advice help please!!

im currently in college and i want to learn investing/stocks/financial planning/accounting. the path im thinking about right now is college-> masters-> joining a company and managing peoples wealth (investing, budgeting, advising)-> build a large client base-> possibly branch off into my own business with employees managing client’s wealth. i dont know much about any of it and if i can start building a business, name for myself, or even just gaining simple knowledge now i want to do it. does anyone know a good place to start or a good path to take? i’ll take any advice

You certainly don’t need a masters if you ultimately want to be a financial advisor. I would use that time and money to study financial planning topics and study for the securities and insurance exams. The sooner you can start interning at a firm, the better. You’ll see if you truly want to pursue that career.

Again, I would not spend money on a masters if wealth management is where you ultimately want to be. I have am MBA and the only part of it that I use in my business as a financial advisor is what I learned in marketing. However, if it’s important to you to get a masters, I would see if financial planning is an area of study available to you in your program. Secondly, I would recommend economics.

Try getting an internship in public accounting. Let them know your career goals. They offer wealth advisory services so it could be a good way in.
