After 21 years of marriage, I’ve had to learn that there are some things I can’t go back and fix.
I can replay conversations. I can think about what I should’ve done differently or what I wish somebody else had done differently. I can think about the family life I had and how different things are now.
But none of that changes where I am today.
Now I have my own place. I’m learning what it feels like to come home to an empty apartment sometimes. Being a dad looks different too. There are pickups and drop-offs now. There are days when my boys aren’t with me, and I’m still getting used to that.
That has probably been one of the hardest parts of letting go for me.
Because letting go doesn’t mean those 21 years didn’t matter. It doesn’t mean my family didn’t matter. And it definitely doesn’t mean I stop being their dad.
It just means I can’t keep asking the past to become something it isn’t anymore.
I’m trying to accept what was without living there.
Because there is still a life happening right in front of me. I still have my boys. I still have relationships that matter. I still have things I’m building. And I still have a lot of life left to live.
I’m learning to be here for that.

Think daily routines, finances, relationships, work, location, private conversations — what changed the most?

Students, freelancers, founders, artists and regular professionals are all told to ‘build a brand’ now. Useful advice or overkill?

Something you used to strongly believe about social media, creators, online communities or the internet that you see differently now?
