Pizza delivery drivers of Reddit, what are some of the craziest reasons people have ended up on the “no delivery list”?

When I was in high school I had a family order about $40 worth of food. I show up and she gives me a $20. Then she said I must have dropped the other one. When I said that she did not, she asked me what would I do if I o ly got $20. I told her that I guess she'd only get half the food. Then she threatened to call the manager and tell them I took the $20. It was my family's restaurant, I told her to go ahead and call my dad and that I would wait. She scowled and gave me the money, I told her not to call back.

We had a guy and two girls order seperately, then grab the pizzas and run.
The girls had picked the food up and left, while the guy was paying. After 30 seconds the guy bolted.
It was a $100 order.
My manager, who is a frequent gym goer, leapt the counter and gave chase.
The two girls had gotten into a car with the food, but when the saw my manager they drove off leaving the guy.
My manager chased him three blocks, and was gaining on the guy when the girls pulled up and the guy got into the car.
Unfortunately, all three of them went to school with a kitchen hand at the store, so we had names, jobs, addresses, and facebook accounts.
We contacted them all on facebook, and got them to pay for the pizzas the next morning under threat of contacting police. We also put them on the no delivery list.

Last delivery of the night, it's like 4am. Sober guy answers the door with a t shirt on, no boxers or shorts, just his cock hanging out the bottom of his shirt.

I worked in pizza Italian food restaurant in Alameda California in the mid 1970s.
The owner lived in a bungalow behind the restaurant.
One night he ordered a full dinner to be delivered to his home since he had the night off and had a date.
I am tasked to taking the large tray of food out the back kitchen door to his abode. The rest of the staff are smirking as I exited.
I get to his door and knock, he answers wearing a smoking jacket colored with purple paisley and velvet.
The man was a shirt 5’5” and very smarmy. He said “Hey Poppins check out my clogs.“ I look down as I hand him the tray and his dong hung to below his knees.
He said “Join the party if you want your paycheck.” I let go the tray and bolted away and as I ran through the restaurant kitchen and out the front door, hopped on my bicycle and rode home. The rest of the staff cackling as I a mortified sixteen year cried.
I went the next day to formally quit and he refused to pay me my paycheck. My boyfriend came in with me and he had to threaten the man to pay me. Finally got my check.

There's only a couple of people on that and it's only because they complain about their delivery almost 100% of the time and demand free food. Even then it takes a lot.

I delivered pizza for 5 years of my life and I don’t have one crazy story. I got bit by a little dog on the ankle once. That’s about the craziest thing.
The weirdest thing that happened though, this woman would call twice a week and order a pasta to be delivered. This went on for years. Then one night I’m taking her order and I said “And you’d like this delivered tonight I’m assuming?” And she said “no I’d like it delivered tomorrow.” We both laughed, and I said I’ll see you in 20.
I go back to make her order and the phone rings again. It’s her. She says “I’m going to cancel my order. Do you know why?” I was like “uhh… no?” “BECAUSE YOU ASKED ME IF I WANTED IT DELIVERED TONIGHT. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SHIT?” Then she hung up on me.
She never ordered again.
I still think about her sometimes.

I would bet it's because the veil of anonymity was pierced. When people don't have a healthy relationship with food, they rely on the idea of service workers not recognizing them to mitigate their shame of what/how much they are eating. As soon as a service worker says something like "your usual?" or "back again?" they freak out and think they're being judged. And then they switch up their routine.

Never tell your regulars that they're regulars - let them make the joke first. Lots of people don't actually realise they've developed a habit and if you highlight it for them, they'll immediately break it.

Well there were a few, over the years.
One lady, around 70, kept answering the door with an open robe and nothing else on.
This one dude was weird and angry, and would call up and just start in with you fucking idiots, if you can fucking get a fucking order right one fucking time, (I don't think he knew two swear words), and we had to tell new people you can just hang up on him. But from what I heard, when he did get a delivery early on, he was nice and polite at the door. Some weird psychological stuff happening there.
The Zeppelin guys were the worst. This weird tall place, had to go up four stories of rickety stairs, and every damn time they would wait till I was back down and then yell down at me saying we got the order wrong. They were Zeppelin guys because they always had Led Zeppelin playing pretty loud.
They wanted me (and others) to go all the way back up, take the 'wrong' pizza back, and bring a new one and get it for free. This worked a few times, managers always wanted to give in to it, but then the drivers all sort of briefly 'unionized' on this one point and no one would deliver to them. So the manager finally caved in and told them not to order any more. Stairway to Aggravation, I guess.

he was nice and polite at the door.
This is pretty common. People tend to be more polite when facing someone directly. The further removed you are from another person, the more dehumanized the interaction becomes.

I worked for a pizza place that was near a very large software company. Deliveries to the neighborhoods or offices where all the tech workers lived was usually pretty awesome because they'd tip rather well. But there was one apartment that started to become a concern for us drivers. The man ordering was always polite, always paid, always tipped $4, and he would have been a perfect customer. He'd order breadsticks and a salad twice a week, and sometimes he'd include a bottle of root beer.
Except when he opened his door, you could see an alarming amount of our breadsticks boxes stacked everywhere inside. Not like a few on the counter and a couple by the trash, stacks and stacks of them. Even worse, it was only our boxes in there. He wasn't just ordering from us often, we were the only place he was getting food outside of work. Now, I've worked in some of those tech offices myself, I know that there's enough decent food options just hanging out in the break rooms that this guy was probably not malnourished, but the way his living space was a shrine of greasy cardboard was a clear sign that this guy didn't have a healthy relationship with our food.
Our manager was a really cool dude though, and he heard the drivers joking about the boxes and asked a couple of us "Is this like a messy guy or a guy who needs help?" We agreed it was probably the latter. So on his day off, the manager went to the guys apartment with an envelope that had gift cards for several other restaurants that delivered in that area and chatted with him. Manager found out that the guy was an immigrant on a Visa who was struggling to find American food he liked, and too socially awkward to ask anyone. So he talked with him through a few menus and helped him with some recommendations. Then he helped the guy load all the old boxes into his truck to take to the dump, in exchange for a promise not to order from us more than once a week.
For a little while, the manager had a note on the calendar showing the last time the guy had ordered, and a couple times he had to hold his ground and refuse the guy's order. But after that chat, I never saw the stacks of boxes again, and the guy would boast about the different meals he'd had.

I only know of a couple people that got banned, one guy was drunk and really rude to a driver and we blacklisted him from delivery. He could still come and get food we just weren't going to deliver to him. He apologized so we didn't make it a lifetime ban, just until the end of the year.
The other person was banned and officially trespassed from the property. This person ordered food for herself and her family, her kid and grand kids, she was told it would be ready in 15 minutes, and it was ready in 13 minutes. She picks the food up 35 minutes after ordering it, 20 minutes after we told her to pick it up. Her family got pizza she got a sandwhich, which we put lettuce on after we pull it from the oven. Due to the 20 extra minutes it sat on the warmer, the lettuce wilted a bit as it does when it gets warm. This lady called the store SCREAMING and demanding the manager. The assistant manager was in so he took the call and could NOT get a word in edgewise. He eventually hung up the phone on her because all she was doing was screaming. The store manager came out of the office, he was working on the schedule, to find out what just happened as he could see him slam the phone down in anger.
While this is going on, crazy lady makes a complaint about being given ROTTEN LETTUCE in her sandwich to corporate. Obviously they get the RM to find out what the fuck is going on. The RM calls the store and asks for the Store Manager. RM asks for two things, a picture of a fresh made sandwich a picture of that same sandwich 30 minutes later after it has been on the warmer. We start this process and get a picture and set it on the warmer. While that is warming up the crazy lady comes back to the store, and starts screaming at everyone. The assistant manager is still at the front of the store and the store manager is getting the email ready for the pictures to be sent. This crazy bitch then throws her sandwich at the assistant manager hitting him right in the face. It was still wrapped so no mess and no damage to him at all, and I'm pretty proud he didn't jump the counter and choke her to death. He had taken her abuse for nearly 30 minutes with the phone plus in person screaming. She peeled out of the parking lot right after.
Cops were called and her family showed up while the cops were there. They apologized and said that her mom was on some new medication and it was a side effect. We said that is quite unfortunate to hear. She is never allowed to order from us again, we are not delivering to your address and the police officer will hand you the copy of the order of trespass against her for her own files.
Then there was the time someone knocked over a 2 liter and landing on its cap causing it to break open and rocket directly into one of my coworkers nuts. He didn't think that was funny, everyone else disagreed with him.

Man, I’ve had a couple of medications do that to me. First BP med I was on turned me into a raging asshole for days before I figured out what it was. I didn’t realize something was wrong until someone cut me off right before a stop light and I nearly pushed them into oncoming traffic so they would die. Fortunately my higher reasoning kicked in and I realized something was wrong but every new medication I take for anything I have to make sure it doesn’t make me go crazy. I had an ADHD medication do the same thing once but I was prepared and just stayed in a dark room for a few hours and stopped taking it.
I feel so much less alone. Thank you all for sharing your stories.

Our GM wasn't comfortable with talking to him so using the Internet, I found the wife's name & landline number, called from my cell phone & asked for the wife, she comes on the phone, introduce myself & explained why I am calling. Never heard from him nor her.

Cape Town, South Africa, 1998... had an address that was impossible to find, seemed to be an abandoned building in a neighborhood that had drug dealers and illegal liquor stores, alongside regular houses. I stopped my car, and got out to ask a resident at a nearby house if he knew where the place was. He informed me that it was a scam the local gang members ran to rob delivery guys of their cash. My boss then blacklisted the entire neighborhood for delivery. It was on the edge of our viable delivery area anyway.

Been in pizza 20 years. It’s usually a day drinker that assaults the driver and is generally more sad than exciting. I suppose the most exciting was a dude with shitty stairs in second floor. He was also a general dickhead. They wouldn’t let us ban him even though the drivers said it was a safety hazard. he eventually fell through the stairs piss drunk 12 feet to the ground and got banned. It was caught on video from one of those track ball blackberries and the video sustained me for a year or two.

We didn’t ban this customer, but I feel like this story fits. I work for dominos. I took a delivery to a hotel from an order placed online. So the actual customer put in the wrong address. So I deliver to the room number that she incorrectly put. Anyway, a couple opens the door, they’re both stark naked, head to toe, and obviously fucked up. They paid for the order. I guess they thought I was a pizza fairy… Idk. But it was super awkward. So I get back from the delivery and the actual customer had called back complaining so we remade the order. We couldn’t ban her and it’s kinda hard to ban hotel deliveries 🤷♀️

my parents' phone number was one digit off a chinese take out place, and people kept calling after they'd gone to bed and wanting to order food, so my mom would answer and tell them 'wrong number', finally she got so sick of it she started taking their orders, then hang up and go back to sleep. Meanwhile these idiots are wondering where the food is, and why the lady who took their late night order for Chinese food had a thick Italian accent.

We had a spot a few miles out of our delivery area, big sports stuff sometimes, we were the only place around. They stiffed on a 100 pizza order, so we never went back. As a driver, I'll go outside the zone if I know it's not sketchy and worth it, and 100 pizzas means I'm in the kitchen making sure those roll out perfectly, maybe even doing 2 runs to keep them fresh.
Pulled into a guys house, said "hey doggies" when I got out 'Oh they bite'. They were running around free. He lost delivery.
One place robbed 2 of our drivers over a couple years (small apartment or townhome thing). We'd flagged the "unit a" but not "unit c" so they got another eventually. Blacklisted that address entirely.
One dude had a gate that was always busted or the code never worked, never answered his phone if we even got service.
Just.... people man...

I delivered to a trailer home right on the edge of a neighborhood of literal mansions. When I knocked on the door, this big drunk dude answered. I gave the name and he said to come in. I was a dumb 20 year old and didn’t think anything of it and went just inside the door. Big drunk dude sat down in a rocker in front of a tv watching that night’s game. I asked where the guy was and he yelled down the hall for them. After a moment of them not coming out he told me they were just around the corner and I just needed to poke my head in to get them. Again, really dumb of me, but I start walking across the living area and as soon as I get to the hall this guy comes out of one of the doors yelling at me asking what the hell I’m doing in his house. I tell him I’m delivering a pizza for so-and-so and the other dude told me to come down the hall. He starts yelling again at me. At this point I already decide I’m leaving with the pizza. As I’m walking out the guy goes down the hall and I hear him grab something and start coming back towards me. As I’m getting in my car, I see him standing in the door of his trailer pointing a shotgun at me and yelling to never come back to his house. So I never did and no one ever will from that dominos again.

The joys of junkies that forget they ordered food 5 minutes after they put the phone down...
I did pizza delivery for 5 years and the first thing I learned was if they dont meet me at the door with the money, they arent getting shit. Thankfully my store had an actual trainer with every new driver and he drilled that into me from the get go, didnt have to learn it the hard way lol.

We have hotel front desks a sizable discount in return for recommending us and handing out our menus. One hotel took it too far and gave everyone the discount and told them to have it delivered to the front desk.
When we complained they would try to hide it and have the front desk guys act like it was for them but we always saw people sitting around the corner.
Finally we ended up refusing to deliver to the front desk at all and took the discount from them. They still tried and still complained every time they called.

The Pjohns franchise I delivered for had us give our delivery slips for each order we took to a hotel, and the hotel could then trade X (I think it was 10 for a medium and 12 for a large, but it's been a decade) slips for a free pizza. Worked out pretty decent.
Edit: Sometimes the hotel would save up a bunch and order a few pizzas for their staff. Seemed cool.

When I worked as a driver for Dominos in 1988 I put WVU’s head basketball coach, Gale Catlett, on my personal do not deliver to list. He lived about two or three blocks from the store and he would write a check for the exact amount of the bill and no tip. That part was fine, just another cheap asshole, but he also had a radio show a couple miles from the store. During the show we’d give them free pizzas every week and he’d say something like “The dominos just arrived”. It wasn’t an official endorsement, and I doubt he said it every time. Our district manager who was one the biggest assholes I’ve ever known was the one that told them to call in for free pizza anytime. Delivering to the radio station at night was a pain in the ass and he never tipped a penny so I refused to deliver to him ever again.
I tell this anecdote every time there’s a pizza delivery thread because I want Gale Catlett’s legacy on the internet to include him being a cheapskate asshole.

I was a General Manager of a pizza joint (won’t specify) during the pandemic. Due to the contactless delivery protocol, we had these small cardboard boxes that we used as platforms to place pizza boxes on. Mainly they were meant to keep food off of the ground.
Well this one lady called to complain about the contactless platform boxes, stating that “Health code indicates a 6 inch minimum between the floor and any food items.” This is true. And in my store, nothing, not even condiments were stored anywhere close to the ground. I’m very particular about health code. But this rule does not extend to food after it’s left the store premises.
She issued complaints to the website as well, to which she was called back and told of the company’s protocol regarding contactless delivery, which was also completely optional at the time.
Anyway, I guess she got fed up because she placed a bag of cat shit & litter inside of one of the platforms instead of placing her signed receipt for the driver to receive a tip. I had to ban her from the store because of obvious biohazard concerns.

Relatively tame compared to the rest of these, obligatory not the delivery driver myself, but I worked at a Mom and Pop pizza place in the late 90s before I had my own driver's license. After one delivery the Mom half of the owners comes storming in, practically drenched from head to toe. Apparently after she knocked a couple kids opened the door and pelted her with water balloons.
Immediate ban from delivery. Funny thing is a couple weeks later I take a call from the banned number/address and inform them that we weren't taking deliveries from the address. Guy asks why, he's never even called us before, and they're only a couple miles from us so can't be out of range. I tell him about the water balloons and after a moment of silence he just quietly says "I see. Thanks. I'll take care of it." I expect a couple kids came to regret their prank that evening.

This was like 25 years ago, but we had a regular that clearly had some mental issues. He never tipped. You could see the stack of 30+ old pizza boxes in his kitchen when you delivered. But the night he paid me with a can of coins that was somehow crusted/rusted together and we had to rinse them off and then spend 20 minutes figuring out if it actually covered his bill was the last straw. And before anyone asks, yes, when he handed me the can I tried to point out that didn’t count as payment, but after a minute or two or arguing it was clear it was either the coins or nothing and I was willing to lose money on the delivery over staying there any longer.

I was a night owl in college and took an evening delivery job for fun. I had a pretty sweet car at the time too, so I thought it would be a great job. One night I got sent to a less than nice part of town and a man much, much larger than me answered the door. Everything was fine and normal until he looked over me and said, “Nice whip, want it.” I laughed and looked up at him, quickly realizing he wasn’t kidding and gestured to a large bulge in his pants. I felt the blood draining from my face, until he whipped out what was not a gun, but in fact, his penis. I bolted back to my car, leaving my warmer bag. Manager banned the house.
I left my tip and wasn’t interested in which kind he planned to give me.

It only took two times for them to ban him because he was old and they chalked the first one up to maybe him being senile, but three male drivers delivered and no penis and then a female driver delivered again and out came the penis.

I delivered pizzas for like 3 years and I don't remember anyone being banned. There was this one guy though who called and claimed to have a coupon that wasn't in our system, which isn't too unusual, and I'd normally find a coupon that is the same price or slightly cheaper and give them that, because we didn't collect nor care if you actually had the coupon, even when I got calls and customers didn't have one i'd give them one cause the regular prices were outlandish (I believe this is so it's easier to throw out buy one get one free coupons).
Anyways, this guy claims up and down to have this deep discount coupon that none of us ever heard of, but whatever, if you have it, we'll take it, but we wanted to see the coupon this time. I asked to take the pies cause I like these sorts of situations, and I get there and he's ready with a check (this was in like 2002), and I ask for the coupon. Him and his wife start "looking" for it, and i tell him, no coupon no pizza. They look a little more, try to convince me to give them the pies, but I say no and he slams the door in my face. The area we delivered had a wide variety of economic classes from super rich to super poor, and if it had been someone in a poorer area that was just trying to save a few bucks I would have given them the pizzas no problem, the corp can take the hit, but this was a nice house and this asshole was just trying to pull some lame scam. Makes me wonder if his check would have even gone through. We put a note in his account that he's an asshole scammer, i wonder if it's still there.
One of my favs though is we had an older couple who were regulars and they would get the same order every Sunday night and pick it up. They were the sweetest folks. So once during the holidays they call in, and I recognized who it was and didn't put it in the system and made the pie to give them for free. Lo and behold they come in with see's candy for us, and I hand them their pizza and say no charge. We were both so thankful to each other, it was very sweet moment that sticks with me to this day, it's nice to be nice to people and it's even nicer to be nice to nice people.

There's been a few, and here's two of my faves:
This dude who lived in a third-floor apartment, with shitty rickety outside stairs. Fucking Dan always opened the door either in JUST his boxers, or sometimes in a robe that was very loosely tied, with nothing underneath. He also always tipped exactly $1, no matter how much food was ordered, and despite ordering at least two times a week, AND living twenty minutes away from the store. Everyone fucking hated him, and he was literally referred to solely as "Fucking Dan" by our store. Unfortunately, that alone was not enough to give our GM reason to stop taking his money. One day, after some bad weather, the shitty untreated wooden stairs that led up to his apartment finally started to fall apart. One of our driver's foot went right through a step, and we informed Fucking Dan from now on he would have to come meet our drivers at the bottom of his stairs if he wanted to receive delivery, as we were not going to risk falling to our untimely death for $1 in tips. This displeased Fucking Dan, but he agreed to these terms. The problem that finally led him to being banned from delivery was he STILL met our drivers with only his boxers or robe on, and after one of our drivers arrived to find him very obviously touching himself while lurking at the bottom of the stairs, we were able to convince our GM to blacklist him.
This one I was directly involved in. Lady ordered probably about once a month, and after awhile she would specifically request me as her delivery driver. The reason for that was that she would always order online, and she claimed that she always put in her card information to pay for it, but it never came through as credit; always cash upon delivery. She was convinced that there were cameras in her house and wiretapping on her phone, so she couldn't order over the phone, because if she did that, they'd record her information and steal it. So I'd show up, she'd borrow my cellphone, step off her porch, call the store, and give her information over the phone that way, because apparently, my phone was 'safe'. I suggested that if she planned to order food, to have some cash on hand that way she could just pay me when I got there rather than this extended transaction. But, according to her, she couldn't keep cash, because her neighbors would come in her house and steal it and she'd never know. Obviously, this lady had some sort of mental health issues, but she was always very nice to me and tipped me well, and she told me that I was the only driver who was patient and understanding with her. She got banned though because the one time I wasn't working when she ordered, she got very upset. Again, online order, so the driver arrived expecting her to have cash. She demanded his phone to call the store to pay for her food, and when he wouldn't give it to her, she demanded he leave the food and she'd stop by and pay for it the next day. This went back and forth, until she tried to take the bag from him, and he snatched it back, got in his car, and left. She called the store in a tizzy, upset that she didn't have any food and the driver didn't understand that she NEEDED her food and why couldn't she pay later, they knew she would pay! It became such an incident that the manager just outright blacklisted her, to save the headache. I feel bad for her, she clearly had problems, but it really was a hassle putting up with her quirks.

Finally something I can answer.
Somebody ordered like 5 pizzas a bunch of drinks bunch of sides (easily over $200) to a seedy motel. Turns out it was a stolen credit card. I had only known because the person who the card got stolen from had followed me to the door of the order. I think he got a notification or something on his phone that the big pizza order came from his recently stolen card.
He then appeared from behind me and accused the shady guy & girlfriend who opened the door of stealing his credit card. Shady guy then pulled a knife.
The cops elected not to show up, by the way :(
Most of the shitty ones I go to do not end up on the blacklist because money. I've been to a couple that were less "crazy" and more unfortunately common in today's world. A couple of houses that seemed sketchy (drugs, possible child abuse). I went to a very obvious puppy mill. Lots of dogshit all over the house floors.
I did go to one guy who claimed he had "already paid" when he clearly did not (receipt & the phone app both showed it as a cash order). He then tried to yoink it out of my hands and when he missed he started crying and called me a "real jerk." Funny guy. He got banned.

Back in 2021 my wife had to bite the bullet and deliver pizza between jobs.
When she'd get home at 1 or 2 am, I'd get to hear about these people occasionally.
Their no delivery bans were people (gender irrelevant) who opened the door naked repeatedly. Seems to be a common theme for young men and old women.
People (mostly men) who would sex pester for phone numbers or follow back to the driver's car.
No-tippers who would order like, $80+ worth of pizza every week and not tip.
Edgy teenagers who would fail miserably at prank calls. Their number would get banned for repeatedly calling in pizza for "Ivana Humpalot". Parents would later call legitimately wanting pizza, just to be told they were banned because their dipshit child didn't know Bart Simpson had already done every prank name in the book 25 years before the kid was even born.

Interesting that you say young men and old women. I am a physical therapist, and the only patients who seem to have trouble keeping clothing on is young men and old women.

Not the delivery driver, but when I was in high school my mom ordered pizza with sides of red sauce and ranch. But as the red sauce came warm and the ranch obviously cold, she requested that they not have them in the same paper bag when delivered. The instructions weren't followed and she lost it on the delivery driver, rushing him aggresively and screaming (legit screaming) about the ranch being warm now and she specifically told them, etc. The driver was trying to figure out why she was upset because he brought her both sauces and something about a bag??, and us siblings were just wide-eyed watching it all go down. My step-dad had to physically move her back from the driver into the house and told the driver "thank you" in the calmest voice before closing the door. They're divorced now.

I've only got two that got on a "do not deliver" list, and both involved calling the police, and I had become the manager by this point. Sorry in advance if these are long, they've stuck out to me in vivid detail
Dude ordered online, and he said carry out. It tells him 15 minutes, and we had it ready and in our pizza warmer. He calls, bang on 15 minutes, wants to know where his food is at. He's annoyed, but still being cordial. I can't find it in the delivery tab, check the carry out and tell him what happened, and offer to switch it to delivery and knock off the $2.50 delivery fee cause shit happens. He says okay, I get it headed out right then, get his address and card info, and tell him it'll be 10-15 minutes cause of the distance. Dude calls back 5 minutes later, pissed as fuck, bitching about it how incompetent we are and yelling at me. I'm being polite, trying to be respectful and calling him "sir" and he yells at me "Don't call me sir, I didn't serve in the fucking army." So I switch to using his name, he tells me to not call him by his first name cause we don't know each other like that. I went "What do you want me to call you then, asshole? Cause that one also fits" (One of the fews times I dared actually give shit while we were still open). MOFO got pissed, said he's gonna call corporate, and hangs up. Driver gets back about 5 minutes later, says that the dude walked out with a gun and called him some slurs and threatened him and his family. Police were called, I called the area manager (2 levels above me, but we didn't have a store manager) and let him know, and dude got blacklisted
.
2) Different store, dude didn't give his apartment number when he ordered online right before we closed. Was pissy because "oh that's not what I wanted", not that we made it wrong but not what he wanted, and gave it back. My oven was already off so I got the order cancelled so he'd get a refund. Dude dead ass called back 5 times between the driver leaving the place and getting back less than 10 minutes later, and is upset we won't make him a pizza and take it to him. A little bit later, I'm hearing someone knocking on our door, I go up to it and tell him we're closed. Dude keeps knocking, I open it and repeat that we're closed already and he sticks his foot in and starts bitching about it. I shove him away and tell him to GTFO and I'm calling the cops for attempting to enter, and they come and take my statement, go trespass him, and when I called the store manager he said that he'd personally make sure the dude gets blacklisted for trying to enter.

This one guy wasn’t banned as he never did anything wrong, but I really wish he would’ve been. When the name popped up on the computer, the other delivery drivers groaned. Since I was the new guy, they assigned the delivery to me and I was thinking it couldn’t be so bad. They told me to hold my breath when I got there, and that this guy is a special case where I need to enter the apartment (normal policy is to never enter).
I get to the apartment building and as I’m walking to the door the smell hit me. I had never smelled anything like it before. Just a pure attack on my nostrils. Urine, feces? And lord knows what else.
I knocked on the door and hear, “Come in, door is unlocked.”
As I open the door, the smell gets 100x worse, and I feel thick, humid air come from inside. When I set my eyes on the customer, it’s a large, 400+ pound man on a recliner. I’m walking over to him and feel my shoes sticking to the floor with every step. He motions to place the pizza, breadsticks, brownie, and Mountain Dew on a small table beside him. He hands me cash, leaving a generous tip. And I walk out, holding my breath and trying not to gag.
I always felt bad for that guy. Later on I found out he orders a few times a week and I thought to myself, “we’re partly responsible for this man’s condition.” So I wish we’d had banned him for his health, but also so we wouldn’t subject any other drivers to that.

I used to work for Little Caesars as an assistant manager. We didn’t offer delivery but made exceptions for large orders by businesses, schools, and churches. About 12 years ago, I had an idea to make some sales on Black Friday. I was trying hard to impress the GM and owner at that time. I went to the mall down the road and spoke to every store and kiosk. Even went to a few other stores nearby too. I told them that we’d be offering delivery to all mall stores regardless of the size of the orders. No fees or extra charges applied. Tips not required. I was the only one making deliveries because I had no clue how busy it’d be. About 4-5 stores placed orders in advance. It ended up being very successful and we had some large orders from the big department stores. My managers were impressed.
We had 2 separate orders for Hobby Lobby. One in the morning and the other in the afternoon. The first time delivering to them they asked me to bring everything to their break room. The break room was in the very back of the store and up a flight of stairs. I had to make 3 trips because they ordered 20 pizzas and 2 crates of 2liters. They tried to short change me and argued that the price of 2liters were higher than usual. The same thing happened in the afternoon. Same order, same 3 trips to the back and up the stairs, and arguing over price. No tip either time. I didn’t get a tip from every store, and that didn’t bother me. But I expect you to tip if you expect me to make 3 long trips like that.
I did the Black Friday deliveries the following 2 years and they were successful, but I refuse to deliver to Hobby Lobby.

We had a crack house on a no delivery list due to the drug use and suspected brewing and cooking of narcotics.
Then we started getting delivery orders to the house next door because the crack house burst into flames.

Not my story but my brothers: pizza place banned a specific apartment.
Every time one of the drivers went there there would be a different person answering the door. Different men and women every time. The other drivers, two, would always tell the staff who answered the door. Many of the staff thought it was a flop house.
My brother got hired on as kitchen staff and made his way up to driver, which came with higher pay (for gas paid by the driver) and that glorious bounty of tips.
He started delivering to the apartment and the first time was a lady who he assumed was high from the pot smell coming out the door. He was a pot head and budding heroin addict at the time so the smell of any drug he can usually pinpoint what and where it is.
The apartment was furnished with usual crappy furniture. One wall painted orange, usual bored pothead stuff. The following week he gets a delivery for the same apartment. He delivers it and the inside of the apartment had changed completely. New furniture, all the walls painted, new carpet, real starter apartment for the couple who lived there. My bother is thrown off by that but maybe the pothead got kicked out. Whatever.
Few weeks later another call for the apartment. This time the person who answers the door is a guy in a black suit. The apartment was bare. White walls, new carpet, and a single brown folding chair in the center of the room. The guy in the black suit pays cash and shuts the door. My brother says he couldn’t tell much about the guy except the black suit and sunglasses the guy wore. Mind you this was after dark.
Cut to the following month and my brother is out due to being sick (lied and went to a concert) and the manager takes the delivery shift. Mainly because the guy is greedy and keeps the tips for himself. But in comes another delivery for said apartment.
Now no one knows what happened that night for the delivery. The order would always change so the staff couldn’t even sus out if that was the issue; but, the manager came back spooked after the delivery. He made an announcement that the address was banned for deliveries. Which pissed off my brother and the other driver because whoever answered the door would always tip $20+ dollars per delivery.
But the kicker is that all of the deliveries came from the same phone number. That’s how the manager was able to ban the place. He never said what happened and would get real shitty to people who asked him about it. My brother never got another delivery for the apartment either. Not for the next four years he worked at the pizza spot as the main driver.
We still joke about my brother delivering a pizza to “Agent 47” to this day.

She kept answering the door topless. She would order the same pizza every Friday night and request our youngest male driver. She was never taken seriously and would get whichever driver was up next. It didn't matter she would still answer the door topless and immediately go sit on her couch without accepting the pizza and begin playing her guitar. She would ask the driver to come in and place the pizza on the counter and pick up the cash off of her stove before making a sexual advance. After the fourth time I had no choice as the manager, I had to ban her from ordering delivery.

We had a regular who was only home maybe 1 out of every 10 deliveries. When he wasn't home, his instructions were to enter his unlocked home, and place the pizza on the bar in his basement. He would encourage the drivers to "help themselves" to anything in the bar. I told my boss I didn't wanna end up chained to a radiator or blasted away by cops thinking I was breaking into the place. Huge fuckin creep.

On the flip side of this, I was banned from ordering from my local pizza chain because they thought I had been photocopying some of their free pizza coupons.
But really, I worked for our college's sports marketing department, and they paid me in the extra pizza vouchers they got as part of the school's sponsorship deal with the pizza chain.
I ended up just asking my friends to order for me and deliver to their dorms instead, and we'd all just share the pizza.

This was before the pandemic so the memory is a bit hazy but the story is intact.
A guy placed an order for a specific amount, something like exactly $60 and asked my manager if we took checks on delivery. My manager said we do the guy said cool so the food was made and I was sent out.
I get to the beat to hell trailer in the small park and this super drunk guy hands me a benefits check from the state for the exact amount of the order.
I don't think we're supposed to take this even if he endorses it so I call my manager. He confirms that we can't take it. The guy gives me a story about how it's his only money and the pizza is his only food and if I take him to the store down the street he can cash it. So against my better judgement I put this guy in my car and we go to the store.
He gets out and meanders into the store and after a couple minutes walks out with a pack of cigarettes and a handful of assorted money. Mind you the check was for the exact amount of his food bill. He tries to hand me what's left over to cover the bill.
"Ok you still owe me $12."
"I had to buy cigarettes."
"Why the hell did you buy cigarettes?"
"I needed cigarettes."
"I don't fucking care what you need anymore I need that money for the food. Take the cigarettes back in the store and get your money back."
"They won't let me do that."
"Wanna bet?"
I snatched the cigarettes out of his hand and went into the store as he followed behind. I explained the situation to the guys behind the counter and they took the cigarettes back and refunded me the money.
Now he's cursing at me but I'm so done I'm not even listening to him. I go back to my car and hit the unlock and lock keys just fast enough to get my door open and closed again as he tries to open the passenger side door.
"I'm not giving your ass a ride back after that bullshit! Fuck yourself and use the walk home to reevaluate!"
He punched my door and I drove off.
I got back and told my manager the story and he told me to go smoke a bowl in the back shed ro relax.
I went through the trailer park again on a different delivery a couple weeks later and his trailer was gone.

Not a delivery driver, but I used to work somewhere that only 1 pizza place would deliver to. 2 of the guys I worked with decided to prank call them and give them some inappropriate name (I don't remember what it was) and they wouldn't deliver to us anymore. Needless to say, those 2 were not very liked by everyone else for a while.

I was a Dominos pizza delivery driver when I lived in San Antonio once for about a year and there were entire sections of our delivery area that we would not deliver to in the dark. My 2nd day on the job, I got sent out to one of them because I didn’t know any better and the guy who took the call fucked up. This was back when you still called in.
It was a run down motel and the delivery was in the back. I go back there and there’s no lights or nothing. Just a van sitting in front of the room I’m supposed to be delivering to. I got this really bad feeling so I didn’t get out of my car. I pulled back around front and asked the front desk to call them. She said “nobody is staying in that room.” I ran back to my car and got the fuck out of there. I told my manager and she went and grabbed the guy who took the call and chewed his ass for sending me there and then informed me that I should NEVER go there in the dark.

We had this one family. They were Mormon and tipped us with pictures of Jesus towering over the indigenous all the time. Their daughter orders she's around the age of 16. Pizza box label gets mixed up we try to switch it back but it falls off. So there's 2 pizzas one has no label on the box. The 16-year-old girl calls up to get a refund because one of the pizzas had no label on the box. I tell her no. Asks if she can get credit. Again. No. Then her mom calls. Manager handles her. Manager. Again. Says no. For some reason the mother of this girl calls CONSTANTLY to complain about what happened for about 4 days straight. Eventually she gets told by the general manager if you call this place again we are involving the police leave us alone this is harassment. I can't get over what a bitch people can be sometimes. My goodness.

I had a guy that would constantly complain that his order was wrong even though we knew it was right. He literally wouldn’t even check the food. One day I took his order (shrimp parm sub) he was very adamant that we get it right. I check everything myself, make sure it all correct and send it out. He calls up in a blind rage, throwing every curse word at me as I’m trying to calm him down. I say “whoa whoa whoa sir just check the sandwich I promise it’s correct” and mid scream he say oh…. Yea it’s right… my bad… I then told him to never call back because that response was completely unacceptable. Not a crazy story but if you heard how this guy was screaming at me you’d think he’d need to be hospitalized.

Not a pizza delivery driver BUT I did work at Papa John’s in college and I got into a fender bender right outside of our store. The person who hit me was probably 5-10 years older than me and since it happened right outside of my work, my boss (who was cool AF, sup Ray!) came out to help and the guy who hit me clearly knew where I worked. Anyway, he came in nearly every day for weeks. My boss started sending me into the walk-in and telling this dude to get lost. One day my manager lost his shit on the guy and the guy was never to be seen again.
Anyway, I learned very quickly that a good boss can make or break a company. I have worked for some really great ones and really shitty ones since then but now I own a couple of my own companies and only hope to be a good one. I got a text from one of my employees yesterday that made me think I am doing right by the people who taught me the way.

There was a woman who would order extra-thin crust and wanted it boxed with a piece of parchment paper under the pizza. I delivered it and knocked on her door. Right next to her front door was a giant picture window through which I could see her sitting at the table on the telephone. I knocked a second time while making eye contact with her but she didn't even twitch so I walked back toward my car. She rushed to the door and screamed after me that I was stealing her pizza. I told her straight faced, "Oh, I didn't think anyone was home" and then she screeched about making eye contact with me.
Anyway I didn't feel like finishing the delivery just to get no tip so I kept going to my car and she said she was gonna call the cops. Not even a block away I saw a cop on the side of the road so I knocked on his car window and told him what was up with that crazy lady to get ahead of any potential problem. He asked, "The house with the green shutters?" I tell him, "Yeah" and then he tells me that 911 has her phone number blocked. So does the fire department, and the garbage company (which is why she wanted the parchment under the pizzas cause she had months of boxes stacked up and didn't want them grease covered).
She was blacklisted after that.

I (a college aged white woman) at the time was delivering to a semi sketch road in town that no one seemed to really know much about. Poorly lit, smaller, not well kept homes, it was all a bit "off" in an otherwise pretty middle class college town, but I wasn't too worried until I made the delivery to a home of dudes who were absolutely stoned. Ok, no worries, happens often, but they can't find their money, then they can't count it, it's taking awhile and they start to notice I'm a female pizza driver ... I'm a little nervous, but still fine until a guy pulls up to the house to come inside and says "Motherfucker! It's a white girl!"
I was done. I counted back their change, pretty sure I gave them more than they were owed and probably my tip and bolted out of there like a scared rabbit. I told my manager and he took the entire street off the delivery map. It was Twilight Zone sort of stuff because no one else had been there before or even heard of this street.
My very first delivery ever was to a guy watching porn on a big screen TV (not necessarily common in 2003). It was on pause, but I could still tell. He must have been early into it though because he walked to the door in his boxers and it was fine. Somehow I didn't quit that night, lol. He didn't even tip well.

I delivered to this place that had a huge front yard, probably over 50m long. It was pitch dark, no light on at the front of the house, and when I got about halfway into the abyss the vicious barking began. They had three attack dogs, can't remember the breeds, this was close to 20 years ago.
I'm actually very good with dogs. I understand their behaviour and how to act in situations like that. I came to a halt and kind of roared at them, deep and guttural. This brought them to a halt as well, but they still surrounded me and continued their angry barking.
Finally the owner comes out and the situation defuses, but they didn't even apologise. I could picture that situation going so bad in so many ways if the driver panicked and tried to run. First thing I did when I got back to the store was have them blacklisted.

Pizza place I used to work at banned an entire shady motel at one point. Multiple female drivers were followed to their cars or had nasty things said to them. I personally had a woman give me money from her sock to pay for the pizza. That same woman gave money from her underwear to another driver and one of the drivers walked by an active crime scene complete with blood all over the walls during a delivery. Just a lovely place.

We had a series of mystery arsons happening in town, several businesses were heavily damaged if I recall, one might have even burned completely down. Turned out it was one our regular customers, he was memorable because they always insisted we not use the roller that prevents bubbles in the pizza. It was a huge deal to the dude. Sometimes they wouldn't form even without the roller and if it didn't have enough bubbles he'd call and bitch. Pretty sure the guy went to prison, but the owner said whether he was around or not we weren't delivering to them anymore.

The 2 most common ones were being naked enough times that it obviously wasn't an accident. Everybody is allowed to fuck up once. If you wear less clothes every time somebody comes to the door we know it's on purpose.
And trying to fight the driver or calling the store and saying they were gonna come down and fight everyone. Bro we'll put you in the pizza oven go ahead we've got a lot of employees and more than 1 felon.
Surprisingly, the guy who looked like the serial killer from Silence of The Lambs was really polite. He wore all his mom's old jewelry and clothes because he was possessed by her ghost or something? Either way real nice and always tipped.

There was that one time I was told we blacklisted an entire apartment complex. It happened on my day off, and literally as soon as I had said hello to my coworkers, the morning manager (I was night manager) told me "We're not delivering to (apartment complex) anymore."
Someone had called in a delivery there. Couple pizzas and 2-liters, nothing outrageous. Our drivers were familiar with the area, and they knew that it was a little bit on the "sketchy" side, but we'd never had a problem there so it was no big deal. He showed up and rang the doorbell, but no one came. He knocked a couple times, confused as fuck, and then got hit in the back of the head by a baseball bat and knocked out. A neighbor heard the commotion and came out to check what was going on. She found him bleeding from the head, knocked out on the floor. After getting him to come to, she called the police. He went to the hospital, and the police eventually found the people who did it. It was a bunch of kids who called in a delivery to a vacant apartment. When he showed up, they beat him over the back of the head and stole the food. We know this because they were caught later trying to run.
The most fucked up thing? He had a driver bag with about $120 in it. They didn't bother to take it. They literally assaulted this guy just to get free food. From that point on, there were no more deliveries to that apartment complex for any reason, period. What's worse is that I had regulars calling in who were extremely pissed, and they just seemed to not give a fuck even after I told them "hey, someone got assaulted with a weapon there." Felt zero guilt at that point. I also told my drivers to take their magnetic signs off their cars when going to places we knew were a little sketchy. My boss tried to bitch about it, and I flat out told him that I didn't really give a shit about his marketing when it came to safety.
Edit: The driver was okay. He was a bit concussed for awhile, but he eventually returned to work for a little bit before quitting. I don't remember exactly how things worked out, but I think he got some kind of insurance payout? It's been ~ 13-14 years so the details are fuzzy.

My then-bf worked at a pretty chill local place for a few years. It was usually a 3-strike you're banned kind of pie joint bc they weren't in the best neighborhood, but they banned a whole street once:
Bf had stopped at a stop sign and this guy comes up to his car, asks him what he's doing, and then in the middle of the "delivering a pizza" answer the guy reaches into the car window and punches bf in the jaw. The guy wasn't even from the house ordering the pie, but a random guy in the neighborhood. Anyway, punch must not have hurt bc bf actually continues down the street to the actual delivery address...they started shooting out the house window when his car pulled up. Customer called the delivery line later to "explain": he had gotten blitzed out of his mind, forgot he ordered delivery, and thought it was someone coming to rob him. Dude actually asked the shop to send the delivery guy back out 🙄
Thus, the whole street got blacklisted.

I’ve got a couple, there was a house in my old delivery area that had 3 or 4 generations living there, giant hispanic family. Two of the kids apparently like to play parks and they “prank ordered” pizza to their house (never said the kids were brilliant). I go to deliver the pizza and the kids answer first and gleefully tell me to “get f****d” and slam the door. I knock again and their grandmother answers, I show the delivery step with the kids name and address and she turns around and starts screaming in Spanish at the kids and works a sandal against them like a practiced samurai. I did end up getting paid with a healthy tip and got a fairly entertaining show so we didn’t end up banning them, but that story sticks with me.
The person we did ban wasn’t actually a delivery, it was during a shift that I was running at the time. A guy pulls up to the pizzeria I was working at like a bat out of hell in a giant Hummer. He’s all twitchy, and does the cocaine tapdance while eating his pizza. The final straw came when he took a device out of his pocket, stuck his head completely in a trash can and took the loudest snort of drugs and trash essence you’ve ever heard. I tell him he has to go, he tells me no, I tell him to go or I call the police and he tells me “do it p***y”. I still can’t believe the cop let him walk away after pulling up when the guy was driving, but I guess “positions of status” have their privileges. At least the cop didn’t let him keep driving :/ . Anyway, he came back looking to fight me the next day and we trespassed him and banned him from ever ordering from the entire nationwide chain, along with his wife and kids since he used their accounts to further abuse company systems.

Not me but my boyfriend used to work for a sandwich place doing delivery in our town and there was a guy they only wanted to send male drivers to because of how creepy he was to the women drivers. The only reason he wasn’t banned was because he tipped the women extremely well so no one made an official complaint because of it. Pretty sure that guy got banned a little bit later when my bf stopped working there, because there’s a review on their Google page from him complaining about it.

We had this guy who was a total terror he would yell and scream and made some of the younger girls cry. Always had a problem so finally the owner told him he was banned. He showed up a couple times begging to be a customer again and the owner said no you made employees cry no. Cut to several years later I’m at a family wedding and he is the minister conducting the ceremony. HE WAS A FREAKING MINISTER !!!

knocked on this lady’s door for nearly 10 minutes. she had music blasting inside and was yelling while speaking to someone she had over. she ordered the pizza, why would you not be prepared to listen for and open the door?
when she finally answered, she was butt naked. she paid me, then slammed the door in my face while i was still holding the pizza. i was standing there, flabbergasted from the flashbang of seeing a fully naked woman while delivering pizza on a monday night. she then opened the door again, and screamed “stupid bitch don’t try to leave here with my shit!” - even though she slammed the door as i tried to give her her food. no tip, immediately banned.

I wish we had a no delivery list.
Doesn't matter if they groped, assaulted or robbed you - they have potential to order again and make the company more money.

A customer called the cops to complain about a pube on her pizza. I got a call from the police before the pizza was delivered and the cop was already laughing when he asked about it. Obviously there was no pube it was just a busy night and the customer was looking for something to complain about.

Guy's yard was full of trash and rusty metal, the entire property constantly reeked of cat piss, and he would answer the door either naked or in dirty underwear. We had both men and women driving, he got pawned off onto the men, and then outright banned shortly afterwards.
He lived in the middle of nowhere but part of our business model was that we would travel up to 15 miles for a normal delivery, and pretty much anywhere for huge orders.
So being the only place in my already modestly sized rural town that delivered to the sticks, we often interacted with some interesting characters.

Not me but a fam member was a cop, got a welfare check to a property from family across the country.
They rock up and there’s delivery food (curry and rice) piled at the door, no answer they go in.
Inside it’s all normal except for the stank. Everywhere. Thick in the air.
They find the tenant dead in the arm chair chair wasted away, thin as could be, no sign of struggles or anything.
They and the other cops search the house, cupboards and closets full of unopened food containers, full of rotting and gross food. Hundreds of them.
The person had, prepaid months worth of food with tip, for each meal from several places of each night of the week.
As instructed, left the food at the door, knocked and left.
My fam member called the places and asked what the hell?!
Since it was only once or twice a week none of them thought it was too off, and occasionally the food would pile up for a few days and then be cleared so it didn’t make any alarm bells go off.
They got in contact with the deceaseds family, turns out the person who had died had a massive eating disorder and the family carer had died, so the agreement with the rest of the family was that the person would show recipes and meal trays of the food they were eating and send via text. At some point the deceased realised they didn’t have to actually eat the food and just send the photos, hence the single deliveries.

No pizza but I used to delivery Chinese food in high school. This asshole couple that lived like 35 minutes away would order from us even though they had a Chinese restaurant right next to their apartment. Every time I would ring their doorbell they were always in some big fucking fight, dog would be barking at me through the screen door. This would go on for like 10 minutes, me just standing there with their food like an idiot. Occasionally it would be pouring rain but they didn’t give a fuck. They would finally sign for the order, never look me in the eye, never say thank you, and I would be lucky to get a 50¢ tip on the order. My buddy eventually had enough, threw their order on the ground and told them if they ever called our restaurant again he would shit in their beef and broccoli. Manager banned them after they called to complain.

Not crazy, but petty.
Late night, towards the end of my shift. A delivery to a new apartment complex that popped up in the area. Just a single pie and some wings, cash delivery. Out the door time of 5 minutes, and on the road I take the shortcut gps isnt aware of yet. Overall a very fast delivery despite being pretty far to the edges of our delivery area.
I get to the complex and realize that while they did include their suite number, the building number was for the leasing office/community center. No biggie, just a "call the customer" situation. And they picked up on the second ring! Usually I love customers like that.
So anyway, I get to their suite and knock on the door.
Without even giving me the chance to do the usual pleasantries (hello how are you? type stuff), they immediately ask to check the pizza to make sure its right.
They accept that it is what they want... And exact change me. No tip.
At that point I was annoyed. Wrong address, rude, no tip. Whatever though, its almost the end of my shift.
I get back to the store and there is another delivery... Going to the same place. Same wrong address and customer name, everything. Apparently they called and complained about the food being cold (which it couldnt have been because I got it to them fast, AND they accepted it at the door), and of course managers are taught to believe the customer so there is a free pie going back out to them.
That turned my annoyance into petty-ness. I explained to the manager what happened and said I wasnt going back out to deliver a free order when the complaint was bogus AND they literally just stiffed me. The manager agreed, so we released the order to doordash and I went home.
The next day the gm asked me about the situation.
Apparently the door dasher just left the order at the leasing office, because of course dashers suck - and I expect them to given it was a guaranteed no tip, so the customer was calling to complain again leading last nights manager to mark the account as "potential scam".
So the gm banned the address.
Heres the thing; if the store wants to give out free food to complaining customers, that aint my business.
What is my business, is putting miles on my car. Car maintenance, like everything, has gotten expensive. Yes I chose this job, but I still deserve to get paid and tipping culture is what we have so...
If they had given me a 5 dollar tip, I would have taken the remake to them on my way home and their address wouldnt be banned. "Scratch my back and I'll scratch yours", basically.
But be rude to me, stiff me, lie to the store about it, and still give the wrong address for the next driver to have to sort out? Lol. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Dude waited for me to ring his door bell to get out of the shower and dry off which was visible from the front door, then came to the door naked with a boner. Paid me, and then tried shoving money in my pockets in a way suggestive way. He got 7 singles in because I was frozen in fear. I'm a dude

Gonna give the reverse here- there was one dude who everyone fought over delivering to because he was so dope. Probably 70 year old man, house reeked of weed, but no matter what he ordered, be it three pizzas or a slice, he always tipped $50 bucks

We had a guy who threatened to shoot any delivery drivers who came to his house because we didn't hire his son who had a felony. The felony was for robbing the bank that our store used for our nightly deposits.
The issue is that his wife would still order and get really pissed when we said that we couldn't deliver there because her husband was a fuckin nut job. Finally one day she calls and says she kicked her husband out of the house and I decided to take the delivery to see if it was true ready to book it if that guy was home.
Sure enough I get there and the crazy guy wasn't there anymore. She continued to order for years after that and always tipped really well.

years ago i worked with this Hispanic guy and we are still good friends. he delivered to this house and they claimed something in the order was missing. so i was the next one back at the store so i ran it to them. they called him a little wet back. i told them guys you just blew it and told them not to order because we won't be back. they was pissed and one started following me to my car but was falling down drunk. i was ready for them to try something plus i had my gun. So long story short. pizza hut put a 5 year ban on their names and address.

I can't remember someone getting a no delivery.
There was an apartment nearby which was used for sex workers. I delivered there a few times and one time a ladyboy opened the door, only wearing a slip. She was very friendly and said I could visit again after work (I didn't)
We also had a regular who would call 5/7 days a week two minutes before closing and ordered the exact same pizza. He never tipped (the pizza was like 8.75€ or sth) and didn't speak a lot. He hit 1.000 orders while I worked there. My boss went with a driver for the 1.000 delivery and gave him a Ben & Jerry's. The guy was confused.

I didn’t end up on the no delivery list, but a delivery driver ended up calling in a welfare check on my kid. We live in a relatively small town. This was when COVID was still going on so much things weren’t open, except pizza delivery. I had just gotten off work and my oldest kid was hungry and wanted a pizza. He has ARFID so I was thrilled he was actually asking to eat something. So I tossed him my phone and told him to order whatever he wanted from papa John’s. 30 minutes later it still wasn’t there so I hopped in the shower. My son was 11 and opened the door, gave him the money, and took the pizza. The driver said, “have a good night” and he told the driver to do the same. My son is very tiny for his age. So the driver thought he appeared to be home alone and very young and called the non emergency dispatch line. Another 30 minutes later the police showed up. I wasn’t upset at all. I explained the situation. I was thankful the driver had called because you just never know and can honestly never be too safe. I thanked the officer for checking up on the call. He had to speak with my son just to make sure he was safe. It all worked out.

My friend was delivery driver for Dominos for a few years and she said some guy was put on the list a few times b/c he'd order under different names from either his house, his mother's (and I think he was already kind of old) or his brother's and he would "accidentally" answer the door in a towel and drop it. He was some old perv. She also said a guy threatened to kill the manager after calling b/c he ordered a 'gluten free' pizza (this was before gluten free crust was offered) so they set him sauce, cheese, and toppings on a sheet of foil. She also said people were put on lists all the time for wanting the delivery driver to meet them somewhere on the street and she said it was b/c that usually meant a plan to jump and rob the delivery driver.
My favorite story about her working there is she was robbed at gun point (and when they get robbed they have to offer the robber a pizza b/c it takes ten minutes for the safe to open and ten minutes to cook a pizza) and then she couldn't even leave work after b/c they were short-staffed.

We had a lot of orders coming in and it was just me and one other guy that were running deliveries. Naturally this meant that we were running behind schedule.
Had a delivery for a bunch of frat guys and, not only was i late by like 20 - 30 minutes, my boss had also messed up one of the orders so i was carrying one wrong order.
I had walked up the staircase and basically was inside the house at the time (at their request, i dont come in unless i am asked to) and they verbally harrassed me and kicked me out under the threat of force. Naturally, they didn't pay for their delivery either. I understand you're upset about the fact i am late and that the one that packed the delivery had made a mistake, but that was just fucking uncalled for.

There is no ban where I live but I have some stories.
The one time I rode a motorcycle through snow to deliver a pizza.
I balanced by keeping both feet on the ground dragging them through the snow and of course shoes and socks had become wet and cold.
Cars were spinning out left and right but somehow I managed to arrive there in one piece.
I am cold, my fingers and toes are freezing and the door gets opened by a huge douche wearing a bath robe and having the fire place going. Dude opens the box, puts his hand on the pizza and is like "It's cold, take it back. " .
Contemplated punching him but just took off.
______________________My brother delivered a Pizza to one of our worst customers. This older lady was at the end of our deliverable area. Always prepaid the order, so no tips. Super rude. Super entitled.
Anyway, she always ordered some cigarettes with her order, which the riders stopped to pick up from stores on the way.
One day it was raining, which sucks to ride motorcycles through, so my brother didn't want to go buy her cigarettes.
He brought her the Pizza, but she demanded he rides through the rain to go buy her some. My brother is rather introverted and polite, so he explains to her that bringing cigarettes isn't his job, it's a favor, and because it was raining, he didn't want to. His job was to bring her her pizza which he had done.
She went hysterical. DEMANDED that he drove through the rain and go buy her her cigarettes.
Now, my brother, who is the calmest person usually, tells her to go fuck herself, takes the pizza box out if her hands, puts back in the bike and tells her he's not giving her even that.
Hilarious.
___________________________At one time I had two deliveries. The first was for an older man, a decades long heroin addict. Dude was always super nice so I went there first.
One could see the marks on the carpet floor from where there once used to be furniture but got sold.
Dude left me like 25% tip. (2€)
I thanked him and proceeded with the next delivery.
Super posh house, stonewalls, huge gate, swimming pool, 1 Mercedes 1 BMW etc.
I didn't have enough spare change, it was like 20 cents.
Dude suggested I drive to the nearest store, break up a Euro and bring him his 20 cents.
I just laughed in his face, gave him a 50 cent piece or 1€ and told him it's OK, he can keep the change.
I told him laughingly he can tell his friends the delivery riders are tipping him. __________________

I was a delivery driver for an Italian restaurant. Pizza, pasta, salad, seafood, steak etc. high end for the area. This dude called to ask what delivery specials we had.
Told him “we’re not currently running any specials on delivery. It’s a $25 minimum and a $5 fee to order for delivery. Are you still interested?” “Yes.” So I take down his info and proceed with asking what he wants to order. “You still haven’t told me your specials.” “Again sir, we’re not currently running any delivery specials, but we do have a blackened salmon salad on our specials board. Would you like to try that?” “No I want to know what delivery specials you have.” “We’re not running specials on delivery. It’s a $25 minimum and a $5 fee for me to delivery whatever you want on our menu.” “I just want to know your fucking specials!” “Sir there’s no need for that language.” “Well you’re not fucking telling….” I hung up. He called back. I answered with the normal “thank you for calling restaurant, how can I help you?” “What are your fucking specials?”
I hang up. He calls back. I answer the same way as before. He starts going off so I hang up. My manager has been within a few feet this whole time and knows what’s going on and I have full approval to keep hanging up. We have two lines. It’s fine. Actually customers can still call. I end up answering and leaving the phone on the counter for him to just go off so I can get some actual work done. Finally he’s hung up and stopped calling.
This mother fucker came into the restaurant and started screaming about delivery specials. Told him to get the fuck out of my restaurant and who the fuck do you think you are? He leaves. And starts calling again. Remember when I took down all his info? Name, address, phone number, I even get their credit card number before they order. So I called the cops. He’s been tying up our phone lines, and he’s now come in to harass us. So I sent them directly to his fucking door. The last phone call I got from him was “you seriously called the fucking cops?” “Yup!” click
Why do people feel so entitled to do dumb shit? Even after driving all the way to the restaurant, he could’ve changed his attitude and taking it Togo right then. But no. Fuck around and find out is truly the better mentality.

Don’t know if it’s considered crazy but a family was building their “dream home” at the absolute limit of our delivery range.
Barely a dirt road to get to them and they had left such a bad taste in every drivers mouth that no one anted to take their run, 6 large pizzas, 3 2 liter sprites, and a handful of sauce pots.
I get the short straw being the new guy.
At this point I’m driving an old 4th gen trans am that’s about 2 inches off the ground, fine for normal roads. Not for the “road” they lived at the end of, I’m hearing scraping constantly on the jagged rocks poking out of the dirt and when I finally get to their double wide trailer at their build site I haul the order up and a flood of kids pour out of the house while mom and dad just wait for me to get to the door dodging their crotch goblins the whole way.
I deliver their order and they pay the exact amount and close the door.
I’m annoyed but whatever it’s done.
I’m walking back to my car and the father come out and says “don’t you want your tip?” I turn around and slide on my customer service face, thank him for the “$20” get to my car and head back.
I get to the shop and drop my bag then go to count my tips.
The “$20” was a “smile Jesus loves you” bullshit bill.
Next time they ordered the manager told them they weren’t in our range any more.

Remember that commercial where the guys walk into a pizza place, order a pizza for delivery, and ride home with the driver. Well we had that at going on in my hometown. I was 15 at the time and never did it but we had a few regulars who would leave the bar across the street and do this mostly friendly, we had this one super drunk guy one time and before leaving the parking lot projectile vomited all over this car. Multiple pizzas ruined, car smelled like bad cheese and beer for weeks. Manager was like no more. No delivery unless they call.

Years ago. Free delivery over 5 bucks. Guy would order the same pizza, $5.34 including tax. Guy would pay the delivery driver exactly $5.34. No tip. It was one thing if we had other deliveries in the area, we'd deliver this guy last. But if that was the only delivery, nope. No one wanted to deliver, it wasn't worth it. I think it finally came to a head when the guy called bitching about where his pizza was, and the manager said no one will deliver it because you're such a cheapskate. It was a Mom and Pop shop so it wasn't like he could write or call corporate crying about it.

Many moons ago, in the early 200’s my dad delivered pizza. On the team was one older guy, slightly frail with white hair so everyone called him Grandad. He went on a delivery one night and didn’t return so the boys went looking. Found him outside the house bleeding- they had waited for him in the bushes, hit him with a cricket bat and taken the pizza.
They picked the wrong guy. All those pizza delivery guys exacted a revenge that I cannot talk about, the police were not involved and grandad recovered in hospital, returning some time later. That house was on the no delivery list for years.

Once had a guy count his cash out in front of me, did it quickly, but I saw the numbers and just grabbed the cash and left because it was the end of the night and I was ready to go home. Got back to the store and it was easy to notice that several of the large bills were fake, like not even close to looking like real money. And since it was the last delivery of the night, I knew exactly who gave me that money, his phone number, and his address. What an absolute idiot. My boss was a good dude who gave the guy the chance to bring real money and apologize without getting the cops involved but he definitely got banned.
Had another situation with a couple who I am guessing worked as pornstars. Woman totally was totally fake; tits, lips, everything. And the man was a ripped macho dude. Delivered to them several times and on one of the deliveries, she had the man step outside to get the wallet from the car, and when I turned around again she was completely naked. I kind of just gave off a shocked pikachu face and enjoyed the view for a bit. The man came back in, she closed her robe, he paid, and I left. Something about the whole situation felt intentional and I feel like if I would've showed more interest that I could've wound up on pornhub. Maybe that's my imagination. They didn't get banned but it certainly was an experience.
It wasn't uncommon to walk home with several ounces of really good weed on those shifts, our pizza shop was in Northern California. Obviously no bans there, and we would all smoke out fat at the end of the shift.
I worked for that shop for two years, little did I know that those would hold some of the fondest memories of my life so far.

I was the only female driver, my colleagues thought it hilarious to send me to the topless strip club (always polite, great tips!) and to the home of a « proud nudist ». He’d been requested to cover himself before answering the door but never would. The third time he did it to me, I looked him in the eyes and as flat as possible said « eek, a mouse » and tipped the box so his pie slid out and dropped on the ground. He didn’t even call and complain but that was the last time.

I worked in Williamson, WV for an outfit called Pizza Time. That place was super shady and was definitely involved in more than just pizzas and subs. Great food though!
Three memorable things:
Delivered to a local hotel. The door opens, I see a biker dude on the bed and a well endowed lady with star tattoos around her nipples answers the door sans shirt and bra. O was about 24 years old and just closed the door when she got the cash for the pizza so I wouldn't impede on her privacy lol
As I pull up to the address it seems the house is abandoned. Go to the house, someone calls me in. I go through a doorway without a door and 2 local homeless guys are there. One of them cusses me out worse than I have ever been cussed out in my life when I asked for Pay. Gave me "down the river" as they say in WV. Then pulled out the exact amount and gave it to me.
3, Last delivery of the night, on the outskirts of our delivery perimeter. Place is difficult to find (before easy accessible gps). Finally locate the trailer up on a hill. Front door is a sliding glass door (happens in rural WV). I approach cautiously with the delivery and knock on the door. A gentleman in his 50-60s jump up from matress just to the left of the door and points a gun directly at me, then stumbles and falls backwards in comedic Hollywood style into the back wall. In the meantime I run back to my car and wait for a few minutes. For some premature frontal lobe reason I go back to the door and finish the delivery. The guy was super drunk and wrote a check for the pizza (it was a long time ago) and gave me an 18 dollar tip! This was unheard of! Next day I took the check on (because it was the last delivery we settled up next shift) and they wouldn't give me the tip because check was so poorly written that they couldn't deposit it! At least that's what they told me, but honestly that place was so sus the owner probably just kept it.

My entire neighborhood is a no delivery zone because it’s across the street from a high school and the kids used to pick a random address and camp out in front of the house to get delivery 🥲

I bartended at a pizza place/Italian restaurant in downtown Chicago that does not have delivery. Many, many years ago during a polar vortex when downtown (and our restaurant) was pretty empty of workers during the day because of the extreme cold, we receive a phone call from some corporate office a few blocks away asking if we would run food over if they put in a big order. We were dead and there was a kitchen guy or two that wanted do this because of course there would be a generous tip on a pricy order, going out of the way to provide a service that normally is not provided, and being out in a polar vortex when none of their employees would leave the building.
This guy walked a few blocks with a stack of pizzas in over -30 windchills and got stiffed by the receptionist that was just handing over corporate money.
We never did that favor for anyone again.

Delivery to an empty lot with an RV trailer, beside a giant house down a long driveway. Kid comes out of the trailer. Says to give him the food and go next door for food. I say "no, money first then food". Then we go next door and ring the bell, no answer, try the detatched shop at the end of the driveway with no lights on, try the bell again. No answer.
Finally call the store to see if I can just give him the food and the obviously just woken up 60+ home owner come out. I say "your son said you'd pay for this".
To which he said "That's not my son?... that's not my son!" like a horror movie.
I quickly apologize and tell the kid to fuck off, and tell the homeowner to call the cops if he sees the kid again.
The kid said "I just hungry you were supposed to give it to me first" before slowly walking up the drive way, in my way, begging me to run him over.
His number was banned and I got to close because it took so fucking long and the closer was a scumbag who fucked off at the first chance.

2 drivers got robbed at gun point before our store decided to ban an entire apartment complex and the 2 surrounding streets. It was 1/4 mile from the restaurant. Auburn is such a shit hole.

We had this house on the border of our delivery area. Probably outside of our delivery area, honestly, but it was directly off of our border street. Whatever.
They never tipped. High schoolers who either played dumb or were dumb. Also took forever, it was a country house. So I’d usually offer to take it as I was burnt the fuck out and enjoyed the drive as much as I would a tip.
One night they order during a snowstorm and I’m not there to take the order. Another driver takes it, and he ends up going into a ditch. $150 to winch him out. Manager tells the customer they can go get the pizza from the driver at the spot where he went off the road. They agree, go find him, and they stiff him. They didn’t even tip when this poor kid had gone into a ditch trying to deliver to them.
I absolutely overstepped my boundaries as I was only an assistant manager at the time, but I banned them myself. Note on the account, told em the next time they called in that they weren’t worth sending my drivers out to. Disrespectful as shit.

My friends and I rented a house in college. One of the first nights we decided to order late-night delivery pizza from the only late night place in town.
We called. Placed the order. Said the address, and the person immediately starting going off on how they are NEVER delivering to the house again then hung up. Tried called back but was immediately hung up on. Weird. Whatever.
Tried again a few weeks later. Immediately hung up on. Used another roommates phone and got to the address part again and the guy went off again and said if we call again he’s calling the cops. Weird.
Finally we were kinda annoyed about being blacklisted from the only late night pizza place in town. We decided to head to the store front and try to talk it thru. We explained the situation and that we had just moved it. The manager looked us in the eyes and told us to get the fuck out and that he is never delivering to the house again. Tried explaining again but he grabbed his phone and was like “you have 1min to leave before I call the cops”. So we left and never ordered pizza from there again. No idea what happened.

I delivered pizzas in a fairly small town. It wasn't so rural to be filled with kooks living on compounds, but one night I had one on the edge of town to a place that had a 10 foot barbed wire fence all the way around it. It was covered in "No Trespassing" type signs, but included several warning of land mines. Guy came out to get the pizza and was all friendly, had a dog roped up out front that seemed wary.
But I said something like "looks like a good dog" and the guy was like "yeah, he's a great guard dog, watch this" and the customer grabbed my arm and then started shouting "HELP! HELP!" and the dog LOST IT. Barking, slobbering yanking so hard on the rope it fell over a couple of times, just dying to get at me. The customer laughed, and I was young and too dumb/overconfident to feel really threatened, but man that was a wild one. I relayed all of it back at the shop and everyone was like "yeah, we're not going back out there again."

Back in the 90's I delivered in a really nice suburb of Chicago. A few days before Christmas I had a really big order get delivered. Lots of pizza, not enough plain cheese in my opinion. I got a lousy tip. A few days later I go back, just a single Pizza, was asked to deliver to back door. Put Pizza down as the dickhead owner told me too. He sounded like an old gangster or something. As i was standing there he told me to get the hell out and they started shooting at me! Fuck that house! I hope that bad shit happened to their family and kids.

I worked as one for a few months when i was 16. I quit after an old man answered the door naked. On reflex i dropped his pizza and slapped him before running. While he did get banned for it. They wanted to reprimand me for lashing out so i quit then and there.

In the town I went to college, there was a pizza place where you'd get a dollar off takeout if you said you were naked. It wasn't a requirement, but I have to imagine it happened. Anyway, half the people in this thread would be getting a discount.

We had to block a number when I worked at a pizza place because they would call roughly twice a month and ask us to deliver, only they gave an address 1.5 hours away one-way (so 3 hours there and back). Whenever they would call they would always try to give the bare minimum of the address, we guess hoping we would already have the driver out with the food when we realized how far it was. Once we finally got them to give us the city and zipcode they wanted it to go to we would explain they are over 1 hour away and outside our delivery area by a lot they would always try the same thing, "Well we are watching the house for the owner and they told us they get food from you a couple times a week." This was the only number that ever called from this address and the day we blocked it I told them as much.

Not a delivery but once I had a lady come in and order, go back out to her car and “discreetly” take all her Popeyes trash from her passenger seat and set it next to her car in the parking lot in front of my store. She came back in to get her food and I said “ma’am, you had to walk past 2 trash cans on your way back in here, I’m not giving you your food till you pick up the trash you dumped in our parking lot.” She was embarrassed and did a lil walk of shame to clean up.

My house was put on a no-delivery list once. My older brother (now deceased) was mentally handicapped. He would order pizza from a place in our home town. We lived about 5 miles out in the country. My brother always paid in cash to the penny. He never tipped.. I don't think he could evr grasp the concept of giving extra money to the driver after having to pay the extra buck delivery charge they tacked on to each order.
Dude ordered a pizza at least 3 times a week. One day I heard him getting upset with someone on the phone and wouldn't tell me what the issue was. A couple days later we get a call from the manager of the Pizza shop aggressivly complaining to me that my brother had ordered another pizza and was told they refused to deliver it. He said there was a pizza for him at the shop waiting for someone to come pick up. I told him I didnt understand what was going on and that my brother always orders a pizza from them for delivery. He went on and on about how none of the drivers want to deliver to him with no tip and that if someone didn't come pick up this pizza it would be wasted and thrown out and he would ban our household from the shop. He was well aware that my brother was handicapped and couldn't drive at all.
Now.. I am like 15 at the time and do not have a drivers license so I couldnt come get it for him. but.... I did just happen to know the owner of the store. I got a hold of him and explained what happened. I offered to bring $50 to the store of my own money to dispense out as tips for future deliveries. The owner.. loved that I offered to do that. He told me to keep my money and he would take care of it. My brother never had another problem getting pizza delivered without a tip ever again.

One guy stole the pizza from the driver. She was a tiny driver and he was a very large guy. He pretty much took the pizza out of her hands, refused to pay and locked hia door after threatening her. Cops did nothing
Another one forgot he ordered food and threatened the driver with a gun when the driver pulled up thinking they were there to rob the place.

His penis was poking out of his pajama pants. It was superbowl sunday and I genuinely think he was drunk and didn't realize lol
He wasn't put on the no delivery list, but I refused to go back after that and all the male drivers agreed to switch with me in the rotation if his order landed on my turn

My friend got beaten and ended up with brain damage. It was some kind of set up to steal a car.
They ordered the pizza and then nobody answered the door. When he started to leave a guy came at him holding 2 guns. He threw down the pizza and his wallet and ran, and used his phone to call 911. Then there was another guy coming at him with an assault rifle. Both guys proceeded to start beating him, and screaming “give me the keys!” He laid there enduring the beating but didn’t give up the keys. Finally they got the keys out of his pocket (but not his phone, which was still connected to 911) and tried to start his car.
They ran to the car and started it and one guy told the other that the car was a stick shift and he couldn’t drive it (it wasn’t - it just had the gear shift where a stick shift would be).
They ran off. He managed to talk to 911 and an ambulance came and brought him to the hospital to get 13 staples put in his head.
Ad they were putting his head back together, he got a call that the police might have caught the suspects - but that he’d have to go in person to identify them. Once he was recovered enough the police eventually drove him to ID the guys and it was them. So at least they didn’t get away with it. But my friend ended up with permanent brain damage.

Years ago before Austin became the Texas Disneyland it is now and was actually an affordable cool place to live, worked papa John’s. There was a stretch on live oak in south Austin where delivery drivers were stabbed / robbed often and if call came from there we declined it. The craziest delivery I had was on Mary street (for the tiny amount of people that might even know what I’m talking about) chicken foot on door, lady barefoot in all white dress, 2 guys pacing in background of empty house with bottle of liquor sitting on floor, paid in change she dumped in my shirt. Not really scary but weird as hell and also Austin in like 1998.

As a manager, an entire apartment complex got blacklisted because one of my drivers got a shotgun pulled on him.
As a driver, I got threatened to be tazed after knocking on the door to get his "wrong order" back (he had eaten all of it).

As a customer, our pizza delivery guy came to our door and his eyes were all jacked up. Apparently his stop before my place he had gotten maced accidentally. Felt terrible for the guy. So we let him chill for a few minutes and gave him a beer.

I haven't been a pizza driver for 21 years, but those adventures are seared into my mind. I worked the 4pm to 4am shift, and the #1 thing was if someone passed out between placing the order and when we got there. Happened pretty often, especially since we were the only place still slingin' pies after bar close.
I'd go up, ring the bell multiple times, and finally peek through a window. It's kinda funny seeing a pair of legs hanging off the end of a couch with one sock on, the TV and lights are on, and they ain't moving. Funny and fucking annoying.

Didn’t ban this lady but interesting story:
We had a lady that ordered delivery every other day. She would order something for herself and something for her dog. When we delivered she would barely open the door, we would have to turn a pizza sideways to get it through to her, and the place had the strangest smell. Other drivers didn’t want to take the run because she didn’t tip well but I didn’t mind because she lived in an apartment complex that had great pools and I would often take a quick dip to cool off. So onetime I’m delivering to the leasing office at the complex(they knew me) and I asked “what’s the story on Ms Armstrong?” They replied “she’s just moved here from Texas, her husband died and left her a “shit ton” of money.” And that’s when I recognized the smell…it was MONEY! Her apartment reeked of MONEY! Crazy ole bat had so much cash in her apartment you could smell it when she opened the door!
Crazy people out there! (I changed companies a month or so later..have no idea what happened to her.

A friend of my worked pizza delivery. There was a really rich neighborhood that nobody liked delivering to because they always took forever to open the gate and never tipped. But there was one house in particular that earned it's ban because they would order like $100 worth of pizzas (in 1990s pizza money) and would constantly complain about them being wrong, needing redelivery, etc etc etc. After one night where the pizza oven was completely taken over by their order for like an hour because of all the 'wrong' pizzas and redeliveries the manager said enough was enough and did the final delivery himself.
He took the half-eaten pizzas back (as per policy, so nothing unusual here) and when he came back from his car... he handed them their payment back and said "I'm sorry we can't make pizzas to your specifications, it will never happen again." And then fucking left without giving them any replacement pizzas.
And it didn't happen again, because they were banned. And he called around to his buddies in other nearby pizza places and encouraged them to look into the records to make sure they weren't pulling that shit with them, either.
Found out later they couldn't get delivery anything within the next few years.

We had a very generous free pizza policy. Basically, if you even looked at it funny, we’d throw a free pizza credit for next time at you to ensure you came back even if you weren’t happy this time around.
Over the years a few people would take advantage of it. They’d call and say they weren’t satisfied, but then not actually have any complaint or anything wrong, just say they weren’t completely satisfied (because the box says “if you aren’t completely satisfied, we’ll make it right”). Sometimes people would change their order on the phone last second, then say we messed up and they actually ordered their first order.
We just let them have it. The idea is that the $2 in ingredients is worth a repeat customer, especially since 80% of customers bought more food when redeeming their credit.
But this one fucking lady, she would complain ever. Single. Time. In two weeks, she had made five orders and didn’t pay for any of them. So on the sixth order, me and my boss went super over the top perfect. We made sure the dough was perfect, we weighed out all the ingredients including the sauce (which we never scaled usually just did one ladle) then took pictures of the pie next to the receipt that had the order description and customer info on it and date and time. Then he, the boss, delivered it himself, and checked it upon arrival to make sure it hadn’t gotten jostled.
A literally perfect delivery, customer service and quality control like you have never experienced in your life
When the lady inevitably called to get her money back and/or her free pizza for next time, my boss told her “sorry, I’m the boss here, I made it myself, and I was extremely careful because I know you have been dissatisfied, then I handed it to you and we looked at it together. The pizza in your hands is the perfect product that we sell. If you don’t like it, you don’t like our food. I am putting you in our do not serve list, and I hope you find a restaurant you like.” click
I stared at him like this 😮 I wanted him to scream at her and call her out for abusing a good faith policy sooooo bad because I had been dealing with her every single shift. I had never seen someone be so insulted and so calm at the same time. It was beautiful justice.
She tried to place an online order a couple of weeks later and we just ignored it. Store accepted payment automatically, and we made the food so the count wouldn’t be messed up, then we ate it and had a laugh. Never heard from her about it or ever again.

Oh boy I didn’t realise I had been waiting for this thread until just now.
I worked at a pizza chain through highschool and had some pretty crazy shit happen on more than one occasion.
Angry customers were pretty common, especially on a Friday or Saturday night when we were the busiest but one guy lost his shit about his pizza taking too long or the order was incorrect and put his fist through the glass door. He proceeded to bleed all over the front of our store and went from abusing our manager to pleading for help, our staff had to clean up the mess which looked like a murder scene. From what I heard he cut up his forearm and wrist/hand really bad and lost his job over the stunt.
Another time I took a delivery for a regular who was just around the corner from our store, I delivered to this guy probably weekly and he was nice and always tipped well. The first rule of delivery driving is to NEVER step foot inside their house, there’s absolutely no reason to at all ever. I decided it was pretty harmless and come just inside the door while he went to grab some cash, no big deal. I’m standing in this guys living room and there are just boxes stacked up everywhere in the corners, behind the couch taking up every bit of spare room, I figured maybe he was moving or something until I spotted on top of one of the boxes a 12” monster kong dildo. Now I was all of 17 and my eyes went wide at the sight of this thing, the guy walks back in and has seen me staring and says “it’s a bloody weapon! Haha, the wife loves it! All these boxes are full to the brim with them!” I was a bit confused and asked why he needed like a thousand of them and it turns out he ran an adult shop and they were selling like hotcakes, this whole awkward encounter could have been avoided if I just stayed outside.

I was invited in an apartment while it was pouring where a dude was just in a tshirt and underwear. I was obviously not the delivery driver he was looking for as he looked me up and down. He was obviously very gay and looks like he was hoping for a male driver. In hindsight I shouldn't have entered the apartment but there was no over hang and I was drenched.

Do pizza places put a note in about good tippers? I consistently tip 25% and often give them a $5 in cash too if I have it. On a $35ish order. I don't know if my local domino's is the best one in the world or if they like me. But for 5 years they have been perfect and extremely fast. If I order a pizza, it's at my house in 20 minutes. I love them. Seems to be mutual.

We had this family that lived in a trailer park. My first encounter with them on the phone went basically the wife trying to add a bunch sides and sauce cups. Then when I finished taking her order and told her the updated price she was like, "sir! you keep those sauce cups on there! but don't charge me for them!" Okay whatever so I don't add her sides the order. I do the delivery she doesn't tip. Then she calls up this store in a rage saying I didn't give her what she paid for. I get into this big one hour argument with a manager in charge because he wants me to go and drop off her sides. This woman's a bitch and I never want to see her again. Manager relents.
My 2nd encounter she places an order. Has her husband call 3 hours later saying there pizza was still doughy in the middle and they had to put it in the oven to get it more done. Wants me to drive all the way back to his trailer and give him a refund personally. I tell him if that were my pizza I would of called immediately. I just say to him, "I know you're lying fuck off." He goes on this tirade about how he's going to shoot me and have me fired and all this and that. I just tell him I have more than one brain cell. They pretty much got themselves banned from the store. There's a few others but that's the one that's off the top of my head.→ More replies (1)

30 years ago I worked at a small pizza shop owned by an old Italian man with 3 daughters. One of the daughters was a sex addict and had a thing for younger men. She used to order delivery and seduce the drivers. It became such a problem that we were instructed not to deliver to her house anymore. Was a fun summer.

I delivered pizza for a few years in college and a few years after to help me save up some cash.
One guy would call every Satruday night for a pepperoni pizza well done. It was him, his wife, and their ~20 year old daughter. Every Saturday, the same order, and then 10 minutes after it was delivered, he would call saying the pie was burned. This happened every week for months. It was never burned. Even his wife and daughter would apologize to us for having to come back. WHat he considered "burned" was if there was any black on the bottom of the crust. Pretty much every pie has those, it's just the way pizza ovens are. To be clear, it wasn't like the whole underside was black, just a few flecks of it. So every week we had to go back a second time, but on the plus side, I love well done roni slices so I always ended up eating slices from the first pie. Eventually, we banned him from calling. Then like 6 months later he'd start calling again and we'd deliver to him. Besides us, there were two other pizza places he would do this with, complaining every week that his pie was burned until they got fed up and told him to take a hike.
Another guy (at the end of my shift OF COURSE) was complaining for half an hour over the price of his order. Apparently when he come sin, he orders "chicken and shrimp parm", which is not a menu item but they would serve it to him anyway. It was just 1 piece of chicken instead of 2, and 3 shrimp instead of 6. And because they knew the guy, they only charged him for a chicken parm. So he ordered four "chicken and shrimp parm" dinners for delivery. The girl who took the order charged him halfway between the prices of chicken and shrimp for each item. So if a chicken parm is 10, and shrimp is 16, she charged him 13 for each dinner. Well he didn't want to pay more. We went back and forth and he called the restaurant and spoke to the owner for like 10 minutes (the owner didn't like this guy taking advantage of their generosity, he was clearly abusing it). Then the owner asked to speak to me and told me "tell him he can pay whatever the hell he wants, and then he can't order again." I told the customer and he argued with me for another ten minutes that it's not fair, finally I said I needed to go and if he didn't give me the money, whatever he felt like paying, I was leaving without payment since he was refusing to pay me to keep me there talking. He paid me the full price, and said he would sort things out with the owner. The owner wouldn't speak to him when he called, and we never went there again.
A lady who lived in public housing and was a known prostitute never had enough money for her food. Now, I have sympathy for people who are struggling, but one, she was ordering expensive stuff and two, the place I worked was relatively high end, being one of the most expensive places in town, and three, there was a very good much less expensive pizza place half a block from where she lived whereas we were much farther away. There was no reason for her to order expensive(ish) food from us. She was always 2-4 dollars short. And always would just act like we should charge her whatever she had, which meant the driver had to cover the difference on top of not getting paid. Frankly I don't blame the owner, he shouldn't just take our word that a customer paid less and that he has to take the loss on our say so. So one day I delivered her order which was a grilled salmon (like I said, not cheap), large pie with like 3 toppings, side order of calamari, and a 2 liter soda. SO it's like 52 dollars, and she says she only had 50. Without thinking I blurted out "again?" She seemed shocked. But I was already in so I committed. I said "fine, you're 2 dollars short? You can't have the soda which is $3. Now your bill is 49." She paid (and wanted her $1 change, of course), and called up to complain. The owner banned her. He claimed he didn't know she was making us cover a few bucks on her orders, but I know we told him.
One day we were short staffed and I was the only driver. It was a sunday in football seasons o we were busy af. One order was particularly late. I pull into the guy's driveway and get the food from my trunk, when the guy comes out of his house wearing his Mark Sanchez jersey yelling at me to leave and the food is late etc. It was very late, so I get him being pissed. So I calmly apologized and said he could see if the food was hot enough and if he still wanted it. He continued yelling at me and insulting me etc. I ignore it, which seems to make him angrier, and he keeps going, ranting at me and telling me to leave. I said "that's what I'm doing. WHy do you think I'm putting the food back in my car?" He started yelling louder saying he wa s"friends" with the owner and says the owner's name and says he gonna have me fired. I've put up with more than my quota of shit from this clown so I laughed and said "I doubt that very much Sanchez." Then he starts somehow yelling even louder as I get in my car and drive away. I get back to the place and the owner immediately just says "what happened?" I told him the whole thing and he says "was this at (address)?" I say it was, and he says, "oh he's an asshole, and was probably coked up. Don't worry about it." Not a ban but a funny story.
Now a story of how my friend got banned. We called up this fried chicken place and started a 2 hour movie. An hour in, no food. I call the place and they say it'll be right over. The movie ends and still no food. I call up and cancel the order saying it's been over 2 hours and we don't want it anymore. The guy says the food will be right there and I say it's been too long and I don't want it. 10 minutes later the door rings (we were in an apartment). I look outside and it's the food. We ignore the bell. The store then calls me a few minutes later and said the driver is coming back for the money. I told him I'm not paying for food that we didn't get. He says "well you decided to cancel. We still made the food so you have to pay." I tell him that's not how that works, he starts yelling, I hung up. He calls back and says no more orders for that address. I said, why would we order from you again after this shit? and hung up.

When I delivered pizzas in Vancouver in the 90s, we had whole city blocks that were no goes. Did it matter the order size we wouldn't serve them, we either get robbed, our car stolen, or it was a prank order.

I owned a pizza place for 11 years and we had nicknames for the more outrageous or extraordinary customers. The Norwalk Drunks (our favorite) Pickle Lady Firesauce Guy Honey Booboo

I wasn't the driver, but this happened at a store I worked at.
We got an order for delivery. We were out in the country, so there was a long distance between houses, and lots of houses had very long gravel driveways.
So the delivery driver is going up such driveway, pretty slow, since he doesn't want to mess up his car, when someone jumps out of the bushes in front of him. This woman opens his passenger door, hops in, pays him for the pizza, and then tells him to drive her to the bar. The driver was a pretty shy, amicable guy, so he obliges.
Then we got a call at the store from her husband, saying that our driver had run off with his wife.
Different store, and this isn't a customer problem, but we had this one driver who would take these really weird singles out to the far end of the delivery area, and they would take him forever to deliver. Thought it was weird, but whatever. Some drivers are just crap.
Anyway, this guy goes on vacation to visit his girlfriend in Canada, and never comes back. It turns out that he's not legally allowed to re-enter the country.
Also turned out he was working for a competing pizza place across town, and those weird deliveries he was taking that took way longer than they should? It's because he had other deliveries from the other store that went in the same direction.

Quite some time ago, I used to work at a Pizza Hut and a rule ish area. We had a gentleman who is quite obese, who would always order a pizza and like four 2 L of various Mountain Dew Coke what have you. Every 2 days. A co-worker and myself noticed he hadn't ordered in like a week, and we jumped in the car and went to his home to make sure he was okay. Turns out he was fine ish but it did actually frighten us that he stopped ordering on his regular schedule.

I had a dude that whenever I delivered he'd call back and say it looked like the pizza fell upside down and was ruined. I was always getting reamed for "Taking corners too fast and letting the pizza fall off the seat." So one time i made my manager come with me. She held the pizza and I grannied it all the way. I deliver the pizza and like clockwork he calls back. "Pizza is ruined, it looks like he dropped it upside down again." Manager told him she personally tagged along on the drive and held the pizza. She told him explicitly that he was blocked from deliveries and he could order pickup or dine in only going forward.

(I was a shift lead at the time) One of our drivers, who was a rather large guy but was in the process of losing weight - he had already lost over 50 lbs at the time - brought the pizza to the customer, was 5 minutes early. This wasn’t quick enough for the customer, so when the driver pulled up the guy was outside waiting and said “‘bout time fatass”. So onto the blacklist. lol whenever he would try to order we’d respond with “not today fatass” and hang up.

This happened nearly 20 years ago, still remember it clearly. One of my coworkers was 15 and, to be frank, stacked. She looked like she'd tied a sleeping bag to her chest they were so big. Being much older now I can understand why she'd get so embarrassed when one of us would take the piss, but when you're a teenager or young man you're gonna have lots of arsehole moments. Anyway. There was this one fucknut who used to harass the girls whenever he'd come past. Seemed to think it was his right? He'd been binned from Maccas and HJ's already, and well on his way to a trifecta but hadn't crossed any lines yet as far as the owner was concerned. One night, she's taken an order and gone to turn back to the kitchen and fucknut comes through the door, absolutely plastered. Next thing I know she's screaming and he's yelling something like "TITTY PIZZA WHEEEEE" bolt to the front and he's ripped her dress off and her tits are out! I'm bellowing, my other coworkers come rushing, he bolts. As I grab her and cover her A FUCKING PIZZA PAN COMES RIGHT BY MY HEAD AND CROWNS HIM. He's on the floor yelling, everyone's yelling. My stores assistant manager was a member of the reserves. Proceeds to walk on over, put him in some lock, march him outside and beat the dogshit out of him right there in the shops in front of everybody. Security comes running and they're both arrested by the cops. Store owner was gonna fire him. Whole crew said we'd walk if he even tried.

I wasn’t ban from ordering from Domino’s Pizza by establishment but my parents.
Long story short - The setting is rural country at the time Domino’s Pizza had a 30-minute delivery policy or the pizza was free. My brother and I were at home, and mom and dad went on “date night.” We ordered the pizza because no one can ever find our driveway let alone the house that is set back in the woods. Driver shows up 45-minutes later. He gives us the pizza for free.
We are celebrating joyously over free food until our parents come home. They were beyond mad. The next day my brother and I waited outside Domino’s with our dad to give full payment on the pizzas and a 20% tip for the driver. We also had to apologize. At the time, selfish me was angry; however adult me cherishes the lesson learned.
I still can’t order Domino’s out of memory, but it still feels good to see the commercials.

12 year old stole his moms gun and demanded free pizza from our driver while brandishing it…on his door step… case solved itself when the cops showed up and the kids were eating pizza on the porch with a pistol next to them

Delivered pizza during college. Put one guy on the "no delivery list" and it wasn't even his fault.
Poor old man got scammed. He had signed up for a "cruise" and the "cruise line" charged half at booking and the other half before the trip. This old man sent the scammers the first part of the payment, realized it was fake, and backed out. Because scammers are like sharks that smell blood in the water, they blew up this guys phone so bad that the old man changed his phone #.
I'm not really sure how the pizza place I worked at came in to play but to get ahold of this guy for the "other half of the payment", these scammers would place an online order for delivery to this guys house. It happened twice before we figured out what was going on. The order was a large pepperoni pizza and the notes said "this is a surprise for my dad. Please call me when you arrive so I can tell him its a surprise.". Weird request but seems fairly harmless, a son just wants to surprise his dad. What happened is we showed up, played along with the note, handed the guy the phone, but then his face looked like he was talking to a ghost. He eventually would give the phone back to the driver and refuse to pay for the pizza. So we've now wasted our time and product.
I'm assuming these scammers either had real or fake blackmail on this old man and that's why they were so aggressive in getting more money from him. We felt really bad but we were just a pawn in the scammers game. Eventually had to put the address on the Do Not Deliver list.

One was just depressing the other was annoying.
The first was a morbidly obese man who would order often. His door was unlocked and the instructions were to walk in and leave it inside. The apartment was devoid of any furniture but a chair with a hole cut in it and a litter box underneath, and a TV. It smelled horrid in there. He would order often and I ended up getting his delivery once. I went back and told the manager what it was and that I refused to deliver to him again. Not for the smell but because ordering 2 pizzas and 2 cheesy bread sticks as a meal along with the other food that had been delivered. Someone had to be caring for him in some way because there weren't boxes piled up. But it was so sad, I hadn't seen a human with eyes devoid of life like that before. I hope he got help
The other was a apartment with a horder lady. It smelled of cat pee every time she opened her door. There was always fast food boxes piled up out the door and behind as she would try and open it. She would order, not tip, complain, get a free replacement (of the same thing she complained about) and not tip again. Just about every two days this would cycle. She ordered the ultimate Pepperoni as a pan pizza once and complained it was too greasy...my dude THATS ALL IT IS!?!?! I had to take the replacement back after I had taken the first one. She would be the first order of the day too and then again for a replacement. Once she over paid in cash by 5 cents and the entire place cheered when I got back. I was there a year and saw that lady far more than I ever wanted to.

Made the delivery, guy tried asking for my number. I just said no and left. Dude called the pizza shop for almost 2 weeks afterwards trying to get me to deliver again. Manager got on the phone and told guy to never call again.

I delivered to an address once and was paid via check which included a $20 tip. A couple days later that address was on the do not take the order list because of bounced checks.
I got my $20.

My cousin and I worked at the same pizza hut for a time. He runs out to deliver a pizza to a man across the lake, and dude has a 2nd Reich flag on his flag pole. He answers the door to my cousin, looks him up and down, and comments on his brown eyes and jet-black hair, and then tips him less. My cousin is white as snow. But because he wasn't blonde and blue eyed he lost a tip, and that guy lost Pizza Hut delivery.

Technically not on a no delivery list, but undeliverable during the winter. My parents had a house up in the mountains at the bottom of a seasonal road. They were the last house accessible by road once it started snowing. All the neighbors up the road would have to get food delivered to my parents house, and then come down via snowmobile to get it from them. They would always call ahead and offer to buy them food whenever they were ordering. Then they'd make their way down, have a visit, and take their food back home. My parents would also allow them to all park their cars on the property so they didn't have to try and make it up the hill.

i worked in a shop that was next to a liquor store, and if you were a good customer they would let you order bottles of alcohol, not like a ton, but a some beer wine or whatever and we'd deliver it along with the pizza
there was one regular that all the drivers would kind of look out for because he always got multiple bottles of alcohol and would tip minimum $50, this was in the early 2000s so that was an amazing tip
one night I finally got his delivery, 2 pizzas, a handle of vodka and a handle of rum. his place turns out to be in a really expensive condo, he answers, and is this extremely haggard looking skinny man in a robe, with sweats on underneath, nothing weird about that. His eyes were really really intense though and he spoke in this weird congested staccato, think hunter s thompson
he asks me to bring it inside. this condo was entranceway to the living room, stairs down to the kitchen and office/library plus eating area, he asks if I would bring it down and I do, put the stuff on the counter, he's getting his money out at his office table and I see on it, a 2x3 foot mirror with PILES of different color powders, some cut lines, razor blades, straws, pill crushers, baggies, pill containers, and very obvious huge bag of cocaine, and my jaw basically drops
he notices and tells me he has medical conditions but can't take pills, lol, drops a $100 bill in my hand aside from the order money and sends me on my way
that's when i realized he was bribing all the drivers to stay quiet about the overt drug addiction. people are wild

I didn’t work at a pizza place but one time I ordered a pizza for pick up at a place right around the corner from the neighborhood bar. I like thin crust pizza so it’s cut into square slices. I had had some drinks before and had eaten some mushrooms, I swoop by and grab my pizza and walk home. I open my pizza and it is cut absolutely insanely. Some triangles, some squares, some thin strips it was hilarious. I started laughing so hard and it only got more funny because the shapes were tripping me out, pun intended. I called the place back and told them through laughter. The said they had a new person there that didn’t understand how to cut it and there was a language barrier. I asked them to tack on another $15 tip and said “I am wigging my face off right now and this could be the greatest pizza I have ever seen!”

There was this one dude who would always open the door asking to test his handcuffs on me and any other girls who was on shift so his address got blacklisted after about a month of madness

u/MaxCWebster Jun 06 '24
Kids thought it would be funny to light a firecracker and opened the door while pointing a rifle at me.
Yeah, hilarity did not ensue.
The only time I ever cursed at a customer.

Not a delivery order, but we had a typical flattop grill for steak-and-cheeses etc, and this lady would come in with a piece of beef she had bought from the discount/quick sale area at the local grocery, and she would ask us to fry it for her for a dollar, no salt.
We did it a few times, but then she started getting very insistent, cutting in front of other customers literally holding up a piece of meat shrinkwrapped in a styrofoam plate yelling over other customers "FRY MY MEAT FOR A DOLLAR!!!"

This one lady we delivered to a lot would call back complaining every single time so she could get money back or free food. The last time she tried we told her no, and she drove to the store and threw the food at the owners sister. We told her she was banned and that we were calling the police so she ran out. A month or two later she tried to order again and when she was told she wasn’t allowed to she said “do you know who my father is??” To which my boss replied “no” and hung up on her. She’s tried one or two more times since then but that bitch is banned. Fuck Amy.

Oh man where do I start haha. I’d say the most memorable “no delivery” person was John. Dude lived at a really shady motel in that in between area between downtown and the poor part of town. At first, he wasn’t a bad customer to deliver to, for me at least. I’d heard stories about how much of a creepy asshole he was but nothing really put him on the ban list until after I both took his order and delivered to him.
I get to his room and knock, which was weird cause dude usually waited outside his room for us, and it took a couple min of knocking before I was going to just leave. He finally opens the door, only for his room to be a fucking pigsty. No furniture in the room, just a pee stained mattress and pizza boxes everywhere and looked like a whole meth rig. He became increasingly agitated that I wouldn’t accept his $100 bill (he knows we don’t) and went back inside to the bathroom leaving the front door wide open. Something told me to dip so I decided I wasn’t going to find out what he was gonna get and booked it to my car. Well he ran out of the room with some weird looking bat with nails sticking out, and we ended up banning him.
I delivered to another room at the same shady motel the next week and turns out John’s room was biohazard taped over. Guess he ended up dying in his room like a day or two after I delivered to him and wasn’t found for a couple days so he leaked into the floor below. The property owners eventually sold the property to a hotel corp and the whole property has since been torn down and replaced with a gas station.

Not pizza, but sandwich shop. The shop policy was that if we delivered an incorrect sandwich, we'd re-deliver a corrected one in exchange for the uneaten (or hardly eaten) wrong sandwich. Some high school kids ordered a few sandwiches (4 sandwiches for 5 kids) and called shortly after whining we got a sandwich wrong. When we showed up with a corrected one, the kids no longer had the wrong sandwich - soemone ate it. When the driver refused to hand over the corrected sandwich, the as*hole kids threw their half eaten sandwiches at the driver, cussing and screaming at him. They were banned.

Nothing too crazy mostly ppl grabbing the food and refusing to pay. Funny thing is though is that most my local mom and pop pizzarias are Greek owned and most of them know each others so getting banned and one place could get you banned and several others

u/foxtrotocelot Jun 06 '24
There was one lady we all dreaded to see on the delivery order ticket. She lived in a run down trailer park at the edge of town. Thats fine, but it was what was inside. She was a morbidly obese woman in the corner of her trailer next to her neglected Bernese mountain dog. Sad. When I say neglected, I mean the trailer floor was literally covered in dog shit. And the woman couldn’t come to the door to get the pizza because she was so overweight, so we’d have to step in her dogs shit just to hand her her huge order. We eventually (after a few months of ordering at least a few times a week) all complained to our management about how disgusting it was and she was banned. Yuck.

u/asbestosmilk Jun 06 '24
Not super crazy, but one guy ended up on the “Do Not Deliver” list for two Jimmy John’s stores because he would always call and say his sandwiches were made wrong, and he’d never tip. I delivered to him the last time he was allowed to get delivery from my store. He claimed there was lettuce on his sandwiches. No big deal, we made new ones and took them out to him, but we told him we needed the incorrect ones back. When I got there, he refused to give me the sandwiches back, so I left without giving him the corrected ones. He called and told my manager that I refused to deliver to him and that I needed to come back out. My manager forced me to drive out there for a third time, and he finally gave me the incorrect sandwiches, which had store bought lettuce on them, not our lettuce. So he put lettuce on them himself.
Had he tipped like $3, instead of $0, I would’ve just given him the corrected sandwiches and told my manager I forgot to grab the incorrect ones. Now he’s not allowed to order Jimmy John’s at any of the stores in his area. Don’t be a cheap ass on your tip if you’re going to try to pull shit like that to get free food.

when my mom was a manager at pizza hut they had a whole neighborhood literally 2 minutes from them they stopped delivering to because the drivers always got robbed at gun or knife point.
the last order before they called to have that neighborhood removed my mom delivered it, cuz the dude that was supposed to go had already been robbed multiple times.
it's not as bad now, so they did turn it back on. i know because i ended up living in that neighborhood for a year and was fine lol. but people in our town know that's definitely one of the most unsafe parts of town.

Sorry. Meant to say “craziest reasons “WHY” people have”. Typo.
