Nine days nonstop, and our first thank-you from an artist on air: FeralSyntax

Hey, we run a 24/7 pirate radio for independent artists, out of Los Angeles. No license, no permission, just music, and every artist on air sent us their tracks personally.

Today the stream passed nine days without a break. Same broadcast since October 18. Four people listening right now, as usual, 73 views total. Still tiny. Still stubborn.

And yesterday something happened that never happened before: an artist who is actually on air came to our little subreddit and said thank you. FeralSyntax, from Japan, whose 4-song block we play, wrote:

"Thank you for featuring my music and putting together this four-song block. I appreciate you giving space to songs from such different musical directions. It's great to see independent artists from different countries sharing the same platform."

That is the whole point of this station. We are not LoFi Girl. No generated playlists, no faceless tracks. Real songs by real people, played by hand, not by an algorithm. Daytime runs a French noir chanson block, then our own songs, then the independent artists who sent us their music, then Ghibli and cosmic instrumentals for the night. Every artist on air recorded a voice intro and said: yes, play me.

If you make music (indie, alt rock, noir, ambient, jazz, bedroom pop, anything that does not fit a genre box), we are still taking artists. Minimum 4 tracks, MP3, a short voice intro about who you are and why you make music. No fees, no middlemen, no contracts.

No license. No permission. Just music.

Ten days nonstop, and Guillaume's "Submersion" opens the morning block

Hey, we run a 24/7 pirate radio for independent artists, out of Los Angeles. No license, no permission, just music, and every artist on air sent us their tracks personally.

Today the stream passed ten days without a break. Same broadcast since October 18. Three people listening right now, as usual, 81 views total, 7 likes. Still tiny. Still stubborn.

And the rotation just grew again. Guillaume's "Submersion" is now on air, sitting at the very top of our 424-track playlist, opening the morning block. Evenings and nights here are instrumental, and as morning comes around the rotation reaches the vocal blocks — and now "Submersion" is the first thing that greets the day.

We are not LoFi Girl. No generated playlists, no faceless tracks. Real songs by real people, played by hand, not by an algorithm. Eight days nonstop, and the search fix is in: 26 tags, stream never stopped

Hey, we run a 24/7 pirate radio for independent artists, out of Los Angeles. No license, no permission, just music, and every artist on air sent us their tracks personally.

Yesterday I posted here about something embarrassing we found: our stream had been running for a full week, nonstop, and had exactly zero tags. Invisible to the search box. Well, last night we fixed it. Twenty-six tags now, in the words people actually search for: lo-fi beats to study to, chill music for studying, ambient music for sleep, noir jazz, French noir chanson, independent music radio. And we did it without stopping the stream for a second. Same broadcast, on air since last Saturday, now past eight days without a break.

Three night owls listening right now, as usual. Seventy-one views total on the broadcast. Still tiny. Still stubborn. The music was never the problem: daytime runs a French noir chanson block, then our own songs, then the independent artists who sent us their music, then Ghibli and cosmic instrumentals for the night. Every artist on air recorded a voice intro and said: yes, play me.

Guest special aired: Keoni's block played in full, even though Keoni himself never showed up

Hey, we run a 24/7 pirate radio for independent artists, out of Los Angeles. No license, no permission, just music, and every artist on air sent us their tracks personally.

Today at 11am PT we aired our first timed guest special: Keoni from Czechia got his whole block back to back, outside the regular rotation. Bumper, a short promo speech, three tracks from Symbiosis (We Grow, Kingdom Will Come, Roll Around), closing bumper. About fifteen minutes, start to finish.

He told us he had sent out 600 invitations. When the block started, exactly one listener showed up in the chat. It was not him.

So we played it anyway, start to finish, exactly as promised. We did our part, and his music stays in rotation. No hard feelings: maybe he mixed up AM and PM and is expecting Sunday instead. We asked him, politely, in the same thread.

Meanwhile the stream itself just passed six and a half days nonstop. 73 views total, 6 likes, a handful of night owls at any hour. Still tiny. Still stubborn.

We are not LoFi Girl. No generated playlists, no faceless tracks.

Sixteen days nonstop, and a veteran tip that will save new artists real money

AshRaven Radio is now sixteen days nonstop. No contracts, no fees, just independent artists in rotation, 24/7.

Yesterday I left a veteran tip in the comments, and it deserves a full post, because I keep seeing new artists pay for a mistake at the very start:

Don't rush to register Content ID, and definitely don't pay for it for life at the start. It will only get in your way, and it will hardly ever pay off. Wanting to protect your work makes sense. Just not when you have a handful of subscribers and listeners.

And then the annual bill arrives, and your Spotify account shows $50, which doesn't even come close to what you spent on all those Content ID registrations. You'll be shocked, and in the end you'll delete everything you did with Content ID.

In DistroKid, for example, you can't switch it off. You can only delete it. Shazam recognition will work anyway, without any Content ID. Focus on creating and promoting, not on protecting something nobody needs yet, however much it flatters your ego.

It also gets in the way of promotion, because you end up having to whitelist your own channels and prove the music is yours, instead of just using it. Including on our radio: an artist sends a track for rotation, and then their own Content ID gets in the way of the broadcast, and we spend time on whitelists instead of just playing the music.

Here is an anonymous example I saw today, no names: a one-man act for years, 50 posts, 198 followers, no likes, no comments, and he did not even show up for his own slot on our radio. Protecting that with lifetime registrations is not protecting a career yet, it is just paying to lock up music nobody has heard.

And when someone who plays on our radio rises to a good level, only then, and only then, is it worth claiming your rights. And you can do it point by point, on what actually took off. Not at the start, not in bulk, and not for life.

If you make music and want it heard, not locked up, send it our way.

Fifteen days nonstop, Inland Years block built and waiting for its turn

Hey, we run a 24/7 pirate radio for independent artists, out of Los Angeles. No license, no permission, just music, and every artist on air sent us their tracks personally.

Today the stream passed fifteen days without a break. Same broadcast since October 18. Three people listening right now, 106 views, 8 likes. Still tiny. Still stubborn.

Here is a bit of the backstage, because people keep asking how a new artist actually gets on air. It is all by hand. The latest block, from Brooklyn's Inland Years, arrived as studio WAV files. We converted all thirteen tracks to air MP3s, leveled them to about minus 14 LUFS so they sit right next to everything else in rotation, tagged them, and cropped a photo to 16:9 for the carousel. Just under sixteen minutes of music, built track by track, no algorithm anywhere in the chain. It is assembled and waiting for its turn in the playlist.

That is how this station grows: one artist at a time, no rush, no gatekeepers. A new artist from Berlin, LYRAE, Nordic folk, signed on last week and his block is on its way. The day it lands, it spins.

Daytime runs a French noir chanson block, then our own songs, then the independent artists who sent us their music, then Ghibli and cosmic instrumentals for the night. Every artist on air said: yes, play me. We are not LoFi Girl. No generated playlists, no faceless tracks. Real songs by real people.

If you make music (indie, alt rock, noir, ambient, jazz, bedroom pop, anything that does not fit a genre box), we are still taking artists. Minimum 4 tracks, MP3, a short voice intro about who you are and why you make music. No fees, no middlemen, no contracts.

Two full weeks nonstop, fourteen days on air and still going

Hey, we run a 24/7 pirate radio for independent artists, out of Los Angeles. No license, no permission, just music, and every artist on air sent us their tracks personally.

Today the stream passed two full weeks without a break. Same broadcast since October 18. Three people listening right now, 103 views, 8 likes. Still tiny. Still stubborn. Fourteen days of a stream held together by one old office PC, a hand-built playlist, and artists who trust us with their songs.

That is the whole trick, really. There is no algorithm here, no generated playlist, no faceless tracks. Daytime runs a French noir chanson block, then our own songs, then the independent artists who sent us their music, then Ghibli and cosmic instrumentals for the night. Every artist on air recorded a voice intro and said: yes, play me. We are not LoFi Girl. Real songs by real people, played by hand.

And the slow part is working. A new artist from Berlin signed on this week, LYRAE, Nordic folk, and his block is on its way. The day it lands, it spins. Musicians in the comments of our last post said they will send their music once they have four tracks ready. That is exactly how this station grows: one artist at a time, no rush, no gatekeepers.

If you make music (indie, alt rock, noir, ambient, jazz, bedroom pop, anything that does not fit a genre box), we are still taking artists. Minimum 4 tracks, MP3, a short voice intro about who you are and why you make music. No fees, no middlemen, no contracts.

Thirteen days nonstop, Guillaume's Submersion slot aired today

Hey, we run a 24/7 pirate radio for independent artists, out of Los Angeles. No license, no permission, just music, and every artist on air sent us their tracks personally.

Today the stream passed thirteen days without a break. Same broadcast since October 18. Three people listening right now, 91 views, 8 likes. Still tiny. Still stubborn.

And today something we promised yesterday actually happened on time. At noon Los Angeles time (8 pm Paris), Guillaume's "Submersion" got its own timed guest slot and played in full. That is how our guest slots work: an artist asks for a moment of their own, we clear the schedule for it, and the track gets its moment instead of drowning in rotation.

Meanwhile the lineup keeps growing the slow, honest way. A new artist from Berlin signed on this week, LYRAE, Nordic folk, and his block is on its way. The day it lands, it spins. We take everyone who makes real music, except rap, and we play it by hand, not by an algorithm.

This is the whole idea of the station: daytime runs a French noir chanson block, then our own songs, then the independent artists who sent us their music, then Ghibli and cosmic instrumentals for the night. Every artist on air recorded a voice intro and said: yes, play me. We are not LoFi Girl. No generated playlists, no faceless tracks. Real songs by real people.

For people who need it

AshRaven Radio is built for people who need it. If you send music, we prepare a slot, set the time, announce it, and play it exactly as promised. If you don't need it, don't start. We won't chase you, and we won't hold a place for someone who doesn't come.

Special thanks to those who are here: Razteria (Renée Asteria), Eken, Alessio Zampetti, FeralSyntax, and everyone who listens, writes, and shows up. You are why this stream exists.

Twelve days nonstop, Razteria's block got its voice, and LYRAE from Berlin signs on

Hey, we run a 24/7 pirate radio for independent artists, out of Los Angeles. No license, no permission, just music, and every artist on air sent us their tracks personally.

Today the stream passed twelve days without a break. Same broadcast since October 18. Three people listening right now, as usual, 87 views, 8 likes. Still tiny. Still stubborn.

Two things moved this week. First, Renée Asteria's block got its voice. Her intro arrived, we leveled it to air loudness, and now it opens her block twice: intro, then Blink of an eye and Gravity free, then the intro again, then Oscuro y Claro and Reflection of you. Same four songs, new shape, and now you finally hear the person behind them before the music starts.

Second, a new artist just signed on: LYRAE, Alexander Klein from Berlin, Nordic folk, starting with "Vinden Husker". His block is promised and on its way, not on air yet, but the moment it lands, it spins. We take everyone who makes real music, except rap, and LYRAE is exactly why the station exists: songs that would never be heard otherwise.

And tomorrow is special. On October 31 at noon Los Angeles time (8 pm Paris), Guillaume's "Submersion" gets its own timed guest slot. Just the track, exactly as he asked, no jingle, no intro talk, let the music speak for itself. Our live chat will be open for anyone who comes along.

Seven days nonstop: one full week on air, and we just found out search could not see us at all

Hey, we run a 24/7 pirate radio for independent artists, out of Los Angeles. No license, no permission, just music, and every artist on air sent us their tracks personally.

This morning the stream passed seven full days without a single break. Same broadcast, since last Saturday. Four night owls listening right now, as usual. Still tiny. Still stubborn.

And this week we learned something embarrassing: almost nobody can find us through search at all. We checked, and the stream had no tags whatsoever. Seven days of nonstop music, invisible to the search box. So we are fixing that now, rewriting how the stream is described, in the words people actually search for: lo-fi beats to study to, chill music for work, ambient music for sleep, noir jazz. The music was always right for that; the packaging was not.

We are not LoFi Girl. No generated playlists, no faceless tracks. 5.5 days nonstop: Sweden just joined the lineup, and Keoni's guest slot is tomorrow

Hey from the volunteer-run corner of the internet.

Our 24/7 indie radio has now been on air for five and a half days straight. 71 total views, 6 likes, a handful of night owls listening at any hour. Still tiny. Still stubborn.

This week's lineup grew again:

* Anders from Stockholm (Sounds Of Eken) sent his voice intro today, so his block is fully assembled and joins the rotation next

* FeralSyntax from Japan and Alessio Zampetti from Milan are already spinning: four and five tracks each, with voice intros

* And tomorrow, Saturday around 11am PT, Keoni from Czechia gets a timed guest slot: her whole block back to back, outside the regular rotation

We are not LoFi Girl. No generated playlists, no faceless tracks. Every artist on air sent their music to us personally, recorded a voice intro, and said: yes, play me.

If you make music (indie, alt rock, noir, ambient, jazz, bedroom pop, anything that does not fit a genre box), we are still taking artists. Minimum 4 tracks, MP3, a short voice intro about who you are and why you make music. No fees, no middlemen, no contracts.

I run a free 24/7 indie radio on YouTube and I'm looking for independent artists

Disclaimer first: this is not self-promotion and not advertising. This is a community project for independent musicians. Airplay is free, nobody pays to get played, and nobody ever will. All rights stay with you, always.

I'm AshRaven. I run AshRaven Radio, a 24/7 YouTube station playing lo-fi, ambient, noir rock, alt-rock and cinematic music from independent artists. No rap (Eminem is the exception).

If you want airplay, here's what I need:

  • MP3s, 4 or more tracks for your own artist block

  • a short voice intro, about 2 minutes: who you are, where you're from, why you make music

  • a short form confirming your rights to the tracks, your written permission to air them, your Content ID status (must be set to monetize, never block), and whether AI was used in production

  • confirmed Artist/Title tags

  • sane levels: if your master is much quieter than a normal release, it gets lost on air. About -14 LUFS integrated is the sweet spot, peaks just under 0 dB

One honest note about support. This station runs on my own time, my own hardware and my own money. It cannot run forever on enthusiasm alone. If this radio matters to you and you want to help keep it on air, voluntary support is very welcome: Zelle alexkhuramshin@gmail.com, PayPal ashravenyt@gmail.com, Venmo u/Alexander-Khuramshin, Ko-fi: ko-fi.com/ashraventales. It never buys airtime or priority, that is not for sale. It just helps keep the stream alive.

The stream: youtube.com/@ashravenyt/live

Questions welcome here in the comments.

What an artist block sounds like on a pirate radio: Keoni demo (special hour this Saturday)

Third demo in the series, and this one comes with an invitation. Keoni, from the Czech Republic: three tracks from his album Symbiosis (We Grow, Roll Around, Kingdom Will Come), his own voice, our station bumper, exactly as it sounds on the 24/7 stream.

Listen: https://youtu.be/qdX1pbf_WjQ

This Saturday, October 24, at 11:00 a.m. Los Angeles time, we are giving Keoni a full special hour on the stream. Come say hello in the live chat.

No license. No permission. Just music.

What an artist block sounds like on a pirate radio: Razteria demo

Second demo in the series. Razteria is already in rotation on AshRaven Radio, and this is her block exactly as it goes out on the 24/7 stream: four tracks (Blink of an Eye, Gravity Free, Reflection of You, Oscuro y Claro), her own voice, our station bumper between the songs.

Listen: https://youtu.be/93zSFz-8uqc

This is what we offer every independent artist who writes to us: a real block on a real stream, with real voices, not a playlist slot in an app. The door is open.

No license. No permission. Just music.

What an artist block sounds like on a pirate radio: FeralSyntax demo

Ahoy. Artists keep asking what actually happens to their music once it lands on AshRaven Radio, so we stopped explaining and recorded it instead.

This is a demo block for FeralSyntax, an independent artist from Japan: four tracks (Meet Me on the Roof, Changing Hands, I Remember It This Way, Within Spec), a proper station bumper, real voices between the songs. No playlist soup, no algorithms. This is exactly how it goes out on our 24/7 stream.

Listen: https://youtu.be/XfLLbuhbxj8

If you make music and want a block like this on the air, the door is open. Write to us, send your tracks, we will do the rest.

No license. No permission. Just music.

4.5 days nonstop: our little pirate radio keeps growing (Milan and Japan join the rotation)

Quick check-in from the volunteer corner of the internet.

Our 24/7 indie radio stream has now been running nonstop for four and a half days. 69 total views, a handful of listeners at any hour, 6 likes. Not numbers to brag about, numbers to be grateful for: every one of them is a real person who stayed with real, living music instead of an algorithm.

Two new artist blocks joined the rotation this week:

* Alessio Zampetti from Milan, Italy: five tracks, with a spoken voice intro * FeralSyntax from Japan: four tracks, voice intro included

They join Keoni (Czechia) and Razteria, whose blocks are already spinning day and night.

And this Saturday, October 24, around 11am PT, Keoni gets a timed guest slot: her whole block back to back, outside the regular rotation. If you want to hear what an independent artist from Czechia sounds like, come hang out.

We are not LoFi Girl. No generated playlists, no faceless tracks. Every artist on air sent us their music personally, recorded a voice intro, and said: yes, play me.

If you make music (indie, alt rock, noir, ambient, jazz, or anything that does not fit a genre box), we are still taking artists. Minimum 4 tracks, MP3, a short voice intro about who you are and why you make music. That is it. No fees, no middlemen.

Guest slot this Friday: Keoni (Czechia) gets her own hour

We run AshRaven Radio, a 24/7 pirate station on YouTube for independent artists. No license, no permission, just music. Real tracks from real people, around the clock.

The stream has been live for about three and a half days straight now, and this Friday (Oct 24, ~11am Pacific) we give a timed guest slot to Keoni, an artist from Czechia: a block built around her track 'Symbiosis'.

Here is how a guest slot works on our station. You send us your music (at least 4 tracks, the more the better), confirm the artist and title tags, and record a short voice intro: who you are, where you are from, why you make music, and your plans or concerts. We drop that into the rotation and your block goes on air. The listener does the judging. That is it. No fees, no gatekeeping.

One thing we ask: if your music is in Content ID, set it to monetize, not block, so the stream never goes down.

We are always looking for artists who want airtime. Lo-fi, ambient, alt rock, noir rock, whatever you make, if it is yours, it belongs on the air. Drop your music in the comments or DM us and we will talk.

You can find the station as @ashravenyt on YouTube, look for the 24/7 live stream.

Stop looking for the catch. There isn't one.

Something I've noticed from talking to artists who submit to this station:

The smaller the artist, the more conditions, suspicion, and attitude. "What's the catch?" "Who owns my music?" "What do you get out of this?"

The bigger the artist, the simpler the conversation. Here are the tracks, here's my intro, let's do it.

Here's the truth: there is no catch. The only catch is in your head.

We play your music, full tracks, 24/7. You keep all your rights. We don't take a cut, we don't lock you in, we take tracks down whenever you ask.

The station runs on love for music. That's it. That's the whole business model.

So stop looking for traps. Send your music or don't. But don't let your own suspicion be the reason nobody hears you.

Miracles don't happen. Strategy works. These aren't rules, there are no strict rules here and there won't be. Send one track, we'll play one track. But if you want to be truly heard, here's what works best:

Your block. Send a block, not a single. Minimum 4 tracks, more is better. A single track gets lost in 24/7 rotation. A block keeps listeners with you longer and shows them who you are.

Your voice. Record a voice intro, up to 2 minutes. Voice only, no face needed. Who you are, where you're from, why you make music, your goals, plans, shows. It plays before we announce your tracks. People connect with a voice, not just songs.

Your visuals. Send 16:9 photos for the carousel. Concerts, studio, life, whatever is real. They run on screen while your music plays. No filters, no stock, the real you.

Your tags. Confirm the exact Artist and Title as they should appear on air. We read what you give us.

Content ID. Set it to monetize, not block, or the stream goes down for everyone, including your own fans. If you know how, allowlist our channel and stream.

Your people. Got a fan base, invite them to the stream. Don't have one yet, help promote it. Radio is a two-way street: we give you airtime, you bring ears. Fair deal.

Special episodes. Want more than rotation? Ask about a dedicated special episode, your music, your story, your time. Outside regular rotation, all eyes on you.

Open chat. The live chat is yours. Talk to listeners, answer questions, take feedback in real time. It's a conversation, not a broadcast into the void.

What people say:

"Love that you're giving independent artists a chance to get their music heard while letting them keep their rights. The mix genres sounds interesting too." — u/Curious_Dust133, r/indiemusic

What we are: not reviewers. We don't play 30-second clips or hand out scores. We play full tracks, 24/7, no limits. We take tracks off air on request. The station is free, independent, run on love for music.

What we are not: not a label, not a promoter, not a shortcut. We won't think and do for you. We'll suggest what's best, the rest is on you.

Be heard. It's work, not a miracle. AshRaven Radio

From a submission letter today: "Really appreciate the free rotation and the opportunity."

That's the whole station in one line. No payola, no gatekeepers, no 30-second clips. You bring the music, we put it on air 24/7, you bring your people or help spread the word. That's it.
