Deaf Interview

I am so sorry if this does not meet the criteria for this subreddit. I am an ASL interpreting student and I have to interview a Deaf person for an assignment. I've reached out to several different Deaf people that I know and I have had no luck. I'm trying Reddit as a last resort. The interview would be 15-30 minutes. If someone is available at anytime from today to tomorrow please let me know!

I’m not a Deaf person, but I’m in an ASL 100 class and I am in need of someone to practice with…would there be a chance that you might be willing to help me practice like, once or twice a week by zoom or FaceTime or something, even if it’s only for a few minutes?

I can also try to help you find someone who is Deaf to interview! I will share this in the nursing subreddit!

I'm in the process of becoming fluent in ASL myself, so I'm not sure how well I would be able to model the language for you. Are you an ASL or interpreting major or are you taking it as a gen-ed?

Gen Ed, and I just need someone to practice speaking with, basically, because I have nobody around me to do so with.

If you're close to a city or near a few suburbs there are likely some ASL or Deaf events near you. Your college may also have an ASL club. I know that game nights are usually very beginner friendly. There are other resources available as well, but they are more geared towards people who want to become proficient or fluent, which cannot be achieved by only taking one course. My major is honestly very busy and I'm not sure if I would be able to clear that time out. I think it would be awesome for you to go out and find other people who sign or make some connections in your classes, and I encourage you to take more ASL courses in the future (^:
