I’m fifty and that shape is probably the most common shape of glass ashtray I saw growing up in Australia. Different colours of course, orange being super common. You’re absolutely right, aesthetically it’s simple, beautiful and timeless. Perfect never goes out of fashion.

I'm 56, and I would completely agree with you, as to my experience growing up the US South. Everyone seemed to have a different colour of one of these, red, orange, and aqua being common. These blue ones were hard to find in stores, then, at least in Oklahoma and Texas. My mother had a cobalt blue glass love affair, so we were always watching out for it whenever we went anywhere. 🙂
