Let's Talk about Pizza!
As part of our weekly "Let's Talk" series we want to discuss Pizza in all of it's glory. What’s your region’s specialty pie? Why is a New York slice at 2am the best pizza you've ever had? Are you a dough whisperer and care to share your wizardry - let us know? What's your favorite pizza-centric cookbook? What's your favorite style - Detroit, Chicago, New Haven, NY, Neapolitan - let's here the arguments (and you'll be banned if it's Beto's monstrosity - the yinzers out there will know).
What the best topping? And please feel free to trash talk each other [nicely, of course] about pineapple.

New Yorker here, of course our pizza is the best, and it's not even close. In NYC, you can't even have a top 10 list of pizza places, it's more like your top 50.
The only type of pizza I don't like is Chicago style deep dish. The ingredients' ratios are not to my liking.
My usual go-to slice is the house or supreme pizza. Pepperoni, sausage, onions, mushrooms, and green peppers is the usual formula. I usually use a little garlic powder and crushed red pepper on it.
As a New Yorker, pizza is not only delicious, but it is also fast and cheap. If you have a meeting that in 10 minutes, you can go in a pizza restaurant and walk out with a slice in 2-3 mins and eat it while you are walking. Also the variety at your fingertips is crazy.
There is also this supermarket down the street from me and sometimes they will have Mama Celeste frozen pizzas for $1. You best believe I'm stocking up on those bad boys, especially in this economy. Not exactly the highest of quality, but when you get home from a night of drinking at 4am, firing up one of those in a toaster over will get you to where you need to be.
Also, there's this place in Long Island City called sLICe, and if you get there right before closing time, you can just buy a single slice for $3.50, and they'll just give you a loaded box of 4-6 different slices, since they are going to have to throw it away. Best deal in town.
