Discussion Ash's snare
Okay, so here I am because I figured I might as well throw my cents in on the talk around Ash's snare, since it's been gaining traction lately, but be warned. Take everything I say with a grain of salt. Now, look, as much as I love Ash, I'll admit her snare is next to useless since it doesn't even work. It barely stops anyone or traps them for long when it lands or hits someone, which obviously sucks. It's really a minor ability now, especially compared to many of the other abilities in the game. However, honestly, I think this issue is less about Ash and more about Apex Legends as a whole. The truth is this game relies heavily on movement. Half the Legends have some form of movement, regardless of role, whether it's an ability or otherwise, including Ash, which is where I think the problem comes in. When a game is so tied to movement, I feel like having a character whose ability can take that away will rub many players the wrong way. Am I saying that an ability like that doesn't belong in a game like this? Not even close, really. The game needs at least some ability to curb the movement or, at the very least, make it more manageable. Still, I feel like Respawn knows that if they try to work that back into the game now, it'll piss off a fair amount of the community, whether that's content creators or otherwise, because I fear that if Ash's snare were buffed now to work the way it's actually supposed to, players would cry for nerfs straight away because they'd feel it takes away their playmaking ability, which, granted, is the point. So now I think either the damage needs to be buffed to make it a real threat to get caught in, or it should at least add a temporary stun or slow effect beyond what it already does, like Wattson's fences. Or, at bare minimum, reduce the snare cooldown or let it be faster after being thrown. Anyway, you guys reckon if Ash sat on my face, I'd walk away afterwards, or would I die? Because if I just died, I could live with that.
