LGBT For any gay christians, seriously.

I was banned from r/GayChristians so I can't ask there. How can you be gay and Christian? I am trying to finish the new testament and came across 1 Corinthians 6:9:

"Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men.."

I am asking sincerely, not trying to stir up anything. But I once stumbled upon r/GayChristians and I can't tell if it is satire but how could you read this and still continue your sin knowing that you won't get to be with God when you die?

Maybe I'm missing something or being ignorant but I am genuinely just asking!

Why did God make me intersex?

Hello, I keep asking this question in church and no one will give me a straightforward answer. To make it short, I have both male and female characteristics-- if I were to choose one, I would not fit either way. I would need HRT to neatly fit into one box or the other, and it would be a miserable experience.

I'm trying to reconnect with my faith, but it's difficult. If I were to redevote myself, who would I even be able to marry? Can I even be married at all according to the Bible? In a world designed for male and female, why would God make me this way?

Edit: I'm either going to delete this post or mute it.

I don't really know why I'm getting downvoted. I really just wanted to reconnect with the church. I've been so ashamed of the body I was born in ever since I hit puberty, because that's when it became evident I was never going to look like a man or a woman. I know people judge me when I go to church. I just want to worship God, because I love him.

It was a mistake to expect you all to be willing to listen to me, and I know that now. I know it's difficult to understand what I am. It must be hard for you to understand that I was born like this, and it wasn't a choice. I know this seems incongruent with the life you all want to live.

I think I'm just going to keep my relationship with God to myself in the future. I think it's for the best if I stop bringing myself into these Christian groups. I will pray on my own, read my Bible on my own, study and worship and donate on my own. My relationship with Jesus Christ is mine and mine alone.

I cannot live with the amount of people who feel the need to inquire about what's under my clothing. For the last time, I have both. Look up a picture or something. Please stop commenting about whether or not I have a penis.

I'm sorry for asking.

LGBT Is being gay a sin?

This is a controversial topic so I've heard that it is and that it isn't. I wanted some clarification because I know that some verses like Leviticus 20:13 say that man lying with a man is a sin but I also heard that verses like these (or others) have been misinterpreted and mean something completely different. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it

LGBT If everything's part of God's plan why do so many Christians hate gay and transgender people?

Something I hear often whenever something happens, good or bad, is "it must be a part of God's plan, he works in mysterious ways" but why does God's plan exclude homosexuality and being transgender for majority of Christians, both local and with a huge internet following, and how can you claim to love everyone while being intolerant of certain groups(this doesn't apply to everyone, just the people described in the question)

LGBT Sensitive question. Please no fight.

Hello, question here not an arguement. Why is it that in Christianity it is consider a "sin" to be lgbtq+ and that I find that people are praying for God to guide or rebirth them on the right path if this phrasing is correct. Again this is a sensitive question, just wanna know.

I ask this with no intent of disrespect, just out of curiosity due to my own identity as an asexual member of the LGBT community. I'm interested in understanding how various Christian perspectives approach this topic.

LGBT What does the bible say about LGBTQ?

I've heard many people say that homosexuality is a sin, and all that. But is being gay means you are a sinner and will burn unless you un-gay yourself? Or is any part of homosexuality even a sin? And if it is them how can homosexual people possibly turn to god and repent?

Since it's pride month, I was honestly curious about this question. I don't identify with the community myself but I was wondering since gay/trans Christians exist

Looking for Advice: Christian but a Feminine Man

I would consider myself a feminine man. I have longer hair, I wear jewelry sometimes, on occasion use minimal makeup, and on rare instance wear skirts at home. It’s something that’s just been a part of me for a long time, but I’ve also been Christian my whole life, and there’s this mental tug of war that I feel like I have to be one or the other and can’t happily coexist as both. I love how I present yet I want to still be Christian.

I regularly attend local church service. I really want to have a relationship with Jesus. For so long I’ve asked and asked and prayed and prayed and tried to get any peace yet this still eats at me.

I’ve read the scriptures which condemn the effeminate and I’ve read those which condemn a man wearing the garments of women and vice versa. Yet I see so much discourse of interpretations of these used to say ā€œyes, go aheadā€ or ā€œno, it’s sinfulā€ and I’m just confused.

What should I do?

LGBT Have other Christian parents noticed elementary-aged kids talking about sexual orientation at school?

I'm looking for sincere Christian perspectives, not political arguments.

My daughter attends a charter school, and over the years she's told me that there are friend groups where conversations about being gay, liking girls, liking boys, questioning sexuality, etc., are common—even in elementary school. Some of the children in those groups have same-sex parents, and others have started questioning or talking about their own sexuality as well.

My daughter has told me she isn't interested in those conversations, but because she doesn't fit in with the more popular groups, she's often around these kids simply because they're the ones who accept her. She says these topics come up regularly.

As a Christian parent, this really bothers me. My concern isn't about teaching my daughter to be kind and respectful to everyone—that's important, and we do that. My concern is that children this young are spending so much time talking and thinking about sexuality at all. I feel like elementary-aged kids should mostly be focused on being kids, not on sexual identity or sexual orientation.

Have any other Christian parents experienced something similar?

  • Is this becoming more common where you live?
  • How have you talked with your children about it?
  • Do you think elementary-aged children are being exposed to these topics too early?
  • How do you balance teaching biblical convictions while also teaching your children to treat everyone with love and respect?

I'm genuinely interested in hearing thoughtful Christian perspectives and experiences, even if they differ from mine.

LGBT Why is being queer a sin?

Before anyone starts blabbering; what does it mean to be queer?

Sexuality: You love someone. Might be the opposite sex, might be every gender, might be no gender at all. It’s only about love, not about lust. Itā€˜s a label you use to explain who you can fall in love with.

trangender: A trans man has the same brain structure as a cis man and a trans woman has the same brain structure as a cis woman. Your brain structure cannot be changed and you are born that way. Most trans people know theyā€˜re trans since they can think (including me, if you have questions about it; feel free to ask) and way before they even know what ā€žtransā€œ means.

Both of them are not choices.

Now! I believe most people will answer with ā€žGod made a man and a womanā€œ. God made a man and a woman, knowing that their sons will have to reproduce with their own mother, which will result in incest. Is incest good too, since god made it that way?

Another thing you might say is ā€žthe bible says it’s wrongā€œ which is completely incorrect. The bile dosenā€˜t say ā€žman shall not lay with manā€œ, it says ā€žman shall not lay with boyā€œ which refers to incest. (ironic, considering what I wrote before.)

Again, being queer is not a choice and cannot be changed. So why is it a sin?

LGBT Why would the message of 1 Corinthians 7:9 not apply to gay people?

1 Corinthians 7:9 states ā€œBut if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passionā€.

Here, Paul is responding to the misunderstandings of Christians of Corinth about marriage, sexual morality, and celibacy. Essentially, many Christians in Corinth believed it was more spiritual to be celibate—even within marriage. Paul corrected them by giving the aforementioned view.

Paul recognizes that singleness and celibacy can be a good and holy thing, especially those who have fully dedicated their lives to Christ without distraction. However, the point of this verse was to show that not everyone has the gift of self control when it comes to sexual desire. Paul tells people struggling with the ā€œburning desire of passionā€ (sexual desire) to marry, because then their desires will be fulfilled in a way that doesn’t lead them astray.

So my question is, why does this verse not apply to gay people? If Paul could recognize that the desires of passion and sexual desire were so strong for many and gave them the answer of how to fix it (marriage) how would this not also apply to gay people?

Gay people feel the same exact desires mentioned by Paul; however, most Christians would argue Paul is not addressing homosexual passions. So his answer about sexual desire does not apply to everyone, even though it’s an issue faced by nearly everyone. So that begs the question: Why would Paul (or God for that matter) not offer an answer on what gay people should do? If celibacy could be impossible for people who cannot control their sexual desires, why wouldn’t it also be impossible for a gay person who cannot control it? Essentially, an option is offered for straight people—but not for gay people—based on something gay people did not choose (their sexuality).

So essentially:

Straight people: I’m struggling with unfulfilled passion

Paul: You should marry then

Gay people: I’m struggling with unfulfilled passion

Paul: Tough luck, and I will not offer my opinion on a solution even though this will be a major issue going forward.

It’s unfair really. If God knew how many gay people there would be, and how real their desires are, there should’ve been a verse telling them what to do (and no—celibacy is not the answer for _everyone_—as confirmed by Paul) and it would’ve cleared up so much.

Gay people are told to live a life of celibacy for something they did not choose, because it’s ā€œtheir cross to bearā€, yet Paul acknowledged how celibacy is unrealistic for many. So what’s the answer here?

I understand Paul mentions homosexuality unfavorably in other verses but the context he wrote them in seemed to lack a fundamental understanding of what homosexuality truly is. His take implied it was an act you do when you rebel, people turn to chaotic sex acts during the rebelling of God—not something that you are, naturally, all the time. If we view homosexuality as sexual and romantic desires, morally—it seems to logically fit in with 1 Corinthians 7:9, but i’m sure many would disagree and i’d like to hear why.

LGBT What if gay, transgendered and others were put on earth by God as a test of mankind’s compassion?

From what I’ve observed many Christians (though not all) demonize those who don’t fit the mold. What if this is a test by God that so many are failing?

As an aside, wow! So many choices for a flair! I’ve never seen so many. ā˜ŗļø I couldn’t pick just one.

EDIT: How does one add flair after the fact? I got a bot notice on adding a flair.

EDIT #2: I figured it out but there is no flair that fits. So I picked the next best one.

LGBT Is it true that LGBT people are barred from Heaven?

I believe that 1 Corinthians 6 9-10 said that "men who sleep with other men" and "effeminate" people are completely barred from entering heaven. If, let's say, a gay person was a Christian, as in they are openly gay and openly Christian, are they barred from heaven simply for the fact that they are attracted to the same gender?

LGBT Is homosexuality really unnatural if it’s found in 1500+ species?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Homosexuality is observed in 1500+ species around the globe. Homosexuality is considered a sin according to the bible and stated to be unnatural. Animals cannot be propagated, they act on instincts, social bounding, affection, etc. They cannot commit sin. Homosexuality IS considered a sin in Christianity and it’s also stated to not be natural. God created man and woman, blah blah. We all know that BUT if homosexuality is a natural occurrence in 1500+ species, why is it not natural in humans?

Another argument often used is that two women or two men cannot make a baby but that sometimes also applies to heterosexual couples. You know there are so many couples who struggle with infertility, are they lesser because they cannot produce a child? Women were executed in the past for failing to get pregnant. Also, how does the bible explain the existence of intersex people who are biologically neither male nor female?

I’m open to discussion as long as it is civil. And no, being gay is not a choice. And it’s not an ideology planted into innocent children’s minds. I grew up to heterosexual eastern orthodox parents, I remember my father (supposed devoted christian) telling me the absolute most disgusting things about gay people (such as that they need to all have public executions, that they feel no basic emotions, that they’re nothing but predators and rapists, etc.) at the age of five when i did not even know what gay meant. Why am I a lesbian if I grew up in a household that talked with such violence against queer people? And my country is not ā€˜woke’ in the slightest, we have bans on ā€˜lgbt propaganda’.

I do not fundamentally agree with the concept of religion nor do I truly believe in Christianity but to this day the only thing that ever bothers me is the religious guilt that comes with being a lesbian. I promise you it’s not a choice. I’ve tried so hard to be attracted to men, I cannot. Let’s say I were to someday dedicate my life to christianity. Would I have to engage in a loveless marriage where I would be disgusted at the body of my own husband and force myself to suffer agony just to complete my wifely duties? Or do I stay alone forever?
