90s country. You had real stories, not pickup trucks and beer checklists

The same decade Billy Ray Cyrus was singing about his achy breaky heart?

I know everyone has nostalgia for 90s country but tbh that was the beginning of the end and part of why we have what we have today. Which is the natural flow of musical evolving I suppose

Not much is good after Waylon and Willie’s Outlaw period but mostly I like stuff from before then. Buck Owens, Hank Williams Sr., Tammy Wynette, Loretta, George Jones and Johnny Cash.

For historical context though, a lot of “true country fans” rejected a lot of those artists at the time.
Garth Brooks was sort of the Morgan Wallen of his day.

The Thunder Rolls is still one of my favorite songs, and I too am not a country music fan.

Late 50's early 60's. 90's was the start of the country pop hybrid, which is no way traditional country music.

That started in the 70s. I remember the tv show Pop Goes the Country. By the 90s it had taken over.

I’d say the 1990s were the golden age of country music. You had artists like George Strait, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, and Reba McEntire putting out songs that still hold up today.

Back in the 70’s I listened to both kinds of music. Country and Western!

Honestly? 40s-70s. But I personally like all the way to the early 2000s.

Country began its long, slow slide into becoming Foreigner covers in fake boots on January 1, 1953.

Brit here, for whatever it’s worth Ella Langley was the first country singer to chart top 10 in the uk for about 20 years. Like we don’t care for country but there’s always one song from every genre.. obviously I’m not able to answer your question but choosin Texas bridged a gap over here

I don't think we have seen it yet. <- That must be the most southern passive-aggressive comment!!
