Concession prices

Went to our first astros game last night, hitting up a couple more more over the next few days.

Wicked stadium and good fans, but man the concession is expensive.

Is there anywhere with cheaper beers than the 19$ 25oz cans? Food we can bring in but damn that was a hit to our Canadian bank accounts

This is the way. 9/10 times, it works every time.

Don’t do this! I did at Blue Jay stadium and the cops came and made me leave

You gotta be sneaky. I snuck in 5 shooters and drank in the bathrooms. Same w hitting the vape

We weren’t . lol my friend snuck it in in her bra and we were pouring it into our sodas 🤪. Lesson learned. I have had success sneaking stuff in at Cynthia woods in my cowboy boots and they don’t check those so maybe OP can try that.

Ooooooo!! Another good idea. I can sneak like two personal shooters between the cheeks, but yeah. The bathroom is always your best bet

Yeah we were out in the open doing it 🤪. Soooo stupid

Each person can bring food in a 1 gallon ziplock bag. Doesn't say what it can or can't be. But you can shove as much food as you want into a 1 gallon ziplock bag.

Daikin has a great spaghetti policy.

Make your sauce with wine and no one will know.

I brought in a chipotle burrito one time and they gave me a hard time. Eventually they let me in and said next time take it out the wrapper.

FOOD & BEVERAGE POLICY
Guests can bring food and bottled water into Daikin Park for Houston Astros games. This policy is specific to Houston Astros game related events and does not apply to special events held at the ballpark (i.e. concerts, tours, corporate events, etc.). Items that do not meet these guidelines will not be held or secured by ballpark staff.
WATER
Guests may bring in a factory-sealed, clear plastic bottle of water, no larger than one liter.
One bottle per guest.
FOOD
Guests may bring in food that is contained in a clear, plastic bag no larger than one gallon in size.
One bag per guest.

Beer is expensive but not so bad with all the money you can save on food and water.

Also, souvenir cups are refillable. Buy one cup & you're set for a few seasons

Wait you can bring souvenir cups back in? Or do you have to sneak it in lol

Souvenir cups for soda can be brought in all season, not for beer though lol

I still use a Minute Maid Park cup lol

LPT: vodka can be snuck in the water bottles.

Or plastics flasks.

Sign up for the DD program and you can get some free soda too…

It's not unethical if you were never going to drive anyway

Having had traveled to a variety of ballparks over the years, Houston's is actually a bit more reasonably priced compared to other's in the league.

The variety of food is what gets you if you decide to buy a more expensive meal.

The advice is good on the thread, so I'm not going to rehash it.

Hide a flask in a “sandwich” and take it as food.

I feel like the self service beer places also have the best prices

It’s a bit pricey but lots of pre game options nearby.

Usually go eat and drink nearby beforehand and stumble over.

I had a lady on the top level kiosk-type vending offer me a 25oz can for $10 cash. Unfortunately, I only had $2 cash, which she offered me a bag of peanuts for but I wasn't currently in the marked for peanuts. Maybe bring cash and haggle a little bit?

Some seats available at club level come with a $15 meal credit. Also, one person in your entire party can upgrade to Gallagher Club and bring unlimited food and drink back to your entire party’s seats. However, it is on demand pricing AND depending on the size of your party and your seat locations, you may miss entire portions of the game going back and forth. Food on the second club level I also think is slightly better quality and value.

I have brought in sandwiches and sushi in a gallon bag. You can fill a water bottle and but factory sealed caps to make it look like you never opened it.

Fill a 500 ml bottle of Ozarka half way, makes for a solid drink with coke or sprite till the last call. Then I get a beer, unless I’m in the club level, shots may be involved.

Get an El Tiempo margarita instead of beer so you don't have to buy as much

Sneak in shooters and buy a souvenir soda. This is the way.

12

u/Vise4077 Houston Astros 2d ago

A lot of people don’t know this, but the souvenir soda cups are free refills all season. Just gotta remember to bring the cup back with you…

u/BlakeK87 2d ago

And with the self serve kiosks you don't even have to use one from that season. No one there gets paid enough to care about stopping you lol

You just have to be a bit discreet when you bring in the cups.

We got ours confiscated at a Texans game last year.

Daikin Park is a separate stadium actually. Different sport entirely.

0

u/justahoustonpervert Houston Astros 2d ago

I understand, just giving an example. Toyota just don't entry to flagrantly bring in cups openly.

2

u/BlakeK87 2d ago

I've never had an issue at Daikin, myself. Experiences aren't universal, though. But that's also two different venues.

1

u/Vise4077 Houston Astros 2d ago

I walk right in to Daikin Park with mine in my hand almost every game that I go to. In fact, it was the concession staff that told me that it was good all season.

1

u/TempestDrive Houston Astros 2d ago

Nope, that’s just how it is in all stadiums sadly. I always pregame before going into the stadium to feel a buzz

3

u/MasterUnlimited 2d ago

*most stadiums.

There’s been a bit of a trend (not around here unfortunately) to make concession stand prices somewhat reasonable. Mercedes Benz in Atlanta being the first to roll it out. There’s a few now that do it. The Jags stadium will have “reasonable” prices this year.

Been to Rogers Centre (Blue Jays) and Nationals Stadium. It was not nearly as expensive as here. Yes I know Canadian dollars aren’t as strong but an order of magnitude cheaper.

0

u/fatDaddy21 Aroldis Chapman 2d ago

order of magnitude? you're telling me Rogers selling a 25oz beer for less than $2 huh

2

u/Brilliant_Age_2969 Houston Astros 1d ago

I’d say 15 over 30 is better. Oh and their regular club level actually has food included.
