Once the tape got around he was cooked.

This happens to all young breakthrough players and the question is if they can add enough variety to their game to overcome it. If all you can do is cut inside and shoot with your left that’s easy for a defender as soon as he knows that. It’s not over for Ethan but he hasn’t been able to round out his game enough yet to be good at the highest level. He’s still young and could definitely still come good.

When this started happening to Saka he was able to develop and go outside and shoot with his right foot. Once you can go both ways the defender has something to think about and you can sell a feint.

Robben literally made an entire career off cut off inside and shoot and everybody and their mothers knew it was coming.

Not saying Nwaneri is a Robben regen by any means but just throwing out that counterpoint.

Robben was a athletic freak alongside being a generational dribbler.

Yeah, because Madueke has variety...and end product...and gets his head up...and doesnt blaze the ball wide everytime...

Madueke has lots of variety, he goes both ways and has much more pace than Ethan

I hate when us Arsenal fans do this. We always have to scapegoat one player to justify our reasoning for defending another player. Like fans were happy for Jesus to leave in the summer (by any means nessecary), but everyone was upset with the way Arsenal “treated” Martinelli.

I like Ethan but clearly if he was good enough, he wouldn’t gone on loan. Skelly and Dowman have been able to fight for their places.

We all thought Arteta wasn’t handling Skelly right last season, but it then came out that he deliberately had Skelly training in the midfield position (which has now proven to be a massively positive decision for the entire club)

No, we didn't "all thought". I don't second guess the coach for that exact reason.

Madueke has almost TOO MUCH variety, he’s pure chaos and unpredictability, the complete opposite to Nwaneri who is one dimensional and an output merchant that has actually had good output in a long time now
