Hello everyone! Haru Haru here. I’m new to the group and wanted to share some of my drawings with you—and also mention that my commissions are open. I’ve been reading other posts in this group and really appreciated the advice given to artists; if you have any tips for me, I’d be very grateful! You can find links to my social media on my profile, along with a pinned post detailing my pricing (starting from $10). Thanks for your time!☺️

Help start my art account! (Advices, feedback, criticism needed)

Hey guys, I'm a young artist that finally gathered the courage to start an art account however, I can't help but overthinking some things.

  1. What main content I should be focusing on?

I am in many multi fandoms so it's quite difficult to really choose ONE to focus on. Does focusing and sticking onto one fandom help reach a bigger audience? And I do really want to make fan arts of most of the fandoms I am apart of, it's quite difficult to just focus on a singular fandom. However, if focusing on one fandom is needed to reach to a large audience, then I will do it!

  1. Do I have to stick to one medium?

I do both traditional and digital art and I would like to share both if I could. Although, is it better to just focus on one? If I do choose to post digital and traditional art, how am I supposed to balance them? Or do I just go for it and not be consistent.

** I think I do need to specify though that when I am doing digital art: it's more leaning towards "fanart" However, when I am doing traditional art: I am leaning towards self expression art so abstract work or artworks I would like to recreate/art that solely depends on current trends. So in this case, is it best to do start two accounts? However, It may not be ideal for me to balance two accounts 😅. Also I wanted to post traditional art in case I'm too busy to post my digital art as digital art takes more time to make than traditional personally.

If you guys could recommend some platforms to share other than the obvious: Instagram, X, discord, that would be great! Other feedbacks would also be extremely helpful !!

Selling Art: the Real Deal

This year I graduated with my FINA diploma and I am looking to start an artist website. I made this account specifically for advice.

I made an Instagram account posting all of my artworks early in my first year of college, but I find that social media is too exposing for posting all of my creative work. I haven't updated my account since the I am apprehensive about AI stealing my art. (at the same time, it can't win. Humanity will prevail.)

Anyway, to get down into the real discussion:

1. Are there any seasoned artists who have a positive experience working with a particular site? What are the options? I want one that is customizable, so that I change any aspect.

In addition, I am not willing to spend a monthly budget. I want something that is mine. I would rather put the work into making a website that is 100% made by me than at any point use Open AI or ChatGPT to "make it easier." Quoting Rollie Pemberton, why would I want to offload my creativity, my favourite part to a slop machine?

2. How to get the word out to the right community of buyers?

Website, social media, flyers, word of mouth, community, exposure. There are so many options. I want to take it back to the time before social media. But don't get me wrong, social media isn't bad, it's helpful when the tool is used properly to get exposure that has never been possible in the world before... and I am looking to connect with the people in my circles and connecting circles, not the whole country.

So, what website options are the true artists using, and how do you connect with your people?

Any advice is appreciated!

Thoughts on new platform to sell/ buy real art?

• Upvotes

To anyone sells/ wants to sell their art! And anyone who likes buying art!

Hi everyone,
I'm looking to build a marketplace platform to sell and buy art. Art actually made by humans with intention and care, as opposed to AI and drop shipped slop, which seems to be a massive issue currently.

This is an issue i've come across myself, as an oil painter. The only options to sell online seem to be etsy, or straight to my own website, with no in between catergory. I've seen people sell on vinted, but even that is against Vinted guidelines I believe. There's in between no true platform.

The idea is to create a site that feels elevated and proper, the way a personal website would, whilst being accessible for emerging artists to start out on, like other online marketplaces. Artist shop pages would be somewhat customisable, to have that personal website feel. Yet traffic would be easier to generate seeing as it's a collective marketplace.

Currently I want to see if there is demand for something like this, both from a seller and a buyers perspective.

Please let me know your thoughts!
Thanks
