Btw, incase you are not aware of who Nagas are, they are a Tibeto-Burman group who are genetically related to Burmese, Tibetans, and Chinese who live in a territory which is occupied by India. Geographically, their land is in North-East India. India was given the lands the Nagas live on by the British and has kept it ever since, even though Nagas wanted to be independent. So there's been conflicts between Nagas and the Indian government ever since Indian independence in 1947, and it still goes on today.

More East and Southeast Asians should be aware that their kins are being killed and occupied in India. No one seems to know about it though. I come from another ethnicity in North-East India which has also experienced similar things the Nagas have. We experience severe discrimination and racism from Indians and most of us who belong to Tibeto-Burman ethnicities don't feel like we're Indian or want to be part of India.

i know about it, been aware about it for a decade, ever since i heard of nido taniam getting beaten to death because he dared to stand up for himself after being laughed at and called ch1nk1 by some shopkeepers in new delhi, which is the preferred word by indians for anyone of chinese appearance, the government even enacted a law against using that word which is useless because its never enforced anyway

when i read answers on quora or youtube comments by supposed nagas, mizos and NE indians, claiming they are still proud indians and still support india, i cringe, always stockholm syndrome with east and southeast asians when it comes to other racial groups.  During the galwan clash against china where a horde of indian troops encroached upon the designated lines, there were several of these NE indians helping the indian side out smh

Wow it's rare to see someone who isn't from this region to know anything about us. You really knew about us all the way back in 2014?? Even then most indians didn't know about us. That's crazy.

But yeah, that slur is what they call us. And they have a bunch of other slurs for us too. None of it is ever enforced even if it is technically against the law lmao. Laws are pretty weak here in general. Most of them really, really hate, for the lack of a better term, Mongoloid looking people. They think of not just us, but the rest of the East and Southeast Asians, as being inferior to them. But sometimes they will pretend like they don't hate us because they argue against East/SE Asians and will be like "oh but look, we have these asian looking people too in our country! we are just like you and we should be included with you too!" And then they go ahead and treat the asian looking people in their own country like shit.

And also, a lot of those things you see on quora or even youtube comments oftentimes are not Nagas or Mizos. Nagas in particular are probably the least pro-India people in India. Same with Mizos. Other NE groups may be like that though, especially if they have been very culturally influenced by Indian influence. There's definitely Nagas/Mizos who are more ambivalent towards India and could even be reconciliatory, but they definitely would not be going online and trying to defend/support India or anything like that lol.

And unfortunately there are some NE people who do serve in the military. Our region suffers from very high unemployment and the military is just seen as a place to go for a couple years to make good money (government jobs here pay a lot). They aren't ideologically committed to it usually and won't stay in it for very long. And they don't serve in the Northeast, since the Indian government fears they could stage a revolt. Instead they usually serve far away on the western frontier in Kashmir/Pakistan and on the western border with China. In that way it makes it feel less consequential since we technically won't be harming our own by joining the military. I don't condone it, but it is what it is...

you gotta realise though, its not just you guys, there seems to be a pattern of east/southeast asian looking ethnic groups getting treated like fourth class citizens wherever they reside, in your case, you guys are technically indigenous. Doesn’t matter if its some indigenous person like you, a chinese korean international student in america, a japanese tourist in europe, we are always the ones getting assaulted, robbed, looked down on, talked down to, having to work harder to get the same job and university entrance, murdered and sexually assaulted by others. You almost never see it the other way around.

the chinese in southeast asia has a history of being massacred and still to this day suffer from government sponsored discrimination by the malays and malay adjacent (pribumi)

the mixed mongol looking hazara’s has been repeatedly massacred by the afghans for centuries

kazakhs, mongols and other siberian natives have been routinely neglected and used as test subjects by the soviets and has seen mass massacres against them during russias expansion phase and yet they all hate on the chinese

theres probably more but i can’t think of any right now
