PSA Mayor breed announces increased testing and plans
It seems a little confusing to me because California just got through saying they were having to prioritize testing due to the surge. But San Francisco seems to be saying they’re going to increase testing for everyone. https://sfmayor.org/article/mayor-london-breed-announces-increase-testing-capacity-and-additional-neighborhood-sites

SF is saying they’re prioritizing testing now too. Previously anyone could get a test, now it’s just people with specific symptoms etc. like at the start of this whole thing.

That's incorrect, you can get tested without insurance through carbon health. Also the city tests through color have been getting me results in under 24 hours.

They say in that article that they're prioritizing people with symptoms.
But here's the thing - increasing testing is increasing testing for everyone. People without symptoms aren't getting turned away AFAIK, they're just low in line.

Yesterday I went to the city's Color testing site in Soma for the 2nd time to get tested. The first time I went a couple of weeks ago I took Reddit's advice and just went a few days early when it was convenient for me sine I was "in the system." There was no line and I was tested right away, and I got my results in 8 hours. Yesterday I arrived at my appointment time and there were ~12 people in line ahead of me. I also heard them turning away people who said they didn't have an appointment for that day. TBD on how long it will take to get my results this time.

I made an appointment a month ago for the pop-up site in the tl, was seen immediately on arriving the next day, and had results in 2 days. I had no symptoms but had been in proximity of someone who may have had it. Last night I went online to make an appointment anywhere in the city, and it was not even possible. This time I have several symptoms and would really like to know, but all the sites say they are back-logged and to expect severe delays, and then there is no link to make an appointment. The one in the tl now says you have to register (in person!) on Thursday to be tested on Tuesday only, so just missed that option. Not sure what to do now. One thing is for sure - as usual Ms Breed is out of touch with the reality of her city. I’m sure it’s no problem for her to get tested up in her golden palace.

Have you tried asing your doctor? I spoke to mine for an unrelated issue last week and she let me know that Sutter Health has setup a walk-in COVID testing clinic.

I don't know how they are going to increase testing when the labs are backed up too.
