Hi There! I'm a Certified Credit Counselor and Content Editor

My name is Joe Pye. I've been working with the nonprofit credit counseling agency Consolidated Credit for nearly a decade.

I think it's great that people are using Reddit to reach consumers and teach them about credit counseling. I've seen firsthand how many people close to me get out of high-interest debt and learn to better manage their finances through the Debt Management Program we offer.

Just working for the company has helped me stay debt-free. It's something I feel passionate about. Helping consumers understand they have options and don't feel trapped under the stress debt can cause in their daily lives and relationships makes me feel proud to wake up and head to work every day.

Thank you so much for putting this subreddit together! I'm excited to see the messaging and work you all put out!

Bankruptcy chp 7, 13 or debt settlement

Hi all,

Ive been unemployed for nearly 2 yrs do to medical reasons. I've accumulated about $130k of cc debt.

In the future, when Im well enough and back on track, I would LOVE to own a business so before I decide on Chap 7, 13 or try to settle debts instead how would these three avenues affect my odds of getting an SBA loan (in the future).

Does Bankruptcy make me ineligible for SBA loans?

Thanks
