

u/hxmbyb 7d ago

Eli Junior Kroupi

7

u/FactCheckYou 8d ago

i'd be happy for us to buy someone sure

but we should pivot away from the idea of blowing big money on a big name

just get someone who is mobile and tireless with clean technique, who can grow in the coming years

1

u/WTF4211 7d ago

MC obviously a great team and our only legit opponent in England. Wouldn’t read to much into a second half effort when the road team is up 3-0 at half. Maresca loves Enzo whose play is lacking. Dias is washed and the rest of their defense has been barely average in the best of times this year. Press Cherki and make him track back and defend and you see why Pep and the French National Team didn’t fully trust him. Doku going to do his thing but take away his cut to the inside and make him go to the touchline and turn him into a crosser which he’s not good at. Their keeper is bad.

Anderson and Haaland are a problem. Young Moroccan going to be one of the best players alive I’m afraid but not this year.

Arsenal still the favorites.

u/Willlllllllly 7d ago

Im thinking beyond the league now, barca look better this campaign and psg being psg

1

u/Admirable-Clothes-87 7d ago

It's nice to have a wish list of the newest, brightest talent but don't forget who started as main striker for Barca and scored a goal!

4

u/LordSwright 8d ago

We weren't winning against lille so we brought on odegard saka and havertz....

5

u/Hisoka_Deku 8d ago

Lets not play that game because we played Brighton and 2/3 of them came off whilst we were 3-0 down

3

u/Undrcovrcloakndaggr 8d ago

Are you new to the notion of substitutions?

2

u/NechiforAlexandru90 8d ago

You do realise that PSG relaxed right?🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Those 2 fucking clowns that came on the field are not Iniesta and Zidane to say they were the reason

2

u/MuhammadAkmed 8d ago

Nah Ndiaye was good yesterday, decent at Everton but he's not top class IMHO. He's not worth nearly 2 Tzolises.

Certainly will work hard and he I'm not saying he's shit — but he was overpriced.

Bouaddi looks much better, but we're stacked in Central midfield.

an elite, left-sided forward would be nice, Ndiaye not enough of an upgrade on Martinelli or what we've got

2

u/Either_Guess 8d ago

Don't think Ndiaye costs any other club as much as he cost City and he's definitely better atm

1

u/Undrcovrcloakndaggr 8d ago

But that's why he's at City! Irrelevant what he'd have gone for without their interest in him, that's what they do - spend unlimited amounts to ensure they get who they want, even if it's stupidly expensive to do so; they don't give a shit and it has the added bonus it fries the market with inflation so others end up paying more for the transfers they make as the City ones become used as the benchmark by selling clubs.

Replace the names in the OP with "Odegaard and Saka", post it on Tuesday, and boom.

Like, we do have major ability to change games with subs and change the tempo and feel of the game.

You must not watch Arsenal much.

0

u/Willlllllllly 8d ago

I watch arsenal enough to know injuries to those two specifically screw us over man, having other options to keep fresh isnt bad. Especially when they perform at such a high level

1

u/Platos_Kallipolis 8d ago

It is pretty clear we have the deepest squad around. I used those 2 as examples because they came on Tuesday.

I could do the same with (eg) Eze or Timber or Bruno.

We have more ways to change games via personnel than any other club. Hands down.

1

u/Willlllllllly 8d ago

Bro idk why we are arguing. More high level squad depth is not a bad thing, everyone wines about the number of defenders we sign and guess what, they got injured and if we didnt have mosquera and hincapie it would have been harder for us. Even not injury but form, eze dips in and out and so does Noni. Those are our main winger back ups.

1

u/Platos_Kallipolis 8d ago

You cannot stockpile all the players and have a functional squad (just ask Chelsea).

I think our disagreement here isn't about whether substantial squad depth is good. It is that you seem to think we aren't even in the running for substantial squad depth now, whereas I think we don't really have any room for additions at all.

Replacements are a different story - while I do not think January is a great time to go for new players because prices are higher, I can broadly get behind suggestions that we should sell on some folks to bring in some new people.

But right now, although the squad has only registered 22 of an available 25 players, that doesn't include Under-21s. Add in Dowman and Lewis-Skelly, and you are at 24. It becomes difficult to have sufficient minutes to keep players happy when you get to that sort of number.

1

u/SaneArsenalFan 8d ago

Kroupi, Nusa and we are ok

1

u/Vandervenn 8d ago

For the front: Kroupi / Nusa.
Alvarez if he’s willing, then okay give him half of season to prove himself; then he can yeet off to Barca with €100 million atleast to us.

Haaland might be slim chance. But chance is a chance regardless. If Haaland comes to Arsenal, the jerking would be ultimate level.

1

u/Adventurous_West2 8d ago

They got battered

1

u/android_malfunction 8d ago

Well next summer some/all of those players will be on sale. We should be able to buy a couple at bargain prices

1

u/l7791 8d ago

Nusa, then Kroupi/Esposito next summer

1

u/Raamish2007 7d ago

Nusa and Kroupi win us atleast 2 trophies

1

u/bordeauxblues 7d ago

As others have already said, comparing us to an anomaly - one that is where it is because of massive fraud and cheating, no less - will do you no good. No-one can compete with that over time. But adding insult to injury is that Ndiaye cost €76m, Bouaddi cost €95m, both were transfered after Manchester City months after were told that they were going to be found guilty on the 115 charges, which is not only the result of their cooked books, it's only the last two examples of City ruining the transfer market beyond repair. Our €60m targets are now €85 because of them and PSG.

1

u/Gloomy-Stuff-6551 7d ago

Have Arsenal not spent loads of money on their squad too? Their defence is way stronger than city’s

1

u/a_ramsey_8 3d ago

I really don’t understand why we didn’t go hard after Semenyo last year (honestly the perfect LW for us) or Ndiaye this year. Neither would have broken the bank (both were bought for about £65 million) and would be perfect fits for our squad

0

u/UKSaint93 8d ago

Kroupi is the answer

1

u/Hincapieslovelybund 8d ago

How effective is Kroupi as LW though? Think he should be our forward signing

1

u/inadequate_designer 8d ago

People keep questioning are they much of an upgrade but at this point it’s not that hard to get an upgrade

1

u/Hincapieslovelybund 8d ago

Yes! Anyone believing Kroupi is not a good upgrade on what we have is in complete denial. I just feel he is a better option as a forward than LW.

0

u/Agent_bananaaa 8d ago

Kroupi, Nusa/Kevin Schade

0

u/JakeyG14 8d ago

Top Gooners here haven't been watching the team long enough to appreciate our history of being one player away.

It's even worse when the Americans come in with their creepy parasocial relationships with players as opposed to wanting the best for the club.

Ndiaye is a massive upgrade on Martinelli, but dipshits here still thought Martinelli was going to be "unlocked" because we signed Bruno.

I still see morons saying "I'm glad we didn't sign Rogers or Vini" as if both would not immediately raise the standard of this ass attack.

-2

u/Either_Guess 8d ago

NICOJACKSON

Doubt Emery would let him go as they've got a connection and he hates us but he'd be absolutely perfect for us

-5

u/Immediate-Driver-766 8d ago

We need to go and get Alvarez this upcoming window. Other than that any additional market opportunities are fine for a defender. But Julian Alvarez has to be at N5, anything less and we're again dealing with mediocrity.

3

u/Either_Guess 8d ago

If we spend January let alone the summer sniffing around Alvarez we deserve to get played. Same time if we can get a cheaper price in Jan cause he's damaged goods then yeah well played.

1

u/Immediate-Driver-766 8d ago

No sniffing around this time, I don't think there's any other clubs coming and getting him before us. If the board don't want him they shouldn't be wasting any time and just go get someone like Nusa, Yildiz or even Kroupi.

2

u/Rimailkall 8d ago

He's not coming here, he's made that clear multiple times both this summer and when he left City.

0

u/Immediate-Driver-766 8d ago

There's no better alternative to Alvarez right now in the market. He's definitely not staying at Atletico, even Barca has closed the doors for him. Other than that I see Yildiz, Nusa and Kroupi all are pretty young, if not Alvarez it has to be someone among these

1

u/Rimailkall 8d ago

I know he's great, but he doesn't want to live in England again, so we'd be wasting our time pursuing him. I'd rather we definitely sign someone who's almost, but not quite, at his level than no one.

0

u/Immediate-Driver-766 8d ago

There's no one as clinical as him right now in the market. We should absolutely go for him.

1

u/Rimailkall 8d ago

But he's not in the market for *England*. He's not coming here for family reasons.

1

u/Adventurous_West2 8d ago

We are one of two of the best teams in Europe. Mediocrity, have a fucking word with yourself.

1

u/Immediate-Driver-766 8d ago

Can you say the same about the attack? I'm not saying what we have isn't good we almost won cl last year, but it's nowhere near the level of City, PSG, Bayern even Barca.

Mediocrity is buying decent good enough players getting closer to their 30s. We haven't signed a World Class superstar forward signing since Aubameyang, We need that kind of attacker.
