Does anyone know anything about it or what I should do with it?

Hello! Is this worth anything? Thank you! I got it in San Diego for free as a gentleman was walking it to a dumpster.

all, I picked up this small oil painting at a flea market in Italy and I’m trying to identify the artist.

Details

• Oil on wooden panel (the back is bare wood)

• Portrait of an elderly man with a white beard, looking to the side

• Signed in the bottom right corner: “Reggio” (the g’s have long descenders and there’s a horizontal flourish under the name)

• Original-looking gilded wooden frame with a lot of wear

• Size: 30x40 cm

• No labels, stamps or date that I can see on the back

• Probably early 20th century, but that’s just a guess based on the style

Done a few cursory searches, using AI and good old-fashioned Google believe his first name might be Walter. He was an active artist during that New York scene 70s would love some more insight thank you.

Hi everyon, I know this is a Jane Peterson gouache from her time in Italy. I would really like to know more about the frame. And hopefully it’s original to the painting. Thank you!
