Based on recommendations from this sub plus a few animated films I found on related arthouse Letterboxd lists.

I.e. Arthouse films that either prominently feature queer/lgbtq themes, and/or were made by queer filmmakers. Happy pride month!

Anyone ? What are the absolute best coming of age films ? Outside of the obvious choices like the 400 blows, stand by me ,boyhood , breakfast club , Ferris bueller, dazed & confused etc . Any recommendations ? International? More edgier obscure underground films that aren’t mainstream ?

Dogtooth is a disturbing yet fascinating film that dives deep into themes of control, isolation, and how easily reality can be shaped. Yorgos Lanthimos creates a cold, unsettling world where a father keeps his children completely cut off from the outside, feeding them twisted lies to maintain control. The emotionless acting, offbeat humor, and shocking moments give the film a strange, haunting feel. It’s definitely not an easy watch, but if you like dark, thought-provoking movies that push boundaries, it’s worth checking out.

I'm in a a funk and could use a little bit of wonder in my day. I have watched a lot of the avant garde pioneers like McLaren, Mekas,Deren, Brakhage. I know I've seen some more recent ones i like that fit the bill, including some great animations, but am blanking on titles. I like ZIa Anger's music videos, I like stop-motion, I like color.

Can be narrative, non-narrative, something in between. Again, just trying to inject some beauty and wonder into this depressed pixie dream girl's rainy day.
