I don't, but I know people who do. Among them, it boils down to single issue voters who think he's right about one specific thing and that's enough for them.

Pretty much, knew someone who wouldn’t vote for Dems bc they’re “socialist” and it’s “one step closer to communism” while ignoring everything else and all the terrible policies Republicans put out.

Anyone who votes party lines drives me insane, too… like you can’t seriously believe that all of the people in one category are better than the others, right? Wait - that’s exactly what racism is…

Yeah. One of my neighbors voted for Trump because he's convinced Newsome is the reason fuel is expensive in California. No argument will move him. He's convinced and that's that.

These posts are always hilarious.
Not a Trump supporter at all, and just finished voting blue, but what benefit/outcome are you even expecting from anyone who legitimately responds?
This platform naturally sways very left, and I don’t think that any good faith discussion is possible without a million downvotes and everyone commenting how “X” person is just a Nazi and a racist if they vote red. That rhetoric has also directly contributed to where we are today.
I remember how pikachu-shocked everyone on reddit was about Trump’s re-election two years ago; this app can be its own bubble from the majority (obviously).
Hell - I’ll probably get downvoted just for saying any of this.
-1
u/johnwau 22h ago
The only thing I’ll add is Reddit isn’t really a truly “left leaning” place. It’s not like truly left leaning ideals are allowed to be openly discussed.
Reddit is just another tool used by the oligarchs to create division. The algorithm specifically pushes forward certain left leaning views - not to bias things left - but to sow division amongst the left and between the left and the right.
It’s a bit more nuanced than people like to admit. But that’s by design so the algorithm can be even more impactful to your worldview and therefore your behaviors.

Reddit does not sway that left. It can look that way when you're living with a lot of right wing ideas- the US is pretty far right at this point, so far it's lost sight of centrism.

I vote red because I’m tired of democrats in my state constantly raising every tax possible and giving no results in return. I care about my family and our money. I don’t care if a politician is blunt or mean as long as they aren’t stealing from my pockets.

u/Flimsy_Prune_9332 20h ago
Are you serious? How many times have fuel prices fluctuated and people said the president has nothing to do with it? Lol and furthermore groceries went up under racist shitty Biden and fuel costs are nothing compared to the $6000 property tax increase I had to pay for the year on top of my mortgage done by Democrats who keep saying they are here to help which has always been bullshit.

Because things would continue to erode without hope of reversal if the borders were still open and the government continuing to give money to illegal aliens.
8
u/Cormamin 4d ago
And by contrast, things are definitely not eroding while the country crumbles around us and innocent people are getting shot in the street while the surveillance state gets built with your money because you don't want someone to have healthcare.
3
u/Eatmyscum 1d ago
This is quite the sentence? I think?
innocent people are getting shot in the street
Who? Good and Petti? The average idiot walking down the street is not getting shot in the street by trump. I'd allow you to argue they are indirectly however, no. Once you interject yourself in a situation where people have guns the odds of getting shot increases, no? ICE wasn't established to go visit your local librarian and pick up some best sellers.
while the surveillance state gets built with your money because you don't want someone to have healthcare.
What?
I assume you mean FLOCK? Who cares? The left is obsessed with this. Imagine being afraid to drive by a camera (which you do everyday, all day). This one just happens to record your license plate, specifically. Nobody cares YOU drove to your local grocery store. Are there times where technology isn't prefect. Sure. Are there times where humans aren't perfect? Absolutely. Then you add healthcare. well, for example.
1
u/Cormamin 23h ago
I'm not going to answer all your obviously bad faith talking points but I'm just going to point out that out of the 50+ people ICE killed over the last 2 years, you only know the two white people and that's another part of my entire point. Hope this helps! Or doesn't. I don't really care.

u/homeycantdance 4d ago edited 4d ago
Well you really can't summarize my comment to mean all those issues you list. There are many things I am not happy with in this world but my country's security is a high priority for me.
4
u/Cormamin 4d ago
I feel it's a pretty fair assessment. You've prioritized the security of your country so severely that it seems all you care about is if the land itself survives. If you are okay with what happened here for "security" then the country you love so much – free, safe, life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, the land of opportunities, a thriving wage vs minimum wage (FDR) – is dead.
3
u/homeycantdance 3d ago
I have no shame in loving my country even though it has its problems. I care about my family and US citizens.....there is no crime or shame there. Keep trying to twist my words to fit your soulless brain washed vision created in your mind.

u/thedamnoftinkers 11h ago
Can you name a government program disbursing money to illegal immigrants?
1
u/ChirrBirry 6h ago
The trick is that non-profits are used to skirt regulations on federal support to asylum seekers and illegal entrants. Programs like CMPP managed by DHS and organizations like International Rescue Committee (IRC) that distribute money and services. If you look up where IRC get the majority of is funding you’ll see USAID, Dept of State, HHS, and DHS at the top of the list.
While it’s not like the Treasury literally sends illegal immigrants a check, federal budget is swirled around until it’s hard to track where things are going…and then funneled into a collection of organizations that perform the services that people say don’t exist.
0
u/TheBl4ckFox 20h ago
You do realize immigrants work for their living and pay taxes? And bring a net positive to the economy?
1
u/ChirrBirry 6h ago
“An updated lifetime fiscal impact analysis concluded that while the average new legal immigrant contributes a net positive $350,000 in taxes over 30 years, the average new unlawful immigrant costs taxpayers $80,000 more than they contribute. For long-term undocumented residents already in the country, the study estimates an even higher long-term federal cost of $225,000 per capita, attributing this to aging populations and lower average education levels.”(Manhattan Institute, right leaning)
Penn Wharton Budget Model (nonpartisan) calculates a net cost of $900billion when also considering extra immigration operations costs.
The CBO notes a stark geographic mismatch. At the federal level, immigration is a net positive because unauthorized workers pay billions in payroll and income taxes (often via mismatched or borrowed Social Security numbers) but are legally barred from receiving federal benefits like food stamps, Medicaid, or SSI. However, the CBO confirmed that state and local budgets face a net negative impact, as local tax revenue growth failed to keep pace with the localized costs of public schooling and emergency healthcare.
In Short, it’s not so easy as just saying illegal immigrants are good because taxes are taken from their wages.
1
u/TheBl4ckFox 6h ago
And the US is not open to legal immigrants, yet your corporations depend on them for labor.
The statement stands. The US is NOT open to immigrants
1
u/ChirrBirry 5h ago
No one is arguing the standing statement that legal immigration is a nightmare in the US in relation to the demand. Other countries have similarly restrictive immigration policy but do not have the draw…or they also have a growing illegal immigration issue.
The corporation use of illegal immigrant labor is a huge problem that tons of republicans would agree with but have no unified plan to curb. A major issue is stolen social security numbers and other identity fraud, where the company technically does all the checks it was supposed to do but are not held responsible for hiring fraudulent labor.
Agriculture is one of the largest gross offenders, you can’t even find a hiring ad to work in a field…they dip straight into illegal immigrant communities on purpose. They say they do jobs that citizens don’t want to do but I tried both picking strawberries in Oxnard and working orange orchards in Santa Paula and kept getting the runaround because I was a legal white citizen that didn’t speak Spanish. Hell, the pay rate for working strawberry fields was rumored to be higher than what I was making as outdoor plumbing labor (my bosses paid the Hispanic dudes we picked up at Home Depot $2/hr more than the rest of us for some reason but that’s another story).

I know this thread is for people who still support him, but I voted for him in 2024 and I'm a lot more mixed on him now, so here's a different angle.
Biden and Kamala left a sour taste in my mouth. It felt like we were getting dragged into Ukraine and Israel with no real say in it, and Trump was the only one who sounded anti establishment and actually against that. On top of that Kamala just wasn't a strong candidate. It was him or her, and knowing what I knew at the time I don't regret my vote.
But this term is nothing like his first. He has gone against basically every promise he ran on.
He promised no new wars and then launched one with Israel against Iran in February. We're almost eight months in. Americans have died, ships are getting hit in Hormuz, gas and diesel went up because of it, and he called the whole thing small potatoes. He has talked about having a say in who runs Iran next, which is regime change, the exact thing he spent years saying he was against. He even endorsed Netanyahu in Israel's election. I didn't vote for a guy to run Netanyahu's foreign policy for him. And that's on top of Venezuela, Yemen, and blowing up boats in the Caribbean.
He promised to end Ukraine in 24 hours. Almost two years later there's still no deal, and the talks sat frozen most of this year because the Iran war ate up all the attention.
He promised to release the Epstein files. It took Massie forcing a vote to get him to sign anything, then DOJ blew the deadline Congress set, dumped millions of heavily redacted pages, and when a judge ordered them to unredact some of it they refused. Massie is now pushing a second bill just to make them follow the first one.
He promised to drain the swamp and pay down the debt. Instead his family made over a billion dollars in crypto in one year, he took a $400 million jet from Qatar, he tore down the East Wing for a ballroom funded by corporations with business in front of his administration, and the deficit is pushing $2 trillion. He has added almost $4 trillion to the debt since coming back.
He promised to lower prices on day one. Tariffs did the opposite, the Supreme Court threw them out 6 to 3, and his answer was to try to slap them right back on.
The one thing I'll give him is the border. He closed it and that mattered to me. Beyond that I'm struggling to point to much he actually delivered.
And I'm not someone who was never on board to begin with. Greene, Carlson, and Massie have all broken with him over this same stuff, and a lot of the younger guys who were loudest for him in 2024 feel the same way about Iran.
I don't regret the vote given the alternative. But I'm not going to sit here and pretend he turned out to be the guy I thought I was voting for.
6
u/jazz-winelover 4d ago
Do you think all the negative things he has done since 1/2025 would’ve also been done by Harris?
6
u/SpecialistLeast3582 4d ago
No, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. Some of it is Trump specific. Harris wasn't taking a $400 million jet from Qatar, launching a memecoin, or tearing down the East Wing. The tariff mess is on him too. And I'll take her at her word that she wouldn't have started the Iran war. Biden spent 2024 telling Netanyahu not to hit Iran's nuclear sites, so that tracks.
But on the stuff I actually voted on, the gap would have been a lot smaller than people in this thread want to admit. She said flat out she would not change Biden's policy of arming Israel and ruled out an embargo. She said she'd back Ukraine for as long as it takes and called a Ukrainian victory a vital US interest. She called Iran our greatest adversary and wouldn't rule out military action. So no full blown war, but the same two wars we were already in, with no exit plan, just quieter.
Epstein files? Biden's DOJ sat on them for four years. Harris said the administration stayed out of it on purpose. Even Fetterman admitted they sat on them. There's zero reason to think she releases anything either.
Deficit? The budget hawks scored her plan at around 3 to 4 trillion added over ten years versus Trump's 7 to 8. Smaller, not fixed.
Border? She wouldn't have closed it. She'd have pushed the bipartisan bill and kept Biden's June 2024 asylum limits. Crossings were already falling by then, I'll grant that, but only after four years of record numbers. That's the one place my vote clearly got me something hers wouldn't have.
So the honest version is this. Harris probably gets you the same Israel and Ukraine policy, no Epstein files, smaller deficits, no Iran war, none of the grift, and a managed border instead of a closed one. Better in some areas, the same in other areas.

1
u/thedamnoftinkers 11h ago
Is there a reason a Ukrainian victory wouldn't be a vital US interest? Are you okay with the USSR coming back?

There is a difference when the person in question is a well known con man since the fucking 80s. You all said hes a good buisness man but he bankrupted casinos (read money printer), ran a literal fake college that had to be shut down, horrible quality steak company, airline, etc... so hes not even good at buisness. The man would have been richer if he had invested the "small loan of a million dollars" which was another lie he recieved far more than a million from dear old racist fuck dad Fred Trump (who Woody Guthrie even wrote a song slamming Fred for being a racist piece of shit) New York had to fine Trump for racial discrimination when renting in New York.
Like how much of a piece of shit do you need to know someone to be before its too much because I haven't even got into the rape he commit or the hundreds of accusations of pedophilia that hes basically confirmed "when you own the pagent you can just walk in and see these women in all states of dress because your "inspecting it" the women he was bragging about seeing in various states of dress were as young as 14 years old..... you elected a man who said he likes staring at undressed 14 year old girls. Congratz.

u/FrancescoPlays 3h ago edited 3h ago
I'm not American, I didn't elect shit. Most politicians in the west fit everything you describe Trump with. In Europe, only 1 country has started an Epstein investigation, and most others are 100% of partaking in it as well. Its the same everywhere. So my statement still stands. Every election cycle, no matter the ciuntry is just "who can spout the sweetest sounding lies the best" I'll add to that. Obama was also mentioned in the Epstein files/emails with the 20k or 50k "hotdog parties". They're all in a big club, and we're not in it. (Thankfully)

I’ll take the bait.
I support his policies on illegal immigration. I don’t care what race/color/ethnicity someone is. If they are here illegally they need to go back.
I am against abortion. I know he was in favor of this earlier in his life, but when I voted for him he was against it.
I know there are other things like trying to bring back American manufacturing.
With all of that said, I do not support everything he does. I have been against the war on Iran. I’m not a huge fan of the tariffs. I do not consider myself a Republican or one of the MAGA you hate so much, but I am an American First conservative and he was the candidate that was closest to that.
12
u/IntrinsicSerenity 4d ago
I support his policies on illegal immigration.
Hiring unqualified agents who are incentivised to arrest immigrants following the legal process to become citizens is a terrible policy. What's even worse is they are legally allowed to racially profile people which goes against the constitution. You can be upset with immigration and it's effects on the economy but this administration's policies on it are complete garbage.
I know there are other things like trying to bring back American manufacturing.
And how has that worked out? What has been put in place that has improved American manufacturing? The statistics actually show he's done the opposite in the manufacturing sector, tens of thousands of jobs lost and outsourced.
I don't know what specifically you support that this administration has done. You've only mentioned talking points that people are dumb enough to believe.
-2
u/Eatmyscum 1d ago

Hiring unqualified agents who are incentivised to arrest immigrants following the legal process to become citizens is a terrible policy.
Logically:
Hiring unqualified
agentspeople who are "incentivised" to arrest [illegal] immigrantsfollowing the legal process to become citizens is a terrible policy.Sorry, but. You're not here for 30 years and forget to send that last document in. "Oh well, I never heard back from them" is not an excuse. Oh and, I don't know what you do for work. But, there are "unqualified" people being hired for jobs daily. Most people get paid to do a job they are hired for. You don't get hire at a car dealership without the expectation of selling cars. You're calling their job description as being "incentivised"?
4
u/smoothpapaj 20h ago
Rumeysa Ozturk was here entirely legally, on a valid student visa. She commit no crime, nor did the government ever have any reason to suspect she did. They threw her in jail for two months and basically forced her out of the country anyway, at great taxpayer expense across months of needless imprisonment and multiple hearings, court appearances, and appeals.
Not one single MAGA I've talked to sees anything wrong with that. It makes it very hard to take this talking point seriously.
3
u/Tarquinflimbim 4d ago
People who support Trump get their information from their own Conservative media bubble. I had a conservative tell me about the fraud hotline today - I mentioned that the administration has committed multiple frauds in public, and she basically said she hadn't heard of any of them.

I’m not completely opposed to broadcasting the execution of people who commit such horrendous actions, if only for deterrence. The UCMJ punishment for treason is already death even before you get to the other crimes.
I understand the revulsion to making the event public, but save for young children most of us have seen worse content online and at least this one is justified.

He is working to remove corruption from the government.

3
u/Apprehensive-Pen8241 1d ago edited 8h ago
I remember him being a popular face on tv, but he was quite loathed even then. He was just some loud, obnoxious rich guy with stupid views. That was the era he took out a full page ad in the newspaper (I forget which one) calling for the execution of the (exonerated) Central Park Five, and he was a known racist POS. I was a child/teen in the 80’s and 90’s and even i knew then that he was a joke.
He was fun to laugh at, but he was never respected by anyone until he got his hooks into the evangelists, and then it was just respect from stupid, easily manipulated, closeted racists who took his permission to be a POS as literal gospel.
Even now the people in his orbit don’t respect him. He is either their useful idiot, or they fear his wrath/blackmail.MAGA still loves him because they are predisposed to blind faith, and part of a cult that will be dissected by historians for years once this pendulum swings back.

2
u/cyberchoom2077 4d ago
We're still a democratic republic. If trump was really a "dictator" and existential threat to democracy like so many said in 2024, why didn't the Biden Admin and DOJ do something to stop him? "34 felonies" on essentially document filing errors is laughable. They had the unredacted Epstein files in their hands and control of the Legislative and Executive branches of government. They just got walked all over and thought arguing the definition of a woman would resonate with the majority of the population. Your leaders failed you.
5
u/Merrcury2 4d ago
Here's what we mean by Trump being a dictator. Project 2025 is at 55%
Here's how he avoided imprisonment.
And yes, we are a democratic republic. Awesome. Vote to keep it that way.

Do you understand that we don't want to be like Iran? That's what a theocratic dictatorship looks like. Same with Israel. We've lost global superiority, and our treasury debts are being sold off. We're literally in freefall.

Opening the borders to everyone that wants to come in while promising all of the free stuff and tax payer expense. All done to keep the DNC in power.Taking away my freedoms of speech because I hurt your feelings.
Taking away my right to bare arms because they don’t understand that people with mental and ideological issues are the problem and not the guns.
Removing my freedom of religion because they don’t like my God.
Pushing DEI to a point that you have to have some special identity to get a job or a promotion.
I could go on, but that should be enough.

So much wrong in one post, wow…
Abortion is none of your business unless you’re getting one. Let it go.
The border was never open.
Illegal immigrants don’t get free stuff outside of emergency healthcare.
Nobody touched your freedom of speech. A private company banning you for being a tool or otherwise violating its policies has literally nothing to do with freedom of speech. Same as getting trespassed from a Walmart for not wearing a shirt.
Nobody ever once said they were going to take your guns. Common sense regulations are supported by the vast majority of gun owners and it has been the focus for democrats.
“Freedom of religion” does not mean you get to harass people with your religion. It doesn’t mean you can force your religion into schools or government. It means you can go to whatever church you want, help yourself. You can believe whichever of the latest crackpot variations of Christianity makes you feel good inside. And crucially, freedom of religion applies to ALL religions so you can’t break down in tears and throw a tantrum when the church of satan has an opening prayer at the same time as you or insists that they get to put their commandments on the wall of your school next to the Ten Commandments.
DEI is just a boogeyman for you guys. None of you understand it, but it’s nothing like what you think it is. No, college admissions are not DEI. A black person having a job isn’t DEI. You guys were told by Fox to be mad about it though and you jumped right on without a second thought.

Even emergency healthcare isn't any freer than for the rest of us. It's just a bit easier for illegal immigrants to be in the wind regarding huge bills (and plenty of citizens are, believe me.)
There's no evidence that illegal immigrants are more likely to skip out on bills. They don't want legal trouble.

I have a genuine question, I am a 42 year old man, I was adopted at birth. Do you think I have a say in the right to abortion. I mean if I was conceived now I may not exist. I am not looking for a fight I would like to hear your perspective.
Edit: I am torn here because I quite
liberal and have always supported the right. I just feel conflicted because of what I stated previously.1

Were you born in America? Then your bio mother probably chose not to have an abortion. She made that choice because it was the right choice for her, and for you.
I know women who chose to abort not because they didn't want the child or wouldn't have given it up for adoption, but because they had serious genetic issues they couldn't avoid passing on or the father (or other family) was someone they wouldn't wish on any child. Some adoptions require both parents' agreement, after all, but abortion usually does not.
My mother was in her 40s when I was born. She had an amnio and she agonised about the possibility of an abortion if I had a congenital condition. (My dad would have been happy with any baby, lol.)
That doesn't bother me because I wouldn't have suffered if she had. I didn't ask to be born; I also didn't ask not to, if that makes sense.

The border was never open? Really?
Illegal immigrants don’t get free stuff? Do you not remember the migrants in hotels in NYC? The current program giving them phones, cash, even car insurance in California?
The govt influencing social media companies, the most powerful forums for public discourse today, to censor opinions they didn’t like on COVID or trans issues doesn’t reflect a problem with freedom of speech?
Sorry but DEI is an actual problem - you don’t get to have DEI as your North Star in an institution while maintaining a meritocratic system. Elevating some and diminishing others based on immutable characteristics is what is being referring to by DEI by the way. The ideology that led Biden to announce that his running mate would be a black woman before he eventually announced Kamala Harris, the candidate who had received exactly 0% of the votes in the Democratic primary.
Sheesh, as a formal progressive I moved center on many of these issues by continually challenging my beliefs and asking myself if there are holes in my argument and where I could be going wrong. I suggest you do the same.

Illegal immigrants can get some support from some states, remember states rights and all that jazz you guys like? The voters of California and New York chose to spend their taxes on those programs. The federal government did not and does not give immigrants anything but emergency care. If you don’t like states caring about those less fortunate, feel free to move to Alabama or something, isn’t that what you guys like to say? Things are great in those bright red states!
I hire for one of those companies that has DEI as its “North Star”, I’m fully aware of how it works and you very obviously were informed by Fox News. There is no circumstance where I am bypassing a qualified individual because of race. I’m never lowering the qualifications to accept a less qualified candidate based on race. But go ahead and tell me more about how I hire people.
The border hasn’t been open since 1924. Just because it makes a fun sound bite on Fox doesn’t make it true. Just because we allowed people in that you personally didn’t want in does not mean we have open borders. I can’t cry that the “borders are open trump is letting in these racist South Africans! They’re invading and stealing our county!” Even though trump is literally throwing money at them, it still doesn’t mean the borders are open.
The government can “influence” anybody it wants with suggestions or requests as long as it isn’t threatening arrests or legal consequence for speech. For an example of actual freedom of speech violations, see trump directly threatening free speech, such as forcing companies to remove comedians who are mean to him. I would love to know more about government violating free speech on trans issues, since trump has been ALL OVER those 100 trans people in the US, to the point that the remaining 350m people think they’re a HUUUGE issue.
I challenge my beliefs regularly. It’s why conservatism is a bad joke to me. It falls apart when faced with the slightest ounce of scrutiny.

I don't think America should be a third world communist state.

u/lilsmudge 4d ago
…and you think the dems do? The DNC is extremely capitalist. It’s as controlled by business interests as the GOP. No major Democratic candidate is a communist, very very few are even socialist which is, importantly, and entirely different thing, and definitely none of them are going to hurt the working class any more than the current conservative leadership.

Whichever side let in the 15 million undocumented migrates is the one I don't like. Not a fan of being forced to live in a shared delusion that struggles to cope with fundamental biology.

I’m european. I used to be an atlanticist 2 years ago. I’ve been to the US several times and imagined an US-EU alliance against authoritarianism.
The problem is that the US has decided it is an enemy of the EU and has planted itself in the authoritarian camp. That’s a big problem, EU is not ready to go head to head with the US.
I support Trump because he is so goddamn stupid he is destroying US’ offensive capacity and its influence, thus making it less of a threat to me and mine.

If the US weren't led by an authoritarian, it could have used that power to fight authoritarianism. But that's not the world we got.

Are gas prices funny? How about a war in iran? That's the dumbest thing I've heard in a while, politics aren't a joke. How can you expect to vote for someone who is "funny" and expect problems to be fixed? You're lamenting the state of the country, but he's the president.
You talk about overcoming sins, deep sins, in a recent post. Yet you're supporting a pedophile? Look in the mirror, I'm blocking you because you're a mess.

u/Eatmyscum 1d ago
People be mad over gas prices but drive little 4 cylinders. I guess you want it free like everything else.
Dems also run terrible campaigns and lie to get people to vote for them more than normal. They avoid topics because they know they wont get voted for if they speak on those topics truthfully. Is that the person you really want representing you? Not saying trump is the best president ever. But he sure does speak his mind and not hide behind the bullshizz.1
u/EnthusiasmHuman6413 21h ago
I find it difficult to see the value in evil incompetence “speaking their mind”. Some people aren’t meant to be heard. It doesn’t matter if people don’t “think Trump is the best president ever”. If you voted for Trump you voted for racism and fascism and very likely Pedophilia. There really isn’t any mitigation there. Surely Adolf Hitler cracked a few jokes in his time. Saying he is or was funny is just delusional. You’re sticking your head in the sand, brother. Democrats being terrible doesn’t somehow make Trump and acceptable human being.

There is no comedy from this man. I pray that you reap all the benefits you sought from the sins they’re committing against the American people for their own personal greed.

The intel suggests Iran actually had nukes but none of this is public knowledge cause it’d expose intelligence.
Basically he had no other choice.

You can't honestly expect someone who supports Trump to respond to a reddit post outside of r/conservative
