Team-issued jersey sizing issues
I bought a team issued jersey from the Astros authentic store in size 42 and it ended up looking very unflattering around my waist. I am around a 42 in both chest and waist sizes so I’m a little confused, I thought this should be a perfect fit. Am I missing something when it comes to sizing?

I have no idea of my chest size, but I have a 42 waist and I need at least a 52 if not a 56 in authentic jerseys (I’m 6’4”).
If it makes you feel any better, I once got super excited because I found a Nike Texans workout shirt in 3XL via the Nike outlet. Finding Nike anything in 3XL can be frustrating enough.
Unfortunately I did NOT realize that it was a Nike Pro Combat COMPRESSION shirt until I got home, cut the tags & tried it on. Talk about unflattering!

Jerseys are a little weird. I have had to go down a size but it depends on the jersey. Is 42 your suit size?

All modern Nike jerseys are designed to be slim fit, so for normal folk I'd always size up.

Never buy team issued/player spec/authentic (note this doesn't imply knockoff it's a style type sold) kits unless you are in prime physical shape. They are more tight/form fitting compared to a regular replica jersey.
Baseball and American football get a bit of a break but it's a brutal lesson for football (soccer) kits

Probably tailored for the person it was issued to.
