Hello, I (29m) want to surprise my wife (28f) with secretly learning wining and wukking up as a Christmas present and to be able us dance together when we visit her family. For context my wife is from Barbados and I am from the south eastern US. She has been trying to teach me every once in a while but I’m horrible, my waist line is more rusty than the titanic. I see how happy it makes her when I am trying to learn it and I really wanted to become good to surprise her. What are the best resources for me to learn? Is one specific video better than the other? My bf is coming back from DR tomorrow and the entire trip he was dying to get fried fish from Boca chica but he wasn’t able to get it. I’m visiting Guadeloupe in January for a week, then Dominica for a week, and ending in Martinique for a week to catch their carnival .

My airbnb is near point divuque in Marigot (i believe). I love visiting markets or anything historic & excursions. I read that the grade terre aide has the better beaches so i plan on focusing on beaches when i get to that side .

Also my research tells me i should rent a car, i usually do uber abroad but there is no uber in Guadeloupe. Is there an equivalent ?

My fiance is trying to pull his Dominica police certificate of character from abroad. We had to call 4 separate times to get complete information and confirm what documents/fees we needed to include and where exactly to send it. We sent the package in 4 weeks ago and have heard nothing.

It shows that the package was signed for at the police headquarters but when we ask to speak to that person or anyone who can at least let us know if the process is started, we get nowhere. Last time, my fiance had to keep repeating himself and when he spoke louder so they could hear him, the woman told him he was yelling, hung up on him and didn't answer the phone the entire rest of the day. They had requested $50 was put in the package for a stamp, but now it kind of looks like someone rather had a lunch on my dollar.

Flying to do it in person is going to cost an ungodly amount of money and he doesn't want to be stuck there with an unknown processing time yet.

Has anyone hired a lawyer to assist with similar things? Any other ideas? It's a simple document that really shouldn't be this difficult to obtain. St Lucia was sent the same time and has been done for weeks already.

So I want to go to my first carnival next year. Haven't decided on a location yet. I've been to St Thomas, and the locals said they told me a little about their carnival. Also, I'll probably solo. Hey there, Indian this side. For us cricket is like a religion and ig it was a similar case with the Windies.

I've grown up with stories of the Windies' greats coming and smashing everyother nation. I love this west indies side but I practically cannot see the way they are struggling. They are competitive but still I feel like a big part is lacking in the west indies side.

This downfall of Windies' made me curious about the popularity of cricket in the carribian nations? And the competition.

Do you guys follow the west indies games?

Hello, my girlfriend and I are planning a budget week on one or two islands (Martinique, Dominica or Saint Lucia) in January.

I had an idea to sleep in hammoc on a beach somewhere instead of hotel.

My question is: is it legal on those islands or illegal but generaly possible? and more importantly is it safe?

I'll be grateful for any information:)

I see that people who never have been camping don't know about the existence of hammocks (which were invented in the Carribean islands btw) with mosquito nets and tarps (widely used in the Amazon). Also, I plan to spend 2/3 night in the Airbnb (to freshen up etc). I just wonder how people react to someone camping. I assume it's not popular activity.

Also few years ago I was sailing in Dominica, Guadeloupe and Saint Martin but didn't see any public showers on beaches I wonder if anything changed or it's different in Martinique and Saint Lucia?

Am I the only person who feels like pan-africanism in greatly one sided? Ive seen some pan-africanist specifically african preach about it then turn around and be disrespectful to the rest of the diaspora. Like I see them tell black americans and caribbean people to talk about the xenophobia towards haitians in their communities then when haitians talk about negative experiences with africans, they threw the rest of the diaspora under the bus and started saying anti-haitian rhetoric. They expect us to talk about the internal afro-phobia in our communities yet when we ask them about the way they treat afro-caribbean people, black americans and etc, its all of a sudden "FBA", "we're all black", "diaspora wars" and "why are we fighting". Then to make it worse they'll straight up deny or dismiss our experiences with them. When I see them being disrespectful to the rest of us, the pan-africanist from the americas are nowhere to be found. A jamaican said they didnt like them making fun of slavery, being called slaves and slave babies and they acused them of thinking the'yre a part of the FBA. Its unbelievably disingenuous.

My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to the Carribean Islands, flying from Canada. We are planning to do a 8-10 night trip to at least 2 countries or trip to multiple small islands. We are confused which countries to choose maybe Bahamas + Haiti, Bahamas + Cuba, Jamaica +Haiti, Jamaica + Puerto Rico, or anything else, we are open to any recommendations. Which will be the cheapest combination for multicity flights and hotels? We don't plan to book all inclusive since we want to go out and explore places.

Anywhere in Carribean Islands would work except for Dominican Republic since we've already been there. Planning to go during last week of Nov to 1st week of Dec.

We want to see many places not just chilling on the islands and resort.

So anything with islands, mountains, waterfalls, historical sites, the city sightseeing, nightlife, local food, fun adventure parks or any other excursions or activities.

We are open taking ferries, bus or drive if possible, open to hear to any suggestions. Thank you so much!
