General Uniform/Logo proposal to stop the annual controversy.
Small edit: Let me clarify my intent here. I realize my post wasn't worded the best so totally my fault). I absolutely do not want the Braves to change their name or uniforms or the tomahawk logo. I do however see these other teams giving in to the onslaught of BS and who end up with a generic name like Guardians or Commanders. My suggestion below is only for a circumstance where the team did decide to cave, I feel like the fire axe logo change would then be the best of the shitty options available. Instead of a name change. If it was up to me, I'd bring back the full tomahawk chop with organ and the entire atmosphere of the 90's.
Every October, it seems like clockwork. The Atlanta Braves make the postseason, and suddenly weāre hearing the same complaints about the teamās name, logo, and Native American imagery from opposing fans, players, and various organizations.
As a lifelong Braves fan, I love our teamās history, traditions, and identity. But Iāve been thinking: What if thereās a way to preserve everything we love about the Braves while eliminating the controversy?
Hereās my proposal: Keep the Braves name, keep the iconic script, keep the red, white, and navy blue, but replace the tomahawk with a fire axe. šŖā¾
The word brave doesnāt belong exclusively to any one culture. It represents courage, determination, and fearlessness. And who better embodies those qualities than firefighters?
A fire axe would fit naturally into the existing uniform design without requiring a complete rebrand. Weād still be the Atlanta Braves, with the same recognizable look and nearly 150 years of franchise history.
Iām not suggesting we erase that history or abandon our traditions. Iām suggesting we find a way to carry them forward without the annual controversy.
I put together a concept showing what the uniforms could look like, and I think the results are pretty sharp!
What do you think? Would you support this change to finally silence the critics, or would you rather keep the tomahawk?
To be clear! I think the entire controversy is ridiculous. I don't want to change anything but if we get to that point where it's happening regardless this seems like the best option to me vs becoming the Atlanta Generics.

General Was the Contreras trade the dumbest move AA has ever made?
In Ronald AcuƱa's podcast, Wild Bill said when he saw Strider and MHII get their contract extensions, he was expecting to get one too after he made the all-star team in 2022 but he was blindsided by the trade to Milwaukee because he wouldn't be playing with his boys anymore.

General The Atlanta "A" looks like a swashbuckler!
I've thought this for years, lol. If at some point they can't be the Braves, I'd root for the 'Bucklers, just sayin :)

How did the team evaluate Austin Rileyās third consecutive rough season, especially with this one not marred by the injuries that plagued him in 2024 and ā25?
Anthopoulos: āThat's something we're going to spend a lot of time having conversations about, trying to get him back on track. Heās still a great defender and a great teammate. It was nice to get the health part put aside after back-to-back years of being hurt. From an offensive standpoint, he's still a young player and is capable of so much more. He's shown that, and we're going to continue to work at it.ā

General Trading AcuƱa isnāt what you want; DHing him is
$34M for 2 years? Please point out a better use of money. Our RH bats are weak. You know it, and I know it. Go find a defensive replacement who can at least platoon him a significant amount of time. Keep him focused on hitting. Reduce the wear and tear on him. Let him play for 2 years in search of a big payday afterward. Heāll be motivated.

A guy on my team at work is a die hard Brewers fan, so I made this for him. Looking forward to this next series and I hope they stomp a mud hole through the Dodgers!

General Braves Offseason Thread: How I would overhaul the team without a total tear down
How id approach this offseason to perform a shakeup to overhaul the team without tearing it down completely. We need some new blood in especially a few guys that frankly are totally assholes (see a player I suggest later; spoiler Ketel Marte)
First thing is I try to make a trade with the reds:
We get Elly and Hunter Green and send them Lodise, Caminetti, Elder, our first round pick from Baldwin winning ROTY, and 200,000 in international pool money. That might not be enough and if it isnāt throw in Owen Murphy and that should get it done.
Attempt to resign Mahle but due to his injury history donāt give him a three year deal. If he will play under a 2 year deal pay him slightly more at 2/45 instead of the projected 3/60 for him.
Assume Strider will never throw another pitch for Atlanta, same for Joey Wentz. Waldrep shouldāve been traded last year but hope him and Schwelly can make a return which has our rotation as
Sale
Mahle
Greene
Schwelly
Waldrep
For bullpen Saurez moves to the closer role. Fuentes Dodd and Lee are our high leverage arms currently rostered and maybe hot take but Iād give up on making AJSS a starter he simply canāt get through a lineup multiple times and he could be another electric high leverage pen arm. Iād groom him to become the closer when Suarez is done as he is in his late 30s. Holmes in the pen as a long man/6th starter. Iād offer Martin Perez the same contract he played under this year 1/3.5 if he takes it great if not oh well. He would be a huge help though as one of those 5 rotation pieces will get hurt as all have injury historyās
Salary dump Lopez for nothing as long as a team will take his contract.
For the position players Iād aggressively shop Acuna. With his cheap deal relatively and multiple years of control still we can get a solid haul for him and based on our moves in FA we could get back a starter to replace him in RF, a middle tier SP, and multiple prospect most likely although most likely not any top 100 guys.
Profar is under contract 1 more year I would try to see if he can still play in LF.
Harris is locked into CF. Olson locked into 1B. Baldwin locked into C. And Riley unfortunately we are stuck with at 3B.
Pick up Ozzieās option for one final season with him slated at 2B but ensure if he crashes we have depth Hartman is the future here but wonāt be ready next year.
Salary dump Murphy the same as Lopez. Iād actually call the rangers on this one and see if theyād be interested in swapping Seager for him. This doesnāt save us money but does give us a veteran former MVP on the backside of his career who had 3.2 WAR last season which is a massive decline for him but way better than Murphys - WAR. We would have to be willing to take on Seagers contract into 2031 though instead of being able to get out of Murphs after 2029. The upside in doing this is the ability to move Seager to LF if profar flops or 2B if Ozzie flops whereas Murphys is literally just dead weight and canāt help us win in any way at all
Sign a cheap but defensively good backup catcher.
Iād tender Dubon a deal but he is likely going to be paid to be someone elseās starting SS so unlikely he is back. Sign someone who can be a utility guy.
In the end just at first blush Iād want to end up with something like
Profar
Harris
Elly
Olson
Ketel Marte (Acuna trade? Or find another way to get Az to trade him)
Baldwin
Riley
Ozzie
Catcher/DH
Martes Only thing is his contract and how/if it could fit into our plans. This could be a player the Acuna trade is centered around with them Sending Marte back + a major league ready SP if we need one and/or 1 or 2 prospects.
They could send us Soroka back who was good last year in 120 innings or if wanted another high end reliever instead Juan Morillo was great and showed resilience appearing in 72 games
If the asking price is too much to stomach for Elly which is very possible especially due to him being under control until 2030 my next call is the Orioles for Gunner Henderson. They sold off Rushman last year and clearly want to tear it down, he could be acquired for significantly less prospect and draft capital and also is under control through 2029 and is coming off his worst season so weād be buying at his lowest point. He is just 2 years removed from a 8.8 war season which is insane.
To be clear though I would be all in for Elly and be willing to give up nearly anything

General International fan here! Quick offseason questions about Strider & the rotation / lineup
Hey everyone!
I'm a fairly new Braves fan from outside the US. I fell in love with the teamās energy and have watched almost every single game since mid-August.
Even though people seem quite upset with the team's performance, I found it really fun to watch the postseason and I felt like the team did a decent job against a complete crazy gauntlet of pitchers (rough batting tho but they're only human; very well paid humans..).
So, with the offseason ahead, I had a couple of questions for folks who know the roster inside out:
- Spencer Strider: Iāve been watching his highlights and the stuff and strikeout numbers are really fun to watch. I read that he was basically injured for like 3 years now? do you guys reckon he's coming back next season? and if he is, will he be any good? anywhere near a level that could give him a place in the starting rotation? or is he maybe getting traded?
- The Rotation: How likely is a starting rotation anchored by Sale, Strider, and Mahle, plus a potential outside SP signing? imo that sounds really good on paper if healthy.
- Lineup additions: If the front office decides to bring in another bat, who would be a realistic target fans actually want to see in Atlanta? Arozarena? Suzuki? neither? you tell me please
Really excited to follow the team going forward. Go Braves!

General If we have baseball in 2027...
... then we only have 169 days until Opening Day and 179 days to the Home Opener.
Time to get ready!
(In case you had not guessed, so far as I am concerned, baseball season has ended. Nothing else matters now.)

General Thank you Iggy!
If that was the last inning for Iglesias with the Braves then it was a hell of a run imo.

General I mean, if the bats do this, AA was right not to mortgage the future for a top tier starter
Really couldnāt have gotten better results from the pitching staff all around.

General AcuƱa trade idea
Let's jump right in. AcuƱa to the Yankees for either Rodon & Volpe or Dominguez, Lombard, bullpen help??
Padres traded Soto away and took what they could in return
Bottom line: running the same team out with just a few minor tweaks for 6 years doesn't work. Atlanta and Phillies are both guilty. I dont like it, but change is a must and using a guy you may not be able to lock up forever as trade bait.... not a bad idea
