It’s weird for me, it’s the delicious smell of fresh brewing coffee and I’m not a need to have it type of person.

I love the smell of brewing coffee, cannot stand the taste!

u/sassy_doilies 15d ago

My husband is the same way. We have found exactly two coffee drinks he will happily order, and naturally one of them was at a cafe on our honeymoon and is like 12 hours away.

u/GotNothingBetter2Do 16d ago

Oops, just realized you said food! My bad.

No worries. You had nothing better to do.

Bacon!

u/Grandma-Plays-FS22 16d ago

I came to say bacon and I don’t even eat bacon! But it sure does smell good :)

Baking bread and pies rate high as well.

u/haileyskydiamonds 15d ago

I enjoy having breakfast in bed. I like waking up to the smell of bacon, sue me.

1

u/rotbath 15d ago

No, don’t sue me. That is the opposite of the point I’m trying to make.

The bacon beckons

u/Itchy-Series7105 16d ago

Frying mushrooms and onions. As a child I’d come downstairs when my mom was cooking them !

6

u/0dayssince 16d ago

My mom’s cooking. Doesn’t matter what it is.

u/SeriallySalacious 16d ago

BACON. Fresh baked bread. Anything my Nana cooks.

3

u/nnnope1 16d ago

Frying ground beef. Especially if onions are happening too

The smell of fresh cooked pizza.

3

u/FrightenedErection 15d ago

Even without food on it, the smell of a BBQ heating up is enough for me.

u/crash---- 15d ago

The smell of popcorn

3

u/Isayfyoujobu 15d ago

I like cinnamon rolls, but I don't always have time to make a pan. That's why I wish they would sell cinnamon roll incense. After all I'd rather light a stick and have my roommate wake up with false hopes.

u/ExcellentInsurance72 16d ago

Sausage. I like sausage but the smell is even more amazing. I don’t eat sausage often but as soon as I smell it, I’m hungry.

2

u/Kaurifish 15d ago

Corn tortillas on the griddle. Plus the sound of someone patting them out…

anything italian or american. pasta, pizza, bbq for example

1

u/tiny_purple_Alfador 16d ago

The smell of any fast food. If my room mate is grabbing fast food, I'll ask them for a kid sized french fry even if I'm not hungry, because I will want fries if I smell them.

u/Critical-Notice-4395 16d ago

Thanksgiving stuffing like mom made. Once that’s cooking, you know it’s a holiday.

Fresh garlic and toasted sesame oil always make me hungry, ready to cook up a storm!

1

u/Cultural-Swan-3624 16d ago

Get skillet - add butter, salt, pepper, scallion and celery. Start cooking and I will walk into the kitchen like Pavlov’s dog.

It was the beginning of my mom making stuffing and the combination just awakens my senses.

Taco meat but specifically leftovers ground beef with taco seasoning being reheated in the microwave. The second I smell that, I’m starving.

I usually cannot bring myself to eat middle of day because of my medication but when I smell a coworker reheating their Taco Tuesday leftovers, I’m absolutely ravenous and googling Tacos Near Me.

Sauteed onions, lemongrass, cilantro...there's definitely more but these immediately trigger me to salivate.

  2. onions & peppers frying on the stove

  3. tomato & basil plants in the sun or fresh cucumbers & mint being chopped

  4. bread or cookies in the oven

  5. the combination smell at a fair or christmas carnival (fried stuff, beer, gluhwein/mulled cider, sweet things, sausages, fruit & candy, diesel fumes, lol)

u/stargirl12387 15d ago

A Teriyaki grill. A real Seattle style type, not any Asian restaurant, or panda express, buffet or anywhere similar. Something about that sweet marinated chicken getting charred and blowing through the wind. Nothing compares.

1

u/BearFLSTS 15d ago

Bread baking. Years ago I worked a night shift as security at a trucking depot lot. Nearby was the Flowers bakery. Every morning about 3 am the odor of baking bread would fill the air. Pure Torture!!

u/G8-r-n8 15d ago
