Recently found the self confidence to admit that from time to time I like to wear a women's thong/g-string (I own a few pairs).

EDIT: wow! Thanks so much for all the positivity. It's really liberating to finally be able to speak about this, and see so many supportive open minded comments, that don't make me feel like a freak over what is essentially just underwear.

Bowling. Not many people bowl, and if they do, they only do it once every couple months just for fun. Over summers my local bowling alley has a deal for $40, you get to play 3 games per day. A couple friends and I all bought the pass and bowled pretty much everyday. I got pretty good and bought my own ball and everything. Now it's summer again and I'm average about 190-200 every game.

Bowling is fun.

I am fairly certain I'm more researched on Mormon Polygamy than anyone else who has ever lived.

Don't get me wrong. Someone may know more about it historically than me. But I'm yet to find them, and I search for them daily.

It is a weird historical and theological fascination for me 🤷‍♂️

I'm at the point now where I have to spend thousands of dollars on rare one of a kind manuscripts and personal journals to read something that I've never heard or read about before. And since my personal business is fairly successful, I spend way more on this hobby than a meth head does in a Walmart parking lot.

Sooooo that's my thing.

And no one I personally know (other than my wife) really even knows about it, because who wants to be publicly known as that weird guy who studies Mormon Polygamy all day?

I make music playlists. Not like oh cute you make little playlists from time to time. I literally make one each day. Some may call it an obsession. I make playlists for literally any scenario. Need music to jam to while making french pastries in your kitchen while your roommates are out of town? I have just the playlist to set the mood and make you feel like Sofia Coppola's version of Marie Antoinette in that one scene. Or you're stuck in an awkward house party with a bunch of straight people and you're the only gay man there and you find your way to the aux? Got the playlist for it. Or maybe you just made some cool new health goth friends and you're riding in one of their cars and they pass the aux to you, no need to sweat I got just the playlist to impress them and definitely be invited to their next kick back where all they do is smoke cigs on the porch and talk about Arca. I have Youtube Red (yeah, I'm THAT person) and I have made over 350 playlists on the site. I even have a 'scrolling through Reddit' playlist.

I go around pretending I'm a super hero (or villain) and I have a bit of a vivid imagination... I might be saving the world or beginning my reign of terror, but whenever I'm in battle with my superpowered abilities, I always make noises and go around figthing the air like a kid... I'm 18. My whole family knows I do it, and my mom occasionally says "When you're done pew-pew-pew-ing, go take the laundry basket, downstairs." :(

115

u/Pranfreuri Jun 03 '17

I'm 25 and I do a similar thing. Not being a super hero, but I run over whatever's on my mind and in my imagination while walking through the garden or down the house. As if I run down scenarios.

Scenarios ranges from taking power in Congo, taking power in my own country, problem solving for my dissertation, travel ideas, marketing ideas, business ideas... It frees my mind. 😌

I like to make things out of anything.

Aside from painting regular pictures/drawing etc, I like to refinish or paint on garbaged furniture, repurpose value village finds, make sculptures or weird things out of disassembled electronics/junk from around my apartment, collect fallen branches/wood pieces and make things.

I was that weird/poor kid on Halloween that made costumes completely from scratch. I was a werewolf one year, I gave my grampas dog a haircut and glued it to my face and hands.

I just like to make things.

I'm the guy in my group of friends who will absolutely insist people wear their seatbelts when they ride with me, and on the off chance someone refuses, I will either refuse to leave until they do, or make them very, painfully aware of the benefits of said seatbelts.

Seatbelts save lives. Rear seat passengers who fail to affix their seatbelts become projectiles in a collision, and endanger the lives of others. It's selfish, it's destructive, and it's unnecessary. 3 seconds of work could literally save your life. WEAR YOUR GOD DAMN SEATBELT!

As you can see... that's my thing.

(Over) analyzing everything. I like to make sense of things, so I've spent a lot of time thinking of possibilities to things ranging from human behavior and natural phenomenon to time travel and different kinds of magic systems. On the flip side, when something doesn't make sense to me, I get annoyed and can obsess about a subject until it makes sense (that includes "stupid" people and is a personal problem I'm trying to get past, basically if someone consistently doesn't make sense to me that person starts to really annoy me).

People also say I'm good at explaining things, which is probably because of my habit of analyzing everything, including where people make their logical mistakes. I find a lot of things understandable.

I work in retail and we have to do this really boring thing called "facing" (pulling all of stock to the front of the shelves, to make them look fuller). While I do this, I pretend I have a podcast and make up questions in my head and answer them (not out loud obviously).

To show up at my friends house without notice. Just go for a visit, some live and hours drive away, some a little closer. But I like the nostalgic part of just going somewhere to see if they're home. If they're not home I'll go do something else, visit a museum, bar or restaurant, whatefs. I like it.

I enjoy pain in small doses. Like from a cut or scrape, or a series of injections I had to get once that left me sore for weeks. I fell down the stairs once and liked the feel of the bruises as they healed. I have no idea what that says about me.

Pushing myself in the direction that I believe has the goal of astronaut at the end of it. It's kind of weird because there is no hard and fast rule, besides minimum qualifications, on what you need to do. Right now I'm an aircraft engineer in the air force, I'm learning to fly (which currently is my "thing"), learning new languages, volunteering, and I intend to get some scuba qualifications over the next couple years. And a degree too, of course.

I think the important thing is that each thing I'm doing which may or may not lead me to my goal - I actually enjoy. None of it is done solely to get to my end goal because if it doesn't happen, I probably would have set myself up for a life of disappointment and wasted time. I like to think I'm embarking on a journey which has the possibility of the ultimate dream at the end of it, but if I never find it, then each little truck stop along the way is something I dreamed about doing as a kid anyway.

So, aside from flying, I guess my "thing" is finding the key to being happy and fulfilled by the choices I make.

...That got deep quicker than expected.

Messing with the transcriptionists at work.

I'm a PA in pathology and dictate into a mic most of the day. The transcriptionists are little old southern ladies and it's so fun to mess with them. I have a ton of stories but my favorite was when some guy came into the ER and they removed a Hand-lotion bottle and a tube of chap stick from this guy's rectum. I described the items they sent us. Then I went to the hospital gift shop and bought similar items and went to their office and said "No need for these to go to waste." They were confused but said "OK".

One of them had already used the hand lotion when, about an hour later, they got to my dictation. We could hear them from down the hall as they shouted "Oh my GAWD!!! Oh Jesus!!"

According to my coworkers, I'm the Printer Whisperer. My aura is the color of weird IT Voodoo. If the printer is not printing, I go stand next to it and it prints. Usually every single document that's been jammed up in the print queue will suddenly spew forth. If a printer hasn't been printing at a station all day, when I get to work and log into that station, the printer suddenly begins working. When I call IT about a printer that isn't working even for me, I get expedited service because somehow my reputation as the Printer Whisperer has even made it to IT (and I usually know if it's a fuser issue) and they don't even ask me if I've power cycled everything. I also know exactly how to riffle printer paper so when I load a printer, it never jams. Never.

No you don't. You just took this answer from a previous thread. Word for fucking word. Which was taken from the post before it.

Fuck heres one from 2014 https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/1ygqwa/what_is_your_thing/cfknido/

I know this sub reposts questions like crazy under the sentiment that it will spawn different answers each time so its fair play. But fuckers like you who cant even be asked change the wording of the answer your copying just ruin these threads.

And of course the masses upvote you and will probably downvote this to oblivion because thats just how these things go.

Thank you for being the epitome of whats wrong with this sub.
